2017's 100 reviews challenge! 4/100 Best library in town!…read moreI've been looking for what seems like ages, for books related to Puertorrican myths and legends... I've called and visited so many libraries in PR I have lost count. During this past week I decided to go to Rio Piedras, "barrio" in San Juan, Puerto Rico's capital, where a lot of libraries surround one of the University of Puerto Rico. After going to 4 different libraries, I ran into this one. Little did I know I had found a gem in the middle of Río Piedras... One of the employees there took me to the second floor, where old, vintage and classic books are hidden from the public eye. Several first editions. This librarian took me on "a trip" down Puerto Rico's most interesting stories... after an hour or so I left the store with around 7 books based on the topic I have been looking for and every book ranged from $5-15. I took 7 books for little over $70.00 and when I reached for a CD of Puertorrican traditional songs, the librarian gave me the cd for free. This place is the best! They have from the newest to the oldest books! Do NOT hesitate to visit it if you love books.

On this visit I had the 3-cheese grilled cheese with tomato basil soup, paired with an iced dirty chai. The food was prepared quickly, and every bite was delicious. The menu items are named after authors and books, which is a charming touch. The place is always lively without ever feeling overwhelming. There were people working on their laptops, couples sharing lunch, and baristas who were friendly and quick. I also appreciate that they carry pieces by local artists. A lovely spot I'm happy to return to.

They have a good selection of books in both Spanish and English. We like that they have some travel books, art books, and a nice selection of both fiction and nonfiction. My only complaint is this place is going to be so popular, I wish they'd made the new location even bigger! Definitely recommend this place.

I don't mind having to order a copy of a book that may not be in stock but since they no longer sell books that need to be ordered it made the trip here frustrating. I guess this is why brick and mortar stores are going down all over because you walk in the store and they tell you to order it online if you want it. So sorry I really like going to book stores and I love the smell of brand new books.

Pricing was about as expected. We started with a Dark Nut Mocha and a Pocillo. Both were good. The nutty part of the mocha was hazelnut syrup, which was ok but not my thing. The waffle fries were as expected. The turkey on the turkey sandwich was thickly cut, about a half inch, which surprised me and was a bit odd texture-wise, but it was delicious and very filling. The onion rings were excellent. Battered onion rings are the best. All the ingredients on these sandwiches were fresh and ample. It was a delight to eat. This place has an amazing menu.
