We went to Estadio Azteca for the NFL Game (Patriots vs Raiders) and it was unlike any other NFL game I've experienced, in a great and unique way. It was definitely an experience driven by Mexican culture and customs - it was clear that we were guests in their house. It was amazing to see and feel the Mexican pride as they sang (i.e. shouted at the top of their lungs) the national anthem. I chuckled about all of the clearly non-licensed NFL gear being peddled outside the stadium; the otherwise very trademark protective NFL must just shrug and let it be when in Mexico. They did have a store set up at the stadium selling official NFL gear for both teams. There are no concessions built into the stadium - you'll find no chains here - but instead, there are food trucks lined up outside the stadium and vendors walking around throughout the game selling all sorts of things like donuts, cup of noodles, popcorn, pizza, hamburgers, candy, slushies, etc. and everything is dirt cheap ($1-$2 per item). It was interesting to see how many Mexicans are true NFL fans. I'd say only 10% of the stadium was filled with people who had traveled from the US, mostly Raiders fans, 40% Mexican Patriots fans, 40% Mexican Raiders fans, and 10% Mexican fans of the NFL wearing other teams' jerseys. While the crowd was a bit rowdy, it was not in a disrespectful way at all. I've experienced much worse at NFL stadiums in the US. Note that there are people who will ask to see your ticket and take you to your seat for a tip. It's hard to avoid this, but they do wipe down the seats for you and that alone might be worth the tip. The stadium itself is okay.. a bit dated and bare.. sound isn't great but the announcements were in Spanish anyways. There was wifi but it was choppy due to the size of the crowd, and the TV's were a bit small. So the stadium itself is nothing special, but the experience certainly is. read more

Viajamos desde lejos y siendo extranjeros no tuvimos donde dejar nuestro bolsos tuvimos que rentar hotel solo para dejar nuestras bolsas chicas. Hubieron muchos con mochilas i bolsos y les dieron pase a nosotros no agarraron y no negaron El Paso. Quieren pintarla de muy estrictos y francamente el estadio carece de organización y está deteriorado por fuera y por dentro. Are you a futbol fan? Cuz I'm not. Got dragged here for a tour. It was a little under $200 pesos each, but the group was way too big. Most of the places (like the locker rooms, or the conference area) were too small to fit everyone. The stadium itself is kinda old and really, really grey. Got to check out the field, which was fine. There was a 10 foot pit between the field and the stands with no guardrails, and with random water leaking from machines. So I guess, no OSHA laws in Mexico? The pitch was nice though. I really don't want to hate on a clear extension of the Raider Nation. The entire atmosphere was truly bent in favor of a (at-a-distance) home game, nonetheless the enormity and the lack of accessibility of this facility was horrendous. First, entry lines begin at the street which must be equivalent to several city blocks from the stadium entrance. Second, you're only allowed to enter in the single entrance dedicated to your section. Getting to the third tier end zone seats required circling the stadium, climbing a couple flights of stairs, and ascending three uphill ramps. Third, once inside locating your seat requires a GPS navigation system or a well versed guide. Forth, almost no one speaks any English including the emergency personnel so don't require any assistance. Fifth, most of the personnel have no idea where things are and I didn't see a food concession stand anywhere. Depending on where you're seated determines if vendors will step over and around you to sell edibles or pass your food purchase through a barbed-wire fence opening. Either way it's very distracting. The worse part is that the vendors sell cigarettes which leads to the final and most egregious part of the experience, smoking is EVERYWHERE! Take the elevation, the pollution/smog, plus the cigarette smoke into account and breathing is surely impaired. If you must go: --take a mask or scarf to guard against ghastly inhalation --pack some real food --if possible be in top physical condition --limit heavy food or drink beforehand --avoid alcohol or substance use (hint) Last note: There was only one bathroom facility outside the stadium for 76K attendees. read more

Old but still appealing, like an old shoe. Reminds me of Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. Definitely from the same era. Easy to get into and out of and well organized. The crowd was not rowdy at all which made it all the more enjoyable. read more

I don't need to write anything. If you love football, you should go here if you have the opportunity. A place where some of the most magical, controversial and important things in the history of football happened. It was only the Jaguars visiting and the stadium was only 1/3rd full but the noise and singing was amazing. Tame match on the field - America took the lead, Jaguars equalised and America won it in the second half. Amazing stadium. read more

The sheer size of this place deserves 5 stars, but because it's so big, it's hard to see (or hear) anything if you're in the nosebleed seats, which is where I sat for a concert. With a 100,000+ person capacity, I'm sure this venue makes for a great "football" experience, but the concert experience wasn't that great. In fairness, I paid much less to sit in general admission versus stand on the floor, but we could barely hear anything and the screens at each end of the stadium are useless for viewing since they're so small. read more

I came here for the Estadio Azteca tour back in September. The tour was about $14.00 per person. The tour was all in Spanish. No English. It was kinda hard to understand the girl doing our tour since she spoke her Spanish too fast. The group was too big and hard to listen to her. They take you around the stadium, press conference, locker room (America club) and on the field. The rule was you couldn't take video at all and you must not step one foot on the field. You would get fine about a thousand dollars, which made no sense. The stadium itself is kinda old and really, really grey. The sounds of the pitch are absolutely amazing though. They have a Nike store onsite if you want to purchase merchaise. They had vendors outside selling stuff as well. The surrounding areas didn't look that dangerous but, not safe either. It was a great experience though. But, wish it was longer. The whole tour took 45 minutes. read more

Get your act together. If you can't handle hosting NFL games don't accept the event. Fans lost a lot of money because of your inability to manage something as simple as field conditions. 255 of 256 NFL games will be played this year in stadiums just like yours that host concerts and other sporting events. You were the one place that dropped the ball. Good luck renewing contracts with the NFL in the future. Pathetic. read more

The Estadio Azteca is one of the largest stadiums in the world in capacity wise. It is the home to 2 World Cup finals and many superstars have entertained the people on the field. Overall it was a fun experience to come see the NFL Mexico game here, but I would only need to do it once. Even with a forecast of 64 for a high, the direct sunlight had us sweating ALL day and we had to take breaks in the shade and miss parts of the game. There are no booths or vendors for self-service, so everything is brought right to your seat, which is nice unless what you want isn't coming around! Also, they ONLY serve beer - and only 2 kinds: Bud and Bud Lite. When you enter the stadium there is a line of workers waiting their turn to take you to your seat and dust the imaginary dirt off and put their hand out for a tip - even if you've left and are coming back in for a second or third time! Overall I would say Mexico did a decent job at attempting to accommodate so many fans and tourists, but this did not even come close to living up to my standards - call me a snooty American I guess?? Anyways, if you're going to come to a game here, don't come too early. It's not worth the time spent baking in the sun. OH! A tip! Buy all your fan gear and merch outside of the stadium gates where they're not actually legit. I got a "Raiders v. Patriots Mexico Game" hat for $7USD that everyone was asking about all day long. read more
