It isn't a large theater, so no matter where you are siting you have a good view of the performance. 2nd - the acoustics are excellent, and make a large difference when you see a piece that involves music. 3rd - they do a wonderful job of programming excellent performances. 4th - ticket prices are not expensive and are a great value. If you are a member you get a discount on almost all shows. 5th - the lobby is a cozy space to wait for the doors to open up to your show. And the bathrooms are nice, clean and modern. Some old theaters have disgusting bathrooms with one stall. Blech! 6th - great location. There are lots of restaurants and bars close by. I would like to see them improve their drink selection that they offer primarily. It can be a bit of a hassle to get there if you are driving, but the bus drops you off very close by, and there is a subway stop about 6 blocks away. Prepare to pay a lot of money to park if you intend on driving.

They opened up 45 minutes early to let us into the main space which was super cool considering it was getting into the upper 30s outside. There's not a bad seat in the house, but the seats themselves are bad as they are minimal and pretty uncomfortable. The leg room is decent and there's enough pitch to the space that you will never have someone's head blocking your view. The sound is good, the acoustics are good. Overall, a very decent spot to see a show, movie, band, what have you.

::STORY TIME - LOCK IN::…read more I was 15 when Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness 2 disc set dropped. At the time I was in love with my best friend and we had a thing as teenagers often do. Anyway I got this album, listened to all 2 hours of it, and picked out the songs we'd make out to the following weekend lmaaooo Imagine my surprise shock and horror that on the appointed evening instead of being at my house booed up with me he was in the town next door canoodling with a girl he met at the arcade. Chillleeee. Anyway that was 30 years ago - I grew up to be amazing and he grew up to be a cop. :barf: Despite all of...that... this is still a top 5 album of all time for me - holding court with Third Eye Blind, Stevie Wonder, Bjork, and Snoop Dogg. I never dreamed I would get to hear any of it live. AND YET!! When I heard Billy Corgan was reimagining this as a rock opera - BABY!!! 30 years of memories came flooding back and I had to be there. I went to opening night last week and had a FANTASTIC experience! The seating was plush and comfortable, the sound quality was incredible, and the visuals were sumptuous. Ushers were so helpful and friendly, the bathrooms were busy yet spotless, and customer service was helpful and accommodating. I won't hesitate to return! Also Billy Corgan is larger than life. His voice is still his voice. As a 15yo I could never imagine the treat I would get to experience 30 years later. Fat Things The theatre underwent a seating revamp a few years ago but if you're concerned about width and space you can call customer service for accessible seating. I called and moved from an interior seat on the rear floor to an aisle seat with removable barrier in the same area. So don't be afraid to ask for what you need or think you may need. Tickets are easy to purchase from the Steppenwolf website. As this is a smaller, intimate theater, really not a bad seat in the house. Pricing is affordable. They allow drinks purchased there to be brought into the theater. They have 2 bars and a small snack area for treats. Bathrooms are gender neutral stalls. Parking is either street parking (if you feel like driving around to snag a spot), their paid lot, or I recommend using park whiz app to find a garage a couple of blocks away. It is also near CTA. I find the history of Steppenwolf to be interesting. (A great ensemble cast) Check them out!

They are quickly becoming one of my favorites, if anything solely in the performances and cultural diversity. This time I had the pleasure of seeing "Mi Familia/ My Dance", only running for three shows this Latin dance with a contemporary flair was nothing short of HOT!!! Each dancer told a story and when they came together you couldn't help but want to shake it yourself. Great dancers, great choreographer, and great crowd interaction. What was really unique was that the director/ choreographer can out before hand to explain his vision in the beginning, the middle to talk about the rhythm that's involved in choreographing something like this, and at the end to give us all a little salsa lesson.... what fun!!! The Quinceañera was probably my favorite part of this hour long show. And for only $10.00 a ticket, it was more then worth it. As for the theater, I give it two enthusiastic thumbs up! I have been here a few times over the past several years, and have finally realized that they have the opportunity to switch-up the stage. I have entered the stage area at different junctures, which adds to the felling fresh concept. You never know what the stage is going to look like! The performances tend to be very emotional and always suck me in. Most recently, my friend and I saw a trilogy of plays (Gjenganger). We didn't realize all three plays were were almost two hours each. Holy plays, Batman!! I couldn't believe the emotion that oozed from the actors and imbibed by all the theater goers. I was drained at the end of the experience and enjoyed every minute of it. You don't want to miss out on this hidden "arts" establishment!

It's nice to see Columbia put a lot of funds into their theater department, though I think these actors could have done just as well without. Easy to get to, parking is abundant, and tickets prices are fair, I just might be coming more often. Though I can't say I would have found this place if I wasn't invited from a certain actress in this play. You were wonderful and I hope to see more of your talent on stage!! Although the actual performance and show were great, what a horrible staff that works here (sans 1…read moreperson who actually helped). When we first arrived, upon checking our tickets, our tickets wouldn't scan/verify. The usher was getting frustrated with us for this, and made us go to the ticket booth to get our physical tickets. We showed the person the tickets on our phone, and she printed them out for us -- after several rounds of confusion on her part. She was so soft spoken (in a noisy theatre entrance) that it led to much confusion. After this, we had to "cut" back into the entrance line (the security guard was helpful here) and we got thru the gates, finally. Then this usher/ticket checker who scanned our tickets (the 2nd time) was literally yelling at us on which direction to go (not a yelling as in being loud, but yelling like we were stupid). I go the way he yells at me because he won't stop yelling at me to go the direction he points me in -- which is the wrong direction. We had orchestra seats and were headed there, but this usher/ticket checker was yelling at us to go up the stairs. Fine, maybe I'm wrong. We get upstairs, and the 2nd usher again points us in the wrong direction to go further upstairs. This is again incorrect. We are flustered and confused, and not sure what is going on. We finally reach the 3rd usher at the top of the stairs, and he finally points us in the correct direction. The ushers here (Sans the 3rd one) were incompetent and rude.
