The store is very well stocked. The selection was very easy. The installation of what we bought is priceless.

YOOOOOO did you all know this was happening? A Crate and Barrel outlet in Metro Detroit? Because I…read moredidn't! I stumbled upon a news article about the opening just this afternoon and made a beeline for them almost immediately. I'm in the market for a new dresser and thought it would be good to get there sooner rather than later. The space is no frills, pretty open concept with everything stretched before you. It's a huge space tho, so there's a lot to browse. They opened just yesterday and we were informed that many of their outdoor pieces were snatched up but there was still A TON of stuff to consider. If you're looking for a new couch or living room furniture you have to get there now because that makes up the majority of their stock. I also spent some time with the dining tables as I'm looking for a new one for our house as well. It's an outlet so, as expected, what you're going to lose in slightly damaged pieces you'll make up in markdowns. They had a number of beautiful pieces that I had admired on their websites (this store covers Crate and Barrel, CB2, and Crate and Barrel Kids, FYI) with injuries ranging from small nicks to full on scratches and damaged corners (those pieces were priced accordingly, tho). There was a really nice dining table with a few leafs that I considered but after spending almost 15 years with a scratched up table I inherited from a cousin I think that's one item I'd like to be in pristine condition if I can help it. They also have a ton of office furniture, a bit of patio, beds/headboards, nightstands, sideboards/buffets, consoles, coffee tables, etc. They also had a lot of dressers. I considered a couple but the space I'm looking to fill is on the smaller side and there weren't any options this time around petite enough. But it was cool to see so many of the dressers I'd drooled over on their website pretty deeply marked down (an additional 50% on bedroom furniture) without any noticeable damage. The perimeters of the store are filled with shelves full of decor and other home items like bedding, hampers, and a ton of kitchenware like dish sets, serving ware, pots and pans and even a few small appliances like microwaves and even a KitchenAid mixer on sale. The thing about outlets, though, is if you go in looking for anything in particular you're probably NOT going to find it. But if you go in without expectations you'll surely walk out with a lot of treasures. Since I was in the former camp today I didn't leave with anything but I can't wait to regularly pop over there to scour their new arrivals (a staff person told us they plan to get 2-3 shipments a week) and hopefully bring home something special in the future!

La-Z-Boy failed their audition…read more This experience ... is not what I expected for a Michigan-based company known for excellence. It has a whiff of private equity stink. Yup. Blackrock and Vanguard are the big investors. Specifically: La-Z-Boy struggles to sell pillows. I am down-sizing to my retirement condo. I am replacing most of my furniture. After this experience, I will not spend another thin dime at any La-Z-Boy store. We were trying to buy five (5) decorative pillows for $15 ea and a $20 footstool. - Thirty-two (32) minutes - Four (4) sales reps involved at various points The La-Z-Boy whiz bangs at the Head Shed have deployed a goofball tablet-based system to decelerate the sales process and crater the customer experience. Luckily, there is a word for this! "Enshittification" was Word of Year for 2024: the misapplication or decline of technology for the benefit of business/shareholders at the expense of the user/customer experience. La-Z-Boy cannot figure out how-to sell pillows and footstools. Nor could the app correctly total what should have been: (($15*5)+$20)*1.06 = $100.70 It took me less than 10 seconds to correctly total the amount. I offered cash. Exact change. Let me leave, puhleeze. Cash was refused because ... paperwork! Paperwork must be signed! Scanners and barcodes made their debut for retail on June 26, 1974 - nearly fifty-four (count'm 54) years ago. La-Z-Boy has barcodes, but no scanners. Everything must be manually entered, lookups fail, errors corrected ... lather, rinse, repeat, repeat, repeat ... for each item. Whoever the heck is responsible for this (cough) business process ... where did I leave my VooDoo doll? There is also a one page T&C document that I was expected to sign without reading. Two sales reps actually said, "Just sign it. You don't need to read it" and became frustrated when I insisted on reading it, and were unhappy that I took a pic of it. Buy furniture? Spend $10k+. Gawd knows how they might screw-up a warranty claim. Actually; after reading the warranty claim reviews ... I think I dodged a bullet.
