Awesome dance school with a lot of familiar charme!…read more I went there in order to learn Lindy Hop and Blues; don't worry if you don't have a dance partner, because actually most people who go there show up alone to the lessons, so that's definitely not going to be a problem for you. The lessons were fun and easy to follow, and the teachers are all super nice guys (especially the fellow who taught Blues was a riot :P)! Definitely make sure to check out the dance parties on Friday and Saturday nights as well; the people there are like one big family, the music is swell (you can ask the DJ to put on whatever you like) and the drinks are very cheap... and for the first 30 minutes, you can go in for free, which is really cool. This is definitely one of my favorite venues in Barcelona, and I'm pretty sure that I will be a regular here for a looong time to come. ;o)

I just took a trial Afro Jazz class at Faray's and a student doing a pirouette punched me in the nose while turning, giving me a bloody nose, knocking out my contact lens, and injuring my eye. Neither the teacher nor the receptionist offered me any assistance, not even ice for my nose. The teacher failed to organize the students in a way to minimize injury despite there being too many students for the size of the room to all dance at once. I'm 65 years old, from New York City, and have taken dance classes for over 50 years. Never has anything like this happened before. The receptionist even tried to lie and say that it's recommended not to wear contact lenses in dance class. Besides that being a discriminatory statement to a visually impaired person, it's a ridiculous lie as I studied dance on Broadway in New York, among other places, and know that not to be true. These people are irresponsible in my oponion and this dance school is unsafe because of the negligence of those running it.

Studio 180 and the owner, Fiona, provides quality instruction and the quaint, authentic environs of the old city. As I take Pilates back in the States, I signed up to take Studio 180's signature morning Pilates class. There were two other ladies in class with me, one Spanish speaking and the other spoke English. Fiona easily kept both languages up, in a calming but firm voice, and lead us through a vigorous but not painful hour class. The studio is on a quiet street, up a bit of a hill (pre-workout warm up! post workout cool down!), in the safe and mulit-national neighborhood of Poble Sec. It took me just 4 minutes walk up from Av Paralel and the metro stop (purple or green line, exit on the Nou de la Rambla side, near the Apolo). Really liked the tranquil feel of this small, but spacious studio. It could easily fit 8 clients, so as we were 3 it was lots of room to spread out with the props Fiona's classes provide (at no extra charge) for the class. The overall charge is a bargain at 10€ and she has packages. There are other types of classes too, but haven't tried those yet. Definitely my favorite place to workout in Barcelona and have personalized, excellent instruction. TL/dr: fitness classes in a personalized setting at a great price in historic BCN

BUT the most friendly people I have ever met and I managed to successfully workout in a Spanish only Pilates class. I am very self aware and have great body awareness because I am a part time fitness instructor so it was easy to follow along. Plus if the instructor knew English's word she would instructor in Spanish and English! I also became really good friends with another member and we have continued our friendship now that I am back home! When I go back to Spain I will be sure to visit again! Loveeeed it so much

My issues with the place are…read morethreefold; first of all, you are unable to book a reformer Pilates class, though "forma" Pilates in all its misleading glory is available so that created some confusion. Secondly, Dona 10 (the location on Carrer Corsega) is quite out of the way of nearly anything that many would consider convenient (it is on the far left side of L'Eixample, several blocks away from Passeig de Gracia). Finally, while the instructor was incredibly sweet and friendly (and the rest of the staff polite and helpful enough) the class was, in my opinion, not nearly rigorous enough for it to be worth the money. If you are looking for a moderate, calm session and don't mind being a bit out of the way Dona 10 is perfectly adequate, but for anybody with a taste for a little intensity and a more difficult workout I would try another spot. With that being said, I can only speak to the reformer classes, as they also have several other mat sessions which for all I know could be perfectly enjoyable.
