As always…read moretheir large walk in humidor is immaculate and well stocked especially with non-Cuban cigars I am sure due to the worldwide shortage of Habanos. Despite their below normal Habanos selection I still walked out happily with a box of the new Regional Edicion for Espana - the Diplomaticos Privada II plus a handful of other Habanos. Cava Magallanes and Cava Barquillo are the mandatory stops for any serious cigar enthusiast in Madrid.

He was the older man who is a cigar enthusiast and managed the walk in humidor next door to the estanco. What this meant to the business is that the humidor next door is no longer open. The young lady who was working the day I visited was extremely nice and helpful. This was one of the reasons for four stars plus the store still has a well maintained and stocked cabinet humidor with a good selection of Habanos. I would recommend either Cava Magallanes or Cava Barquillo but if you are in this part of Madrid it is still a good option for cigars.

Still nothing to get overly excited about, hence the three star, but let's call this a fairly enthusiastic three. There's a lot of tobacco shops in the area but this is by and far the largest. It covers your basic cigarette smoking needs but where this place stands a teensy step above is their great sheesha (or hookah) selection. As one who has quit smoking half a dozen times, sheesha became a pretty standard find in the house. Yes yes I know... it's still tobacco, but it takes more effort to do, so it became my wee little "cheat" while quitting. This place has a good selection of flavoured tobaccos at really great prices. Plus they carry a decent selection of cigars and the staff speak english. If you puff, it's probably your best bet in the area.

I can't get over how cheap this is here in Madrid, but even against the other spots i've popped in, this little shop proved to be very reasonable. The folks behind the counter are sweet and deal with my very broken Spanish like champs.
