I know I know, it's not a topic that everybody feels comfortable thinking - let alone talking - about, but we thought it would be good to plan ahead for the time when you or your partner will no longer be there. As I experienced in my own family, it's exactly this squeamishness that can cause a huge headache and potential family feuds in the future. Now, on to Paula herself Let me say this: Paula is great. I love the fact that she's so down-to-earth; she doesn't sit in a fancy office overlooking the Sausalito Marina as you might expect from someone who serves the rich Marin clientele. Also, although she certainly knows all the lawyer-lingua, she's using "real" language when talking to us. This is great, after all, the topic is already heavy enough... You may wonder how we heard about Paula Weaver in the first place? - In fact, our real estate agent, Candace Nordstrom, referred us to her. Plus, Paula's name also pops up constantly on Nextdoor discussion boards, when people are talking about estate planning lawyers in Marin county. And with so many hints, we simply had to pay her a visit. So - want to plan ahead and potentially prevent lots of headaches? - Go see Paula!

Since the 2 stars (which equates to the "[service] could've been better") were due to the unprofessionalism and inattentiveness shown (not due to her being an LDA), I have no reason to change my rating or delete my review. TL;DR: Marizen is NOT a lawyer. She is a Legal Document Assistant that cannot provide you with legal advice. She is a significantly affordable option for a Living Trust but she is unprofessional and has poor attention to detail-- key characteristics that are paramount to detailing an important document. Details: I left a Living Trust inquiry via her site and Marizen emailed me back within 1 day to "text" her back for a scheduled over-the-phone consult. Upon speaking with Marizen it was clear she did not take the time to review the few questions I had sent her in my initial inquiry as she was confused as to what the consult would primarily be regarding. Her rates were significantly less than what other competing services were offering which raised an orange flag for me. Upon further research, I realized Marizen was NOT a lawyer, but rather a "Legal Document Assistant (LDA)." According to the CA Attorney General, LDAs cannot give legal advice. This was my first encounter with an LDA, which allowed me the opportunity to do the necessary research to make a more educated investment. Had Marizen gotten back to me with the necessary next steps and questionnaire as she had promised (it's been over 1.5 weeks), I may have considered her as a possible option to complete my Living Trust needs. But if you are looking for a more affordable option, perhaps Marizen is a good fit for you.

He could have been killed. I asked around town for the best attorney who would handle everything from A-Z, was given a few names, and went with Andy Rhine. Andy is smart, experienced, and doesn't mince words - he evidently been around a while so he knew exactly how things would play out, he anticipated what would happen at every turn with great precision. I should add the reckless person who almost killed my son was an attorney who would have clearly taken advantage of us without Andy's help. And yes, the settlement was satisfactory. Smart, kind, seasoned, and experienced, Andy is now my family's attorney on all things. And for good reasons.
