I have been able to improve my technique and strength but I've also been able to improve my mindfulness and reduce my stress. This is the place to go if you feel stressed and are looking for like minded every day people to call your yoga buddies. I'm very active and I enjoy the beginning and intermediate classes. Brant is wonderful at walking you through each step and will assist with any adjustments if it hurts or is uncomfortable. Brant even understands when I'm feeling extra strong and I do a little more than what he's teaching. I've even taken a lower back class that helped me through lower back pain. This yoga practice has helped me through a couple car accidents and general tight sore muscles. My mistake, I was running behind. They could have turned me away, but they were extremely nice and took the time to walk me through the new guest paperwork and show me where the weights were. I dont live in the area, but I could see this being a great spot to check out if you've got a commute and want to dodge traffic! I took Laura's class, and she was such a sweetheart and amazing at teaching. I do hot yoga nearly everyday but I was not used to this type of yoga. I got extremely dehydrated, dizzy the second I walked into the studio room, so I decided to lay in child's pose the whole time, just to be safe and avoid fainting. I noticed another worker (I'm not familiar with her name) giving me very rude looks during the class, which made me feel like a distraction despite my efforts of staying safe. After the class, I quickly felt sick and ran to the bathroom where I was excessively vomiting in the trash can (all stalls were taken, it was my only option). It was embarrassing, but it happens. Not one person stopped and asked if I was okay, and about 10 people walked by me. When I went to tell Laura, she was busy so I asked the other worker available. She was extremely disrespectful and told me to clean it up and go take the trash out myself, after I told her I felt extremely dehydrated and ill. She didn't ask if I was okay or if I needed help with anything, all she said was, "Yeah can you take out the trash yourself." Seems like a biohazard to me, and heck if I even knew where to take the trash to. Additionally, I was visibly shaking and my voice and body was obviously showing that. I was utterly shook that she had asked me to do this and her attitude was undeniably sassy. I have never felt so unwelcome and humiliated. I told Laura and she immediately told me to go home and feel better, and that she will take care of it! Thank god for Laura being there or else I would have left the studio bawling my eyes out of embarrassment. There must be policies for cleaning up things like vomit, and I don't think that a visitor is in charge of doing that! If I knew her name, I would contact the studio directly and inform them. I felt so unwelcome after speaking to her and I pray no one else has had a similar experience with that worker. Every other worker was so sweet and helpful, though. I will not be coming back to this studio.

I'd tried 24hr Fitness on TV Highway, but it took too long to drive there and back and also get in a workout and look presentable for work. Finally, we have a gym in downtown Hillsboro! The owners, Carla and George are very kind, encouraging, and personable. I love doing business with a "mom and pop" over a corporate facility. Additionally, their rates are very reasonable and you don't have to sign your life away. I pay month to month, and can stop at any time with 1 month notice. The space is roomy enough, the equipment is varied and solid, and they keep it ship-shape. The women's locker room has showers, lockers, and some additional appreciated items such as body soap and a hair drier. They also have a group room and classes, but I haven't tried that yet. I don't need a gym to be big and fancy, so this works perfectly for me. The only thing I miss is a pool/spa, but since all other fitness needs are met, it's a small compromise. If you are interested in joining a gym in the downtown Hillsboro area, I encourage you to pop in and take a tour. While it's great that it's not yet crowded, it would also be nice to see them build this business and thrive in the downtown, Washington County campus area. Go for it!

My family and I had a lovely, rejuvenating stay at Daiva and Gangamata's home in the fully…read moreseparated 2 bedroom downstairs living space, where we resided for several months while waiting to move into a new house. Offering a respite from hectic city life, it was the perfect landing spot for a longer-term stay. The quarters are clean and comfortable, and appear to have been newly renovated. The kitchen is stocked with everything we needed - a dual burner, toaster oven, cookware, utensils, dishes, and a full-sized fridge and freezer. The washer and dryer were also super practical! There is also a ton of storage in the space, which was quite helpful as we happened to have plenty of loot with us; this made keeping the place tidy a cinch. We all, our six-year old son included, relished the gorgeous surroundings - hundreds of acres of hills, trees, flowers, and friendly critters. We greeted deer (parents plus bambis!) passing in front of the front door nearly every day, and took many long walks in the quiet rolling hills, breathing fresh, fragrant air. The people who live in this community are caring and friendly, and the community kitchen serves up tasty treats made with love, which gave us all a much-needed break from kitchen duties. Daiva and Gangamata are incredibly accommodating and conscientious. They responded promptly to questions and requests. Not only that, but they made a formidable effort to understand not only our specific needs, many of which were health-related, but also how they could help us fulfill them. We will miss them both, but will surely be back to visit soon! We fully recommend Daiva and Gangamata's home for your next stay without reservation or qualification. Come experience the tranquility of this pace! You'll remember it always.
