Arriving into Grenada via the Alsa bus was the most direct from Malaga airport. We also used the bus as our backup to get to Cordoba after all the high speed trains were cancelled. Arrival and departures took place on the lower level along with a restaurant, lottery ticket booth and relatively clean bathrooms. Taxis and uber rides were caught outside the upper level. Ticket counters were here as well and always had long lines. Booking online was so much better and if you created a with ALSA they also provided a discount on the fares. Buses pulled in and out of the bays on the lower level and the schedule board was handy to figure out which one had our departing bus. Arrival from Malaga airport was ahead of schedule but our bus to Cordoba was delayed by half an hour. Unfortunately the schedule board dropped the destination once the original departure has passed even if delayed. We arrived at this station, about 15 min from the historic center to get our bus to Malaga. The station has two levels, where the bus platforms are in the lower level. There is signage about arrival and departure information all over the station. We took ALSA for our trip. ALSA stands for Automóviles Luarca, S.A. and it operates bus and coach services in Spain and other countries across Europe, including Andorra, Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland and Ukraine. Came here to catch a bus from Granada to Málaga. There is free WiFi on the premises but not on the bus. You can buy your ticket online which I did - they charge a small processing fee but this way you don't have to wait in line. Also it guarantees you a seat which is muy importante when it's peak season! The toilets here were closed. Why the f@ck would you shut down toilets at a bus terminal?!? Crazy. So I walked a couple of blocks to the McDs (very clean btw) and used their facilities. There is also an Aldi supermarket next to the McDs. The bottom floor is where you board the buses and can access the cafeteria and the top floor is to purchase tickets. I'd rather take the train but buses are cheaper and everyone takes them. Plus for some reason the trains weren't running! Be cognizant of your surroundings however - I did see one American girl whose bag got taken unfortunately. read more

I was here at Granada Autobus Station waiting for my overnight Alsa bus direct to Madrid Airport in the middle of the night. It was quiet but at least I felt relatively safe. The Station is small but clean. There is a food court like area but most of the business was closed by the time I got there. Location though a little far from the main business area so the best way to get here is by hiring a cab. I did enjoy Alsa Premium Bus Service which runs direct from here to Madrid Airport twice a day and back which is super convenient if you have flight to catch! read more

Pro: very small and therefore easy to navigate. Con: very small and therefore not a whole lot of food options inside the station if you're hungry or have to wait. Easy access to taxis outside of the station. I can't speak for the bathrooms or wi-fi. read more

Got up early and caught a taxi from hotel to Malaga bus station to board 7am bus for 2 hour day trip to Granada for 10am Alhambra guided tour at 10am. The ALSA supra bus is clean modern with free WiFi and tv screen in front for movies and entertainment (use your own earphone). Comfortable seats with plenty leg room. Don't believe there's bathroom on board. The Estacion de Autobuses de Granada on Juan Carlos ll looks run down and gritty compared to Malaga's. It is a major transportation hub. Escalator takes you to street level exit where taxis line up in front. A cab ride to Alhambra at 9am cost us 12e. The ride through narrow windy uphill streets with many street lights at some parts attributed to the fate. After tour we walked down to Plaza Nuevo ate lunch and caught a cab here for 7euros. We stood on line at ALSA counter to move our departure from 6pm to 5pm got a fee of 1.40 e per ticket. After a great deal of uncertainty and confusio we kga. found out we had been switched to a Portillo bus at gate 11. Bus has no free wifi or entertainment screen in front of seat. Bus left station 15 min late but delivered us back to Malaga speedily and safely in heavy rain two hours later. read more

Everywhere in downtown Granada is beautiful, but the bus station in Granada needs vast improvements. For those that do not know, going from Madrid to Granada and vice versa is easiest via ALSA bus due to to being direct travel. Trains require transferring, and flying would take equally long or longer and is more expensive as well. Hence, you see many travelers travel via ALSA buses within Spain. All types of routes that you can imagine would be covered by the bus including to major locations such as Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Granada, etc. Going back to the station of Granada, the station does not even have any ALSA premium lounge. If you buy ALSA premium fare, you are supposed to have access to ALSA premium lounge, which offers a high-end lounge like experience at airports with free drinks and rest area. The station is also invaded by many homeless people, which is unfortunate in multiple ways. The ongoing renovation also introduces many chaos at the station. I hope the next time I stop by, it would be in better shape. read more

I prefer train travel over bus but unfortunately buses are more convenient way to travel from Madrid to Granada and from Granada to Seville as they are direct ( no transfers) and faster. I had some problems with ALSA bus company to start my trip which ultimately left me missing my originally booked travel on premium bus ( I ended up waiting several hours at Madrid bus station and taking economy bus - uncomfortable, no bathrooms and I would not recommend) to start my trip from Madrid to Granada but after some push back they did give me a refund. I read online on TripAdvisor and Google reviews just how nasty the Granada bus station was so I was prepared. It truly is nasty. Trash everywhere, dirty bathrooms, construction and long lines at automated machines. I didn't see a ticket window with an actual person so buy tickets online in advance if you can. They have a food court but I couldn't believe people were eating in there. It looked disgusting. I had to walk through the food court to go to the bathroom and I was just waiting to see some rodent running by my feet. Although, the sign indicate number of platform buses would be arriving and departing there are no actual platform numbers listed inside. You have to walk outside to find numbers listed. It's a small bus station so it's not huge deal but still who wants to be searching outside for correct platform in bad weather. It's unfortunate that the main transportation in Granada is via this bus station and this is the first and last thing people see when coming into the city. When I was a college student, I traveled by bus all the time in US and I have been to bus stations in major cities like NYC, LA and Philadelphia etc. and I have never seen anything like this. read more
