I had to change vets because mine retired. It took a long time and research to find a new vet. One of my friends suggested Eudora Animal Clinic. One reason I picked this vet is because they are one of the few vets in town to administer the ProHeart shot for heart worm prevention. That was very important to me. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They get to know you on a first name basis very easily. They answer the phone and there are no automated answering systems. They are helpful and caring. The vets and vet techs are smart and helpful. They have never tried to oversell me products. I have two dogs so we have a tight budget. There is no pressure and no hard sales. I trust their advice and medical care. The prices are not the most inexpensive but they line up with other vets in town. They seem to be moderate in price compared to others. There are always discounts and rebates on medicine. I use the Care Credit Card so the staff always makes sure I get the best rate. Eudora Animal Hospital is primarily a large animal hospital. There are cattle and horse pens on the side. However, I have seen all sorts of animals there. Cats, dogs of all sizes are treated there. My dogs are happy with their care and I am happy with the staff and treatment. Highly recommended. read more

Eudora Animal Hospital - His whole back end was crushed and no doubt he would have to be put down - Veterinarians Near Me - Eudora, Kansas

My family has a kitty who has dealing who's been dealing with what turned out to be a large painful abscess for a few days. So, based on lots of great reviews, I decided to bring him to Eudora Animal Hospital. All of the desk staff and vet techs I had contact with were very kind, compassionate, and informative. However, my experience with the DVM, who introduced himself as George, was very bad. I was pretty shocked. The more I think back on it the more upsetting it is. He was curt, hurried, and, condescending, and dismissive. He did introduce himself and shake my hand quickly, but immediately after it was evident that he was in a nasty mood or something. He was very rough with our cat who was very scared and in a lot of pain. It was as if he made a point to be abrasive in his communication and rough with the cat. The initial encounter / examination lasted maybe 60 seconds at most. He quickly thrust his hand into the carrier, grabbed a fistful of flesh, dragged the cat out, pressed hard and abruptly into the large inflamed painful area, and then when the kitty reacted to the pain, he shoved the cat back into the carrier and told us it was an abscess. To be clear, the cat is docile and compliant - he is timid and gentle. That was the case during this ordeal as well. I didn't know what to do so I just stood there bewildered and watched. He took the cat, did whatever he did in the back with him, and very shortly thereafter met us in the waiting room. He sped through a cursory brief of what had been done and, when I asked if the kitty would need continued pain management, he hurriedly asserted "He's fine." Then immediately turned and briskly walked away without even looking at me. The gentleman behind the desk, Charles (I think), who took our payment overheard and took some time to better explain things. He seemed disappointed by how the DVM conducted himself. Maybe George had a rough morning. That's not my problem and it's not my cat's problem. I am entirely disappointed and I'm angry. I should have taken my kitty to Lawrence Animal Hospital or anywhere else. Please do think twice before letting George "care" for your beloved animals. If someone from EAH would like to contact me regarding this review they can feel free. I'd be happy to come up and chat about it with Georges An explanation and apology would be appreciated. Doing better in the future is a must though. read more

Dr. John told us our cat has fiv and needed to be put down. We got a second opinion and that vert said as long as they don't fight and BLEED, there is small chance of exposure to the other cats, just make sure he stays inside. When my husband called, he CONTINUED to practically order is into killing our cat. We sought advice from the humane society, who deals with this on a daily basis, and their vet was very reassuring that our cat could live a long, healthy life and not expose our other boys. I can't help but wonder how many cats have needlessly died because of this man. read more

Today 04/02/2024, my mom took our two dogs in at separate times. Our oldest dog Ziggy was taken in an was due for his annual. This clinic didn't do an annual check up on him. They just gave him the Bordetella. Never gave him, his DHPP and Rabies. Instead they gave him Lepto Vac without telling my mom about the vaccine or what it's for. I've worked in the veterinary field and never once have I experienced a clinic just giving the vaccine out. We have never gave them the lepto vaccine since we are never round other dogs so no point on having it. The worst part was calling up to confront them on what they did and they just ignored the situation. My family and I have been going to Eudora Animal Hospital for years now. So unhappy about what they have done including on giving my DOG THE LEPTO VACCINE WITHOUT CONSENT!!! We will never be taking our dogs back to that clinic. read more

Over a month ago I took kodi into Eudora animal hospital because she was coughing. They told me she had kennel cough and sent me on my way with antibiotics. I gave her all the pills (besides the ones that she puked up a couple times) and she still wasn't better after the antibiotics, I called a couple times because I was worried that maybe she wasn't better because of the few times she puked up the antibiotics. They insisted that it would be okay and to not worry. Something didn't feel right as the days went on. She wasn't getting better and 3 weeks later after the initial diagnosisI took her in again. When I arrived I expressed my concern about her. She had visibly lost weight. She was very lethargic and she was having a hard time breathing. The vet told me that I was just worrying "she was a perfectly fine healthy happy dog" and that "I should stop calling so much" he didn't even take one look at my dog. Just yelled at me the whole time. he was positive she was going to get better and to give it a month. This 1 week later I knew something was wrong and I saw she had a descended tummy and very large lymph nodes. I rushed her in and demanded he look at her and his face immediately dropped. they started doing bloodwork and x-rays for 800$ and that's when he diagnosed it her with lymphoma. She had a tumor that was Unable to be removed and fluid in her lungs and to bring her back in a couple weeks to put her down. He also told me that her blood work was normal??! After all the bullshit I went through with that idiot I obviously was in denial and confused. That next day I went in to get a second opinion from Prairie Village animal Hospital they told me she did have a tumor in between her lungs and heart that was inoperable. They said her blood work was NOT normal at all, and her liver was failing. They said that the fluid in her lungs was going to send her into respiratory failure within the next couple days and she most definitely would not make it a couple weeks like Eudora had said. ** NEVER let a vet treat you like you are crazy. When visiting here, we were treated as if we were an inconvenience and waste of time despite having scheduled an appointment in advance. I brought my very small dog in to receive a rabies shot and to inquire about some dental surgery that he needed done. My dog has received several shots at Petco clinics and another vet before and he usually whimpers, but has not had any problems before with them before. When the vet came in to administer the shot, he was not concerned about treating my dog with any care at all. My dog screamed when the doctor administered the rabies shot and my dog ended up peeing on the table from either being startled from it or hurt by it. I wasn't really bothered by that itself, but then they failed to try and even clean it up and instead had my dog sit and stand in his own pee puddle for the whole rest of the appointment. I would absolutely NEVER leave my pet in the care of a facility that makes my dog stand and sit in their own excrement. I was horrified. When I asked concerned questions about if my dog would do well under anesthesia for his surgery since he is only 4 pounds, I received a very irritated comment from the doctor saying that he takes care of animals for a living and I shouldn't even ask that question. I have researched online and even experienced vets express that small animals have higher risks with going under anesthesia. I did not feel that my business was even wanted there, they expressed no interest in reassuring a customer who is worried about their pets well-being. The whole attitude from the employees was 'rush you out as quickly as possible and just get your money'. I've never had a worse experience from a vet in my life. read more

Switched to this vet on referral of my boss, tried of being over charged at the Animal Clinic of Kaw Valley in Lawrence. Pup was due for his annual shots, and unlike my Lawrence vet, they didn't charge a "comprehensive exam fee." They looked him over, checked his teeth, listened to his heart etc, but only charged us for the shots, heart worm test and nail trim (also cheaper than the Lawrence vet). Dr. Haggard counseled me on heartworm/flea prevention and recommended the combo pill as it was cheaper than buying flea prevention liquid + a heartworm pill. They even had a $7 off coupon laying around they gave me. Every staff person I came into contact with was very nice and knowledgeable. It's a plus that they have PetPortal which keeps your pet's history and reminds you when it is due for shots. Lastly, they will release prescriptions with a fee, something my Lawrence vet refused to do. read more

Our cat was attacked by two dogs on Friday and the care (or lack there of) by Dr. Haggard has left us with nothing. Our cat died on Sunday. He did a quick exam, pushing on our cats belly & saying "it's just some puncture wounds, there's no internal bleeding, do you hear the air in there"....he gave him an antibiotic shot and one for pain. Asked if we wanted to give him fluids but did not talk to us about the benefits of doing that, or the possibility that truly do not know if there is damage to the internal organs unless you do surgery & open an animal up. When I called twice for help on Sunday morning I was made to feel as though I was putting Dr. Haggard out and my concerns dismissed. He just wanted to make sure that I knew I'd be paying another emergency fee and exam fee, oh and we'll have to do bloodwork so you're looking at at least $300 right off. I was asking for HIS ADVICE on the cold ears and cold pads (I expressed this in my 8:30 am call and my 11 am conversations with him). He told me you can't tell anything from a cats extremities, the only way to tell their temperature is by taking their temperature rectally. When he asked if he could stand on his own I said don't think so, my husband tried last night. I said you want me to wake him up now to try? In an irritated tone, he says "yes, or you'll be calling me back again this afternoon". So I wake the cat up, or try & stand him up and he fell like a limp noodle. He was getting more irritated and telling me I need to make sure that I wake him up more. At this point, I called my husband to the phone as he was wailing and I was done talking from my frustration with the lack of empathy and care. I'd asked twice about bringing the cat in for fluids and he just tried to make sure I knew how much it would cost me and displayed an attitude of being completely put out. Fast forward to Sunday afternoon around 3 & I was driving our cat to Blue Pearl emergency vet. By the time I'm carrying him in the door he is wailing and moving around and they carried him off. Within 30-45 minutes he passed on his own. They believed he was septic, his temperature was so low it would not read on a thermometer, his pupils were unresponsive and he stopped breathing on his own. You tell me if you think that our cat was given the best care he could have been? Would you be satisfied by that if you took your animal there? read more

Eudora Animal hospital is the best! We take all of our animals from livestock to dogs. Everyone is so nice and so helpful. I have called wit questions and they answered them with out me needing to come in. I will always bring my pets here read more

I have been taking all of our pets to Eudora animal hospital for many years when Ron Lee was there we've never had a problem. Then they started getting more and more doctors in then we use dr. George Schreiner for most of our pets and he was good. Well I took our Pomeranian down to see doctor Haggard because Misty's vet was not in at that time, he seen her and right away diagnosed her and said she has severe problems she may have Cushings we need to have a test she has extreme enlarged liver and spleen and she doesn't have a good life left. So I was ready to have her put down. I took her to dr. Tim at the Baldwin companion Hospital and he said let's do a ultrasound before we have her put down I said okay let's do it. When he did the ultrasound he said there's nothing wrong with this baby nothing-at-all. I was very upset that my dog was misdiagnosed again and it cost me $800 dollars to boot. This wasn't the first time my fur babies were misdiagnosed. Dr. Haggard in Eudora is the one who seen her and I'm sorry I always loved to write good things about people but I believe that this was wrong. Also Misty has trouble with her trachea about a month before this and I have mentioned it several times but dr. Haggard thought it wasn't bad enough and just put her on antibiotics. Misty had an attack with her trachea and I didn't know what to do and she was still on antibiotics for it so I called my brother-in-law and he said let's take her to Baldwin to see doctor Tim. At that time dr. Tim was coming back from Arkansas and he said bring her right in I will meet you there this was at 9 or 9:30 at night by the time I got there Misty had stopped breathing when I got there my brother-in-law and dr. Tim rushed her in and he immediately start giving her shots and IV fluids and Misty came out of it and he saved her life and he said the trachea is a problem and we will probably have to put her on medication to keep it open it is bad enough to do that. So again Misty was misdiagnosed because her trachea wasn't bad enough and I almost lost her so thank you Doctor Tim for saving my dog's life. Needless to say all four of my fur babies now go to the Baldwin companion Hospital. read more

This practice has been the place that I have taken my pets for 20 plus years. I used to be a vet's assistance elsewhere. They were understanding when I did not have money to pay for costly treatment for my elderly cat. As of this time are able to get sick animals in very quickly. I had a dog that really disliked going to the vets and they were good with him. The would start squirming and wiggling with all his might the minute he came in the hospital room. The DMV's appear kind to their staff, which is important for me in picking a place to care for my pet's vet needs. read more

I had a cat that was in trouble, breathing 70 breaths a minute. I called the answering service on a Sunday and they had "Dr" Haggard call me back. Instead, I got a voice mail from him, and I called him back. First, all he wanted to do was argue with me about my phone settings, and why it went to voice mail when he called me. He was a little arrogant, and seemed annoyed that I had bothered him on a Sunday, but I felt it was an emergency. He said 70 breaths per minute was "normal" and if I wanted him to see out cat on Sunday, it would be about $450, effectively discouraging me from bringing him in. (I think he might do better selling phones at AT&T). So the next day, I went to a real vet that tested the cat, and found out he had a fast moving lung disease, and it died the next Sunday, Thanks for nothing "Dr" Haggard. A couple of years ago, our other cat lost half her body weight, and when I brought her in, they felt around and said "Yup, looks like she's got intestinal cancer." I took her to a real vet for a 2nd opinion, they ran some tests, and found it was something else entirely, treated her, and now she's back up to full body weight, and as good as ever, no cancer, never was. I've used this office for 33 years, have brought dozens of pets into them, and always paid on the spot, thousands of dollars over the years. When Ron Lee was there it was a good place to take cats, but I won't recommend it to anyone anymore. read more

I'm so disappointed to write this because I used to go to Eudora regularly until I moved away. My dog has a soft tissue sarcoma on his foot which has been removed twice and then was part of a clinical trial at the Veterinary Center at KState. The trial was unsuccessful and the doctor said his leg needed to be amputated. This has been almost a 2 year process to try to save my dog's leg. Well the price and distance was a lot for the amputation and KState told me I would be totally fine to contact a vet closer to home who could do the surgery. My current vet couldn't do it so I called Eudora because I really liked them when we used them and it was my impression this type of surgery was not a difficult one for them. I spoke with someone at the office who said they could do the surgery and I sent all of my dog's records. They said I didn't need a consult beforehand and that the doctor would review records. I talked to them again before the surgery and asked if they needed anything else or if we were good to go. They said everything was fine. I showed up for the appointment and was pulled into an office and told, rather insensitively, that they would not be performing the surgery on my 15 year old dog. I became upset and asked why they couldn't have told me this before I showed up for my appointment. I cannot express enough how scared I was for this surgery and how much time and energy has gone into the treatment for my dog. Neither the vet nor tech were compassionate with me as I cried in their office. I was told that my dog had reached his life expectancy and would maybe die anyway. They unwrapped the tumor which currently has a sore (and is what makes this surgery so urgent) and then left him on the table bleeding. Why on earth would they want to unwrap it if they weren't going to do the surgery? I wasted a week waiting for this appointment that could have been spent finding a place for my dog's surgery. I had to ask them to wrap his foot which was bleeding and sore. I am so sad and disappointed for how we were treated. The vet actually left the room without fully explaining anything to me. I gave them all the information they needed to make this decision before I drove to them and I'm so sad that this was the result. read more

We had to use this clinic back when we got our kitten from a humane society and the kitten was very sick after only having her for 3 days. Just this July 2018 my 10 year old yellow lab came to the point where we knew it was the end for her. I called over to the clinic in complete tears and panic knowing in my gut I was going to have to say goodbye that Sunday. We where treated with the up most respect and was given all the time we needed to say our goodbyes never rushed and our kids got to say goodbye as well. We have been clients of Eurdora Animal Hospital since we moved to the Linwood area in 2004 and they have always been nothing but the best! We have beef cattle and multiple dogs. EAH has wonderful vets, assitants and clerks. I can't imagine anyone ever having a bad experience with them. But everything in life is based on perception, isn't it? We think they are miracle workers, but not everyone can be that all of the time. Sometimes God and nature just take over. The folks at EAH have always bent over backwards to help give all of our animals the best of care at the best price possible and the most caring attitude toward us humans too. They've even helped us get rebates on medicine and presription food for our animals. We know people who have been unhappy with different animal hospitals and vets around the area, including Tonganoxie, Basehor and Bonner Springs. But when we sent them to Eudora Animal Hospital, they were extremely happy and satisfied with their work and care of their animals. We are in no way connected to any vets or employees of EAH. We are just clients of theirs. I would always recommend Eurdora Animal Hospital to anyone and everyone who lives in the Southern Leavenworth County, Douglas County, or western Johnson County areas. We know people who drive long distances, just to take their animals to this clinic. The folks at EAH have always done a fantastic job with our animals, and been wonderful to us. I wish that I could give 2 sub reviews. I'm very thankful for the service that I got from Guy, Charles, Stacy, and a girl whose name that I didn't get. They were all good at tending to my cat's badly worsening situation, but after I had to say the big goodbye to my cat, I got to spend literally almost no time with him before she took him away, but after much begging, she let me spend more time with him, before the after-services, which I was most thankful for but I expect because this is a loved one that I'm leaving, not a thing that I'm done using. After a better amount of time she helped me put him on the table but was so fast to cover him up and take him away again that I couldn't move fast enough (like Superman) to cover him myself or to only say 'Goodbye, see you again somehow'. After relieved that I held him for a while, I felt like I got my heart ripped out because he was snatched away so fast again. In agony at this, and after much begging the next morn., I was one second from leaving when another doc came out to allow me 5 min. to see him again though I knew that he would look different, but I love him no matter what he looks like. I was so expressly thankful to try to redo the last min. differently that I probably sounded like a skipping record, and when done, I sat down in the lobby to try to collect myself for a min., but he wouldn't stop telling me to leave though the lobby at that end was totally empty. It was then obvious from his attitude that he didn't care at all. What an apathetic jerk. I couldn't believe it. I'm lucky that I remembered to ask if I could hold my cat's head in my hand before it was all over the day before but I wish that they had asked if I'd like anything special at the last minute. However, Guy and his crew was good about the exam and analysis. I hope that I get him if I go back there, but I warn you - be on guard and don't forget anything. read more

Dr. Lee is a decent vet. Unfortunately, he's brought on a new partner that is nothing like him. I would highly recommend steering clear of Dr. George Schreiner. He's a poor vet with an even worse attitude. I completely get the impression that he cares a lot more about his pocket book than he does your pet. My dog died under Dr Schreiner's care. This place is awesome! My sister has been taking her pets here (and mine also once or twice, while I was out of town), and came highly recommended--I can see why. I took my dog, Bella, in today to receive a heartworm test and medications. They were so friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in the door: they transferred Bella's records over without hesitation or question, gave me instructions to login to the internet PetPortal to access them, treated Bella with love and respect and were very gentle with her, let me know they have a vet available 24/7/365 (!!!!), took her back for testing immediately without wait, allowed me to hold her while we waited for results, and then checked me out quickly. I live in downtown Kansas City and it was well worth the drive, not only for their service, but also for the prices--Bella received a heartworm test and a year's worth of medication here, as part of a promotion, for the cost of just the test anywhere else I called in the metro area. I would trust them with anything for either of my dogs. read more

The practice strikes me as more of a large animal hospital anymore and the current staff of vets seem to rush through visits and exams. Little communication with us during visits. unless you press an issue, so they come off as sort of cold and uncaring. Examining rooms don't seem sterile and seen instruments sitting in scaly looking beakers of fluid on several visits. One of our cats went in for a dental work and got mysteriously sick a short time afterwards, another developed a pancreatic infection after surgical work and died from it. You can't tie these back to anything specific from the practice but the coincidence is ominous. I respect the original owner Dr. Lee and what he established but not what it is now. read more
