I applied for a business credit loan at the bank I've used for 10+ years and was nearly instantly denied. I didn't understand how this could be possible. My credit is in the upper 700 range and my business has been profitable for years. I was told the only way to secure the loan necessary to take my business to the next level was to guarantee the loan with my personal credit. Since my business is an LLC with outside shareholders this did not seem ideal. After searching endlessly online and getting caught up in a maze of bank mumbo-jumbo and "free-credit" offers I came across a blog and subsequently a website which explained things in a way that was making sense. I decided to contact the gentleman and that has been one of the best decisions I've made in years. Todd of Liquidity Creations answered every single question I had, and I am a question-asker. I like to understand every aspect of something I'm unfamiliar with and he explained everything so well I assumed there just must be a catch. -There wasn't- Todd explained to me that the credit associated with my LLC had never been established even though we had been in business for years and have several years of tax documents showing we turn a strong profit. We have used dozens of vendors over the years and always paid on time and in most cases early, but evidently most vendors don't report on time payments to any credit agencies. This was news to me. After a very enlightening conversation Todd set me up with some vendors that DO report to these agencies and my business credit score has since skyrocketed. I now regularly receive credit offers in my business' name, which do not require association with my personal credit.
