This is a very swish looking 'beauty specialist' joint on Great Western Road. Both inside and out, it's clean, chic and ticks all the pretty boxes. Meanwhile, it offers a very full list of beauty treatments from the full on -chemical peels, hair removal malarkey to semi-permament makeup to the usual massage like stuff. I've only ever had the pleasure of a full body, head and face massage here so can't speak up about the more intrusive procedures. But, from my massage experience, I'll bet they would be good quality and at a good price. My massage lasted a little over an hour and worked out at less than a pound a minute. Not bad. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to provide myself with this luxury very often but for a birthday or stress treat. It's ideal as a pick me up. For a reasonable fee you'll get quality treatments, in a nice environment and without having to travel into the city centre. The staff - from the receptionist to the masseur - were all very pleasant and efficient. Indeed, there were no constantly ringing phones in the background through out my treatment. I believe I have mentioned before that I am not a regular patron of beauty salons due to the fact that I am too lazy to be very high maintenance. However Esteem Beauty isn't so much a beauty salon as a sort of mini spa. Esteem is very plush and sumptuous looking and you could almost believe you were in the spa of some 5 star hotel when you enter one of their lovely treatment rooms. None of the staff have the revolving door attitude that some beauty salons have where they just want you in and out as quickly as possible. At Esteem it is more about taking some time out of your busy schedule to relax and be pampered. As well as all the usual beauty treatments such as tanning, waxing and nail treatments you can also get more extreme (but non surgical treatments) such as microdermabrasion and chemical peels. A friend of mine suffered terrible acne during her teenage years and had a diamond microdermabrasion treatment to try and help with the left over scars on her face. After just one treatment (costing £45) there was a noticeable difference and my friend was really pleased with the result. Esteem recommends 6 treatments to get the full benefit but my friend was so happy with one that she felt no need to get any more! My experience of Esteem has been the couples room. While it's called a couples room it is designed for any two people who want to have a treatment together. I went with my mum for a chocolate therapy treatment. Yes that's right, chocolate therapy! They spread melted chocolate all over your face and body and massage you while you eat strawberries and drink champagne! AMAZING!! It was about £60 and it lasted just over an hour but it was soooooo worth it. The couples treatment room is really gorgeous as well, so all round it was a great experience. read more

Friendly and very lovely staff and I'll definitely be recommending to everyone! I'm a total fuss pot about my eyebrows (don't ask) and I've always been really happy with the service and results! My first impressions were very good. The salon is decorated nicely and is quite relaxing. The first wax I received was pretty good. I opted for hot wax as usual and I had a very friendly Scottish lady who did a good job on my Brazilian. I was a bit concerned about the double dipping but it didn't deter me from booking another appointment. However the next few times I went I had a different woman who was obviously new to waxing. The waxes I got from her were the most painful I have ever experienced! Not only that but she didn't do a very thorough job. I was not impressed, especially since I spend nearly £40. I went one more time because it was the nearest place that could book me last minute and again I got another woman. She was a bit more experienced but still wasn't very thorough. I also had to wait about half an hour but they made sure I had a comfortable wait in the massage chair with some tea. Overall my experiences have varied, but were more negative than positive and since are not consistent I will not be returning unless I'm desperate for a last minute appointment. read more

Esteem Beauty may appear to be a specialist establishment in Great Western Rd.,Glasgow l have used various beauty parlors around the country and this one is not on my top ten list . l found the staff pleasant enough but not very knowledgeable in the beauty buisness, the young girls who work there as obviously training which is acceptable but should not be front floor staff at thier level of training. l had a very simple pedicure/maicure only on this visit anticipation further treatments but lack of experience in this so called pamper left my feeling depleated So sorry folks this is one place to avoid read more

I would definetely warn anyone thinking of trying this salon to stay away....had high hopes when I walked in and the treatment rooms were very nice and the salon looks lovely, however, staff moral is very low which must have had a bad effect on the treatments I recieved. The treatments recieved were not great considering the prices and certainly not what should be expected from a salon in the west end. I assume this is due to the fact that the staff moral is so low, I was told that staff had only been paid half of what they should be and that a lot of them were very unhappy with the working conditions (not something you want to hear when your looking to relax and enjoy the treatment). I wont be back anytime soon and I think that management should take care of their staff a bit better if they want clients to return. Very dissapointed! read more

I must say that I agree with the last comment. The salon is beautiful however, it lacks proffesional persons to run it. I think the therapist who l had my treatment with is the owner, well l got that impression from her. Although she was nice to me l felt a bit uncomfortable as she seemed a bit distant at times. The therapy was of an average rating and l am sorry to say that l will not being using this salon again nor will l be recommending it to my friends also the cliental left a bit to be to be desired as while waiting to be taken, l witnessed a few too many men for my liking come and go. read more

Iv had a treatment done in this salon and athough it appeared to be very professional I would take a guess that the staff were still training to be beauticians as the treatment did not meet my expectations or the cost.... I feel I was very short changed in my visit to this salon. Also the fact that all of the staff had poor english made it difficult for me to explain exactly what I wanted, then to top it off I was made to feel very uncomfortable when the staff decided to hold a full conversation in another language... unless you are polish id give this salon a wide berth.... read more

I have passed by Esteem Beauty, on the Great Western Road, Glasgow, on many occasions. I work in Park Circus and I like to shopping in GWR and Byers Road. I have always been impressed by the look of the shop and its fittings, so I came on to Yelp to read some reviews before committing myself to a visit - I am looking to have some permanent make up done. I checked the reviews on Yelp and that in itself should have set the alarms ringing. The two visible reviews are very positive, in fact they use the same language to describe this beauty shop but, if one accesses the filtered reviews, these are almost wholly negative. With this in mind I decided on phoning Esteem Beauty to make a few enquiries rather than visiting and maybe feeling pressured into having a treatment I was not entirely sure that I would be satisfied with. When I called I was spoken to by a very pleasant woman with nice but rather heavy European accent. Now. I wouldn't want anyone to think that I consider race a problem, I don't. In fact I work with a charitable organisation that numbers a very high number of volunteers who were not born in Britain. Np. My problem with this lady was that she seemed to be having some difficulty in understanding my questions and answering them. Esteem Beauty's menu of services is extensive and expensive but this is not a problem if the customer is happy with what they get. Unfortunately, O on three separate occasions the girl at the opposite end of the phone put me on hold, presumably so as she could ask someone else for information. In the end, unable to get any satisfactory replies to my enquiries, I thanked her and gave up. Esteem Beauty may be a really good quality Beauty Salon but I have been put off by the inability of the staff to convince me of this. So I may be missing out but, especially, in today's strained economic climate, perhaps it is better to stay with a tried and tested salon rather than risk expensive disappointment. read more

I was desperate to get waxed before going abroad and my usual parlour revival retreat didn't have an 'soon' appointment. I went into this parlour with two overly familiar/friendly women who did my waxing and manicure/pedicure. What I can say is- never had I experienced such soreness when waxing and after 2 weeks I still have the redness!!! I never had such an experience with revival retreat as they are gentle with this area with maximum of 2 or 3 stripping but here she used a small strip and went over the area repeatedly so many times. I couldn't close my armpits the wholenight because of the redness and pain! I am sorry to say that I will never visit this place again. If you see her with small wax strips coming towards you run a mile is my advice. read more

Prospective clients of Esteem Beauty, in Great Western Road, Glasgow, should not be taken in by the shop façade or the impressive décor and furnishings. These grand fittings created an expectation which, in this customer, remain unsatisfied. I was in Glasgow a few weeks ago on holiday from my home in Ireland and visiting friends who live in the city's West End. While out walking I spotted the Esteem Beauty premises and decided to treat a friend and myself to a little pampering. Unfortunately the Esteem Beauty 'experience' left the two of us feeling badly let down. We were disappointed in the quality of or pedicures and this was exacerbated by the constant chattering between the two young Eastern European assistants who continuously talked about the superiority of their homelands and their people. I have no prejudice over where someone comes from but it is a bit galling having to listen to Scotland, a country and whose people I love, being traduced by two young girls who came here, presumably, to earn a living and better themselves. Notwithstanding the lack of gratitude, the unprofessionalism being displayed by these staff members was galling. As a further example to illustrate a wholly unsatisfactory experience my friend discovered later in the day that one of her toes was bleeding and on examination confirmed that this was as a result of the toe having received a 'nick' during the pedicure. There was no way, following our treatment at Esteem Beauty that my friend wished to return and complain to some condescending junior member of staff. By this stage she was completely enervated by the whole affair. I don't know who owns Esteem Beauty but one can't help but feel that he or she cannot be ignorant of the behaviour of the staff and if he or she is prepared to be tolerant of this treatment of clients then this shows an astounding level of indifference to customer satisfaction There is a great choice of beauty salons in Glasgow's West End and I have had pleasant experiences in all but one and that one is Esteem Beauty. Based upon my experience this salon is definitely one to avoid. read more

From the moment I walked in the door I was impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of each staff member . As for the results ---I am beyond thrilled . I had a bad reaction to a new face cream so needed to have my skin seen to. I am new to the area so did some research on different skin clinics and decided on Esteem beauty as I was impressed with the reviews that I read and the skin care range they used. Having read which different facials they provided I made an enquiry about which facial would work best for me. It was decided that I would get the skin clearing facial, 1hr-1hr45mins between £69-96 depending on the work to be done. Having read the description of the facial, I knew I would receive a facial massage and the use of high frequency on the skin. I myself am an aesthetician, I have been in the industry for 7 years (3 of which have been working in 5 star spas onboard cruise ships and still currently working there) so I am very particular. I knew going in very well what was wrong with my skin but sometimes it's best to have someone else diagnose. I must say it was the worst facial I have received in my life. I was asked to lay on a bed with a light blanket over me, no pillow, no bolster under my knees to relieve pressure from my back ( I knew I would need this knowing I would be lying down for at least 1 hour) I asked would I remove my jumper as I thought I would need to do so for the facial massage and also to avoid the possibility for any products getting on it, but I was told it was not necessary. My hair was held back with a hair net but in no way secure. One therapist cleansed my skin and put a warm mask on my face and when I asked what the mask did she didn't know, and said someone would be back shortly to finish the facial. I was appalled that it was going to take two therapists to do the facial. I was left ALONE in the room for about 15mins, very uncomfortable and cold. Later on another therapist came in, turned on all the lights so the room was bright and started to do extractions, put another mask on my face and left me ALONE again, lights were still on and nothing to cover my eyes to shield them from the brightness or to even relax me. About 15 mins later she returned and applied a moisturizer to my skin. I did purchase a face cream for my skin as I knew I needed to something to help. I was charged the full price for the facial although I had the minimum time required for the facial, and did not receive the facial massage either. I was absolutely disgusted leaving as it was the worst experience ever. read more
