From the very beginning, the teachers and staff have gone above and beyond--not just to "watch" the kids, but to truly teach, nurture, and connect with them. The growth I've seen in my children has been incredible. My oldest has graduated out but my youngest comes home excited, confident, and full of new things he's learned. What stands out most to me is how intentional the focus is on true development and connection. They don't teach just about letters, numbers, or milestones--they help each child grow into themselves with kindness, curiosity, and confidence. As a parent, specifically a single parent, I'm especially grateful for how seamlessly their approach aligns with the way I raise my children at home. The parallels between their teaching style and my parenting make it easy for my kids to absorb and retain what they're learning, which has made a huge difference in their growth. It's rare to find a place where you feel your children are not only safe, but also understood, supported, and genuinely loved. That's exactly what this center has given us. I can't recommend them highly enough!

I'd like to add that if you have had a different experience with this school and the five year old classroom than what my son and I had to endure, that is great. I would never want any child to be treated maliciously, so if you are a lucky parent and she was nice to your children, I am genuinely happy for you. I am speaking from my own experience with this teacher, and my experience was and is still valid. She is lucky I am being vague about what my child had to experience with her as a teacher. I as a parent am writing this review out of genuine concern for every child that enters this school's well being. Beware of biased reviews from friends of teachers at this school who do not have the children's best interest at heart, and instead are leaving reviews to help their friend's egos.

It's saddening to see a review that talks illy about the 5's teacher. I hope that if you read that review, then you also read this one as well. Great Beginnings has been nothing but a pleasure to be apart of. Day in and day out, I know that the people in that place are filled with light and God's glory. Their intent is to raise up a child in the ways they should go, "Proverbs 22:6. Train up a child in the way he should go;". There has NEVER been a moment where I did not trust or depend on a GB teacher to guide my children accordingly. Specifically, Ms. Mandy has prepared 2/3 of my kids for pre-k and has done nothing but a wonderful job. She has challenged them, loved on them, and prepared them to know what to expect in Kindergarten. (And I'm not sure if you know what the education system is like nowadays but it's ROUGH). Realizing that there are moments where she needed to be tough to ensure that my child would be successful was apart of my job as the PARENT. I knew for a fact that she had no ill intent. She is HIGHLY qualified for the job, as both of my boys are gifted in Math. Let me echo this again, She knows what she is doing. I have recommended countless families to GB and will continue to do so. Pleasing everyone in this world is impossible. But, I can vouch and say that GB is one of the best places you can bring your child if you're looking for curriculum that is filled with the truths of God and love of Jesus, teachers who know what they are doing and enjoy it, and a place that you can trust.

On the positive side, the teachers were wonderful -- especially Ms. Kelley, who was amazing with my daughter and helped her learn to read before Kindergarten. The classrooms felt clean and homey, and my daughter made lots of friends there. It was also one of the most affordable preschool options we found, which was a huge plus. That said, there were some real concerns. Communication and organization were lacking. Dates on the calendar would change, but staff often didn't seem aware of the updates. The school's app was very basic and only tracked sign-ins and sign-outs, without sharing anything about classroom activities. The only emails we received from management were reminders about holidays. We also experienced a lack of communication when it came to incident reports. On multiple occasions, my daughter came home with bumps, scrapes, or bruises, but we were never notified during the school day or given a report about what happened. As a parent, that was concerning because I want to know if she's been hurt, even in small ways. Billing was another ongoing frustration. Invoices were frequently incorrect, and we had to constantly monitor the autopay system to make sure we weren't overcharged. This added unnecessary stress on top of everything else. There was also a lot of turnover in staff. While the core teachers were great, it felt like new faces were constantly cycling in and out, which made the environment feel less stable for the kids. Safety and security were additional concerns. There were no cameras on site that I could see, and we once received a notice hours later about an incident where someone entered the gated playground in the morning. There was no follow-up on what changes would be made afterward. The parking lot also felt unsafe at times, with cars speeding through, homeless individuals passing by, and even a stolen car abandoned one morning while police investigated. Lastly, be cautious when looking at reviews online. Many of the 5-star reviews were part of a raffle the school conducted, which makes the feedback seem less reliable. Overall, the teachers gave my daughter a strong start, and I'm grateful for their care. But the lack of communication, billing errors, staff turnover, and security issues made me uneasy as a parent. I hope the school invests in improving those areas because it truly has potential.

Several of my colleagues and fellow practitioners have their children enrolled at the other Little Scholars location and highly recommended it to me. I am not being paid or incentivized for this review (frankly, I wouldn't need it as previous review suggested)--this is simply my honest experience as a parent who values quality education and safety. I love this school, and the upward mobility it provides for our children within this community. Little Scholars has exceeded every expectation. The teachers are excellent and hold my baby like he is their own. The classrooms are spotless, and the play yard is beautiful and safe. Outside parameter is locked, secured and checked daily. My son is only three, and he's already learning letters, numbers, and beginning to read and write. His speech has advanced far beyond his age, and he's being taught valuable life skills that build confidence and independence. I appreciate the good manners they practice. They worked tirelessly on helping me potty train. They assisted me in the method I chose and were supportive from day one. Children get sick! It is what it is, but its not a reflection of "cleanliness of the place." Cold and flu season comes around and they are sanitizing like crazy. I'm personally thankful for this season as I know my son's immune system will be optimal come grade school. This is not just a daycare--it's a true preschool where children leave testing well above kindergarten level. My friend (another PA) noticed how advanced my child was for his age and opted to pull her two children out of a daycare and place them in a school atmosphere closer to her. She called me yesterday with an update (1st week in school ended) and she told me how impress she is with the change. As such, because it is a school the teachers are paid a salary and closures for holidays/breaks are not with reduced pay so that they continued to get paid. I don't mind this. I respect teachers and believe they deserve more especially when you have such excellent staff you'd do anything to keep them. I wish more schools followed this model. I also want to address a recent negative review, quite frankly the only lone star review (and her only review on yelp). It's clearly a revenge post for her personal vehicle being rummaged through because SHE left it unlocked. The claims about safety and homelessness in the area does not reflect the whole truth. Within the past year the homelessness has taken a significant shift. The neighborhood is rapidly changing. Bellair was bought out, new businesses are moving in building on empty lots (including the lot directly next to the school - adding additional lighting and security cameras to the area). Landscaping and hardscaping by the city has taken place up 43rd ave and the homelessness is starting to move on. I personally have never felt unsafe here even before these changes took place, but I'm happy to see the local improvements. Regardless, the incident mentioned in the other review was due to an unlocked vehicle in the parking lot not a reflection of the school itself. This could have equally happened a the local quick trip, sushi joint or grocery store. The original poster also cross posted this to the Neighborhood app (or FB (?)- this is where I saw the post initially) noting that the police were called but would be late to arrive so she left (they were late to arrive because they were looking for the gentleman that did it). She notes that nothing was stolen. Beyond this, the child was clearly in attendance for a couple of years (per her timeline). I would doubt that if she felt her child was unsafe for so many years she would have kept her child enrolled for that long. It also appears the child tested out end of summer and moved on (likely more advanced and above their peers) and she was refunded the month for her distress this caused her. Seemingly appropriately handled to me... Little Scholars goes above and beyond for children, families and community. We couldn't be happier with our choice, and I highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a safe, nurturing, and academically advanced start for their child. I can't wait to enroll my second when she's of age. Take a tour and see for yourself!

I have nothing but positive things to say about her and the staff at MCS. She took over the operation just as we hit Covid and the work they've put in to keep things running -- and then make capital improvements and prioritize grounds care on top of it -- I see the love they put into their place. As far as the schooling goes, I'm happy. Really enjoyed the small size, multi age classrooms, and their commitment to the Montessori Method. "I've got friends..." who tried Montessori schools elsewhere with poor results -- but none of their schools sounded like MCS at all. For my two cents, the environment MCS cultivates daily is safe, considerate, honest, and supportive. I'm on my only child so preschool research wasn't a major priority for me. But now, having seen my child grow through MCS and the instruction Ms Li provides-- both to students and staff -- I would recommend any parent consider this school. It's the real deal. I've been so impressed. And because I'm clearly a MCS fan, I'd like to add my own thoughts regarding the ownership transition. I didn't experience the old owner everyone loved. I did experience some parents choosing to leave the school, in part, because of the results of the change. I liked the school enough to stay here as long as i could. My thoughts today: (1) everyone seemed to like the decisions of the old owner; (2) he sold it to the owner; (3) today the new owner seems to have it under control and is putting her mark on it -- sounds like the old owner made another good decision. Since we started at MCS, I've seen a consistent child-first atmosphere from the staff that does not compromise on the child's experience. They've not kept around staff that did not fit. They have invested In the building and landscaping. And they even have a little monthly newsletter now. It's an awesome little school and you deal right with the operators. I love it. Plus Ms Li is really on it about the Montessori Method and she walks the talks. She's a real professional.

Positive reviews are from years ago before Ms. Li and her husband John bought the school. If you notice all parents sharing having a similar experiences. And please read Ms. Li's responses, pointing the finger back at the parents. The gaslighting and lack of accountability by Ms. Li and her husband are not acceptable. There's a reason they always have openings. We had ongoing issues, and every time my wife or I tried to bring something up, it felt like we were met with defensiveness instead of a real conversation. We often left those discussions feeling dismissed and blamed rather than heard. There was no genuine engagement with parents. We were asked what we could contribute to the "community," but we never experienced any real sense of one. Communication felt controlled and one-sided. After we set boundaries around comments we felt were inappropriate, our child was removed from the program without notice. As far as we know, our child had done nothing wrong. It was abrupt, upsetting, and incredibly disruptive for our family. This was not the supportive, respectful Montessori environment we were expecting.
