An absolutely terrible experience from start to finish. The only single thing that was good the…read moreentire night was the first drink I ordered, the "Espíritu Playero." After that, everything went downhill. The food was a disappointment. The Bruschetta ai Funghi looked completely different from the menu photo--tasted okay, but it was incredibly dry. The gnocchi bolognese was just mediocre, definitely not worth the price. To make matters worse, the staff completely ignored my table after dropping off the food. I had zero follow-up, yet I clearly saw every other table around me receiving maximum attention. The service here is extremely selective and unprofessional. The drink situation was even worse. I ordered a Spanish white wine that was awful, so I asked to switch it for a sweet cocktail, the "Atardecer en Progreso." It was a disaster: it was bright green (even though mango/passion fruit is supposed to be yellow), and the bottom of the drink was incredibly bitter and undrinkable. When I pointed this out, the waitress just dismissed it, saying "that's how it is." To top it all off, they still charged me for the wrong drink they messed up. WARNING TO EXPATS AND TOURISTS: They use abusive and dishonest billing practices. My actual bill was $933 MXN (around $53.30 USD), but they ran my card for $61.82 USD without my consent, forcing a terrible exchange rate to pocket an extra $9. I went back to complain, and I was met by a clueless "supposed manager" because an actual, professional manager was nowhere to be found. Terrible customer service. TIP: If you are a foreigner, ALWAYS demand to pay in PESOS (local currency) on the card machine. Never let them select USD, or you will get ripped off. Avoid this place at all costs!

My sister-in-law says it's bad for her because she lives close and will be breaking her diet too often now. The super clean, friendly, and could succeed in any town in the states. English spoken by some of the family (the part from Oregon). Cute little gallery run by them (next door) had stuff we bought to finish our Xmas shopping. Well earned 5 star review. By the way, staff quickly lost a chair as they saw her coming, and other than the table skirt being a common bit too low, the dining room was friendly to my wife's wheelchair, and so was the gallery. I did not use the bathroom, but believe it has 2-3 steps to get in. The dirt parking lot was hard-pack and there is a curb cut. Much more accessible than most other places. We had reservations but did not really need because there was only one other table occupied. They do all the cooking in their wood fired oven which gives it a lot of flavor. We started the meal with a caprese salad. Nice mozzarella, tomatoes, basil in a balsamic glaze. We asked for more balsamic for our taste. I ordered the meat calzone and my wife ordered the baked ziti. My calzone was stuffed with sausage, pepperoni, peppers, onion, and cheese. Very good. My wife got the baked ziti. Her serving was the size of a casserole dish. It could feed at least 3-4 people so we have a lot of leftovers. The taste and the sauce was delicious. Wine selection is limited to Chardonnay or Syrah. Good pour on the wine. Waitress was very nice and provided great service. A gem off the beaten path.

They had an entire page of their menu full of vegetarian options-- with protein! We had the stuffed squash and eggplant meshe. Both were fabulous. Then we decided to have the crepe de cajeta for dessert. Another excellent choice! It seems like it is more popular for dinner than for lunch, but we still enjoyed our meal and had great service. Oh, and a high chair with a tray for our son-- an added bonus! One caveat-- I speak enough Spanish that I had no problem ordering and interacting with our server. Not sure if they have an English menu or staff who can speak English to explain menu items. If you aren't super comfortable ordering in Spanish, use a translator on their online website before you go just in case.

Ordered a mango and strawberry daiquiri and they were not blended. Rim was something strange. Not salt, sugar nor tajin. Service was very slow. The guy was nice but would rather chat with his coworkers. Ordered an avocado pizza, and it tasted like something from the school cafeteria. Chaya crepes were soggy, drowned in sauce to the point where it nauseated me. God help anyone who comes here looking for a fulfilling meal. Included gratuity into the check, but told me I didn't have to pay it if I didn't receive good service. What a weird spot to be put in!?

Cocktails were very tasty and presented well, we enjoyed some mescal varieties and they were all good. I would recommend la Dona for the ladies, it's adorably decorated with a little candy on the side. Reasonable selection of mostly local fare but the tacos stood out, we had at least one of every one of them and were were impressed with both the quality and quantity. Maybe a bit pricy for the area but I consider it a good choice for casual dining, the outdoors seems to have a constant breeze due to the way the plaza is constructed.

The service was excellent and friendly, and the "outdoor" dining in the large activity center with a three story roof was very pleasant. My tender arrachera steak was marinated and grilled perfectly. In addition, the warm mousse center in the chocolate cake was absolutely delicious with the toasted meringue on top and vanilla ice cream and crumbled crust base on the side. Don't miss this restaurant if you're in the area!
