The service here is quite excellent and the food and events make you feel like you're home. This building is also a historical site that dates back to the 1500s and is now a family-run business. Villa Bonera's frescoed ceilings, the ancient fortepiano in the hall at the second floor, the dining room that was originally the chapel of the villa, contain so many stories - including a few ghosty ones! From being an ideal location for a wonderful getaway near Genoa, Hotel Villa Bonera certainly won't disappoint. If you go, say hello to Roberto, Gabriella, and their children, Marco and Barbara. This breakfast topped all the 5 star hotels we visited in Europe. You eat breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea and the water polo pool next door. While you eat you eat the bells chime from at least 4 local churches and it's one of the most beautiful symphonies I've ever heard! Our room had a patio overlooking the sea and it had room for two chaise lounges and a table with two chairs. Recco is a sleepy old beach town where locals summer it was wonderful. We paddleboarded took the boat across the way to several locations and loved every moment. Enjoy this quaint hotel we loved it.

As a lifetime platinum Marriott member; this is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. I've stayed at roadside motels with better service. Maids don't replenish towels, soaps or the "complementary" waters; restaurant staff are politely rude and the internet is EXTREMELY unreliable. If your job and/or home life relies on the internet to maintain relationships; I can guarantee you won't be impressed. During breakfast at their "restaurant", I clearly observed a back office clerk come to the front desk and admonish a front desk receptionist in the presence of guest attempting to check out. Although I don't speak Italian, it's the same tone in any language. The receptionist are helpful but clearly have no support from management. Blatantly, the management here is trying to cut costs. I stayed for over a week and will not be returning.
