Our now 4 year old has been at Esperanza since she was 2 years old. She went to another much smaller, daycare previously which we loved but since we moved we had to find another daycare. We came to Esperanza upon recommendation from a family friend with a child and we are SO GRATEFUL for that recommendation. Our child is currently in the 3-4s class called the Angelfish which is led by Ms Lisa and Ms Ruby. Prior to entering angelfish, our child was VERY clingy, very quiet around her peers, and ALWAYS had to have her stuffie. Sure it was cute, but when you literally cannot go one single place without a stuffed animal and God forbid you lose the stuffie I felt like my little kiddo was hanging onto being a baby for as long as possible. There were noticeable positive changes once she entered angelfish classroom, the teachers were kind and encouraging but they stuck to certain boundaries which I REALLY appreciate because I know children need structure, clear rules, and a safe and nurturing environment to thrive but sometimes it's hard doing that for the few hours of time you have with your child at home. Although our child was very very nervous to make the transfer to her new class, we noticed within a month or two, she loved her stuffie but no longer needed it everywhere she went. She regularly started using new positive/kind language (which she got from her teachers :) ), she became much more social with kids at the parks, she would sit and eat her ENTIRE meal before getting up to play. The list goes on. These may sound like small things or things that might naturally have occured at her age, but we know these things in particular were highly motivated and clearly demonstrated at her daycare on a consistent basis. Outside of our childs behavior, my husband and I have been so impressed with the thorough communication from the teachers and the school. Esperanza and their teachers are highly communicative and do so in respectful manners. We also really like the teachers in general. Ms Lisa, Ms Ruby, Ms Franny, and Ms Tina, Ms Lydia and Ms Valerie have all been great to get to know over the last 1-2 years. I'm also so surprised that even though the school is quite large, MOST teachers we walk past know our child's name and always greet her (teachers I've never seen or met. I ask my child who they are and if they're nice and she's always replied that they are super nice to her ) I'm so glad that we chose Esperanza where there are like.. literally 6-8 playgrounds for kids to play, high parent and teacher engagement, and a safe space for our little one to grow into a big girl We are especially grateful to Ms Lisa and Ms Ruby as this is our last few months at Esperanza before we move states, they've been such great leaders for our classroom and I know all the angelfish parents feel this way as we get together quite frequently and I've only ever heard positive remarks about our teachers read more

I have nothing but absolutely wonderful things to say about Esperanza. I am so sad to be moving out of the area and having my daughter start a school elsewhere. The teachers, the staff, the other parents and my daughters school friends have been so instrumental in her young life. She is excelling tremendously from the schools curriculum. As a first time mom, the school also guided me when I had no family or other parent friends during COVID. I highly recommend Esperanza all around and have not a single negative thing to say about the school, teachers or staff. I felt so comfortable leaving my daughter in their care and know they have done a far better job at setting my daughter up for success and helped develop her self confidence better than I ever could have done on my own. My daughter and I were so fortunate to have been able to be a part of the Esperanza family for the last 3 years. No other school I considered remotely compares to this one. The tuition was more than worth the value received. We are very sad to be moving out of town; the commute just is not practical or I would have done so. I've heard great things about this school through close friends. I've even driven by the location and they have an awesome outdoor play area. It seems like a wonderful school overall. My rating is based on the fact that the first time I inquired to waitlist my son, someone took down my number and told me to expect a call later that day. That call never came at all. The second time I inquired (about a year later) I felt like the enthusiasm was lacking from the person I spoke with. She was able to provide me all the details but overall, they didn't seem interested in waitlisting or enrolling my son. I also inquired about the waitlist, they said they would put me down. We've had our son at this school for over 2 years. The team is exceptional. When we walk in, for as big as it is, most of the teachers, and many who have never had my son in their class, say hi to him by name. His teachers as an infant, Ms. Cynthia and Sophia helped me get through that first hard year, and made me a better parent. His current teachers Ms. Laura and Ms. Diana love and care for him as if he was their family... and they have a constant flow of older students coming to say hi. I know it's a pricey school and the wait list is long, but I can honestly say that He friends he has made, and the ones I have too, are invaluable to me and I feel my son is in an environment that encourages him to love, grow and thrive. read more

We have 3 kids (ages 5,3,3) in Esperanza, our oldest child has been here since he was 8 months old and is now graduating on to Kinder so only for this reason, we are moving all 3 to the same school next year (one pickup!). I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Esperanza. The teachers are all so caring and kind, the administrators clearly care about the education of the children, and the staff are all so wonderful with our kids. We left for a week to try another school nearby when our son was 16 months old, and immediately regretted our decision and came back to Esperanza as soon as we could. We love it so much that the day we found out we were having twins, we drove to Esperanza to put our name on the waitlist for 2 more kids. When we moved 30 minutes across town 2 years ago, we decided to still drive our kids to Esperanza every day because we feel we could not find a better school for them to attend at this age. I love that my kids come home with an experience or activity every day that they tell me about. We also feel that our 5 year old son is incredibly well-prepared for Kindergarten. Our son loves this school however there are a couple of things I think could be improved: $1300 / month until your child is at least 18 months old on Sept 1st, then it is $1250. This makes no sense to me it should depend on your child's age as it does with other day cares. The only way to have your child's tuition reduces (per talking with the school) is to have them switch classrooms at 18 months. No fridges in the wee-bits classrooms (the age after infants). So all food & milk needs to be brought in coolers. This has been a big change for us since all the infant rooms have fridges & freezers. Apparently talking to my son's new teacher last week they are only starting baby sign language this year. Our son did learn "more" with his infant teachers but is still working on adding words. So I asked his weebit teacher what signs they use at school so we can do the same at home, she didn't really have an answer for me. I believe at orientation (which we attended before our son was born) they said Esperanza does baby sign language so I was surprised by her response. If this is a must have for you when choosing day cares you might want to get a more solid answer from the school. Now that my son has been attending for a year its not a reason for me to transfer but while enrolling it may have effected my decision. My favorite things about this school so far are: The campus is huge so the kids can really get a long walk in even when it is raining. They have the outdoors and indoors decorated with different objects for the kiddos to explore and identify. Our teachers (infant & weebits) really care about the children and although the school has rules that seem strict at times the teachers will bend them and will let your child grow at their own pace. The teachers really want the kids to be happy and work with parents to achieve this goal. For example the transition from purees to finger foods. We are having trouble getting valuable day sheets from our weebits teachers. These are required by state law up to 17 months. (Subtracting 1 star) read more

My experience has been wonderful at Esperanza School. I was so disappointed when I found out that we were moving away. Can Esperanza please come with us to New Mexico? My son has been going here since he was 8 weeks old and we love it. The teachers are lovely to the kids and the yards and the classroom setup, especially in the full-time program, are perfect. He has learned so much since he has been there and you can tell they really give children the one-on-one attention they need. He was in the full-time program, our favorite teachers were Miss Christina and Miss Jennifer in the Little Bloomers house. Honestly, the main reason I loved this school to start with was because of the home atmosphere, it is very welcoming and I love the little Heights cottages. Each cottage hosts a different age group and each room has even finer tuned age groups by about six month groupings. The full time program runs from 6:30 to 6 five days a week and you can start at 6-months. But get on the waiting list quickly. We were on 6-months before birth! A few months ago we moved to the short-stops program in the Discovery Center. We like it but we do not love it like we did the full-time program. The staff is perfect, I think it is the building, yard and classrooms I do not like. It is sort-of depressing and they are still planning the outside play area and should begin construction shortly. Because of that and because the Short-Stops summer program is canceled(!!) I took away 1 star. Short-Stops is a shorter day program and runs from 8:30-2:30 and you can do MWF, TTH or five days a week. The program is from 18-months to 4 years. Esperanza is on the pricey side but is normal for the area. It is more expensive than the church run schools and right around the other private schools in the area. Choosing a daycare for your child is the hardest thing - you want to ask so many questions and know the "real story" at any place before you commit. We didn't start out at Esperanza (we were at another highly acclaimed school....) but we switched when my daughter was 11 months due to issues at our previous facility. I cannot say enough good things about the staff and our experience with Esperanza. Almost everyone we have come in contact with has been so loving and nurturing, and at the end of the day, that's what matters more than anything else when trusting your baby with someone other than yourself. Office communication wasn't always great in the beginning, but we haven't had any issues. I've been so impressed with how organized they are - move ups were so seamless, unlike our previous school, and the day schedule is optimized for as much one on one time and outside time as possible. No place is completely without their issues, but I can say with 100% certainty I always feel like my daughter is loved. read more

Scheduling a tour is like finding the Holy Grail. I exchanged several emails with their admission coordinator in June about my interest in their preschool program and she told me that she can't schedule the tour due to I only intend to enroll my daughter in next January. She asked me to call back after Labor Day holiday to schedule a tour. I fully understand a wait-list for admission but 3 months for a tour? You've got to be kidding me. I told her I can't wait that long to have a tour since I am in the midst of searching for a good preschool to see whether Esperanza is a right fit for my daughter. So far.....no response from her. Well, I guess the school is so well known and famous that they couldn't care less about an anxious parents that want to check out their school. I have no problem to schedule any tour from preschool that I am interested in, even St Rose of Lima. They said I can drop by between a certain time of the day, and don't even have to schedule. Very Organized, Structured and friendly. My boy is about 2 and is in Ms Lupe's class. Over a short period of time, he was noticeably better with his ABCs, Numbers and playing Books than he had been previously. A 2 year old does naturally learn fast but I'm comfortable with saying that Esperanza has made a positive impact on his learning and behavior. As others have mentioned, I too had a very hard time getting a tour. My advice is to take what ever you can get and just take off work if you have to. It is a pain but they do their job well so I can't complain. Don't forget to check out the Saturday daycare. read more

She is always extraordinarily happy to go every morning. She seems very alert and socially interactive for a child of her age. At first I loved Esperanza! They were attentive and transparent and helpful, then when my child went to Afterschool things changed dramatically for the worse, except Ms. Angel. She is an Angel. Going on, The afterschool asked me to volunteer for a field trip after someone backed out. I answered exactly 1 minute after asked wth "yes". Got to properly in 4 mins where the field trip vans were still out front. I was told no My child could not attend YET again. I then asked if I could drop my child off to the field trip because parents cant ride in the bus (like they have in the past) but was told again "no". This was the second offense that they refused to let my child attend. The manager personalized why I would be upset (duh he was so excited) that my child had to sit with a bunch of younger children while his friends were able to go. I then called the Director, Valerie, who was rude, yelled at me, acted like a petulant child, tattled to my ex husband to whine about my complaint which then sent a slew of harassments and hung up on me after asking why she told him I wasn't allowed on premises. She said she never said that, but my ex claimed she did. She wouldn't return his money and I was told I was at fault... all for wanting to volunteer!? I made Zero threats and told her. I stayed professional. I asked for all documents which Valerie was hesitant and I feel left a lot of things out. As if that wasn't bad enough, their are children discussing suicide at the age of 6! My son was choked, pushed off the slide, kicked in the stomach and was found crying under a table. No one did anything. They turned the paperwork in 2 days later and hesitated to give me the documents that showed his injuries. I had a group of people surround my car to confuse and deflect the injuries. They hide injuries and this is a place where your child should be safe while you are working. When I met with them in a "private room that was promised no one would know my concerns", The owner then told me I had psychological problems, which was then retracted later by saying "you're "acting" crazy (semantics). It was insulting! This all happened in a matter of 4 months. They act like your friend, but gossip about you behind your back to your friends. They hide important injury information unless you demand it. Its NEVER their fault though. Going forward I will never send my child to that school and I highly suggest you request all documentation pertaining to your childs safety. read more

We chose Esperanza School when Bridget was born and she attended all 4 years before kindergarten. Each class where she "moved up" brought another team of caring and engaged teachers. We saw our daughter really grow within each program. There is a keen focus on social skills as well as centers-based learning. We absolutely love Esperanza. My daughter has been there for about two years and we cannot say enough good things. Yes, I think we did have issues scheduling a tour, but I can only assume that was due to high-demand. We came from a prestigious, yet neglectful Montessori and feel blessed we were able to get in. Our teachers have been absolutely amazing and it has been nice to have a community of parents who are actively involved. The few times we have had a concern, the Administration has addressed it head-on. People routinely compliment our child for her excellent speech and how advanced she is. I credit that in large part to the curriculum at Esperanza. The facility may not be as new as some of the others, but the expansive outdoor area is impossible to find inside the Loop. My little girl particularly loved the stroller rides by the chickens and bunnies. I can't say the school is perfect, but it has been the perfect choice for us. My only suggestions: The pathways get muddy when it rains. It would be wonderful if they offered a dual-language class/option. The Spanish Ancillary is nice, but not enough exposure to really learn the language. Offer classes up through elementary schools-the elementary schools in the Heights are not all created equal. read more

As others reviewing Houston area day cares have stated, determining who should care for your child while you are at work is a difficult and stressful decision. Our family has considered and experienced a few of the more popular and frequently reviewed day cares inside the 610 loop and feel that we have found a gem in Esperanza. It is hard to know what to reasonably expect and how to gauge the quality of care provided when you are dealing with such a young child--your son or daughter cannot actually tell you whether they like the teachers, program, or facility. But what you can observe is whether your child is happy and whether the program provides a sense of community, compassion, and love for the children--that is what we have found at Esperanza that makes it stand out from the rest. You cannot help but feel a great deal of appreciation, respect, and admiration for the teachers (special thanks to Ms. Glynis and Ms. Denise). My wife and I particularly appreciate the special care and attention that the teachers pay to each child's needs and the enjoyment that they share with us as parents in each of our child's developmental milestones. It truly has been an experience that, as first time parents, we may have unreasonably expected of the caregivers for our child, but could not be more pleased that those expectations were met and even exceeded by the teachers and staff at Esperanza. Even teachers from other classes, administrators, and staff who you encounter on a daily basis seem equally committed to your family's feeling of security and comfort at Esperanza. It is not unusual to run into another teacher or administrator at the facility who will call your child by name. You may not even have personally met them, but these caregivers know your child and provide a sense that they truly care about his or her well-being and enjoyment while in their care. The Esperanza experience provides a sense of community that, quite simply, feels like the exception to the rule. Many of the criticisms of day cares around Houston concern the long wait lists and application fees to get on these lists. My recommendation to my friends who are expecting and need child care has been to get on any and all lists where think you might be willing to place your child, but if you get a spot at Esperanza grab it and don't let go. read more

Esperanza has been the BEST experience for our son. Our only regret is that we did not find the school sooner. He attended Kids R Kids and a Montessori school out West and neither can even compare to Esperanza. He has made many friends and has really shined here. The Blue Eagle teachers are kind, patient, dedicated, and have lots of early childhood learning experience. As a current Assistant Principal, I can say that the curriculum is top notch, differentiated, and individualized. This preschool experience will be hard to top. read more

As a former employee of the Esperanza School I would like to say this is a beautiful school to work for. The environment is clean and reminds me of being in a Disney movie. The owner of the school works very hard to make sure the students are comfortable and all rooms are specifically designed to accommodate all students. From my experience, the students were happy and joyful and I could tell they were taken very care of and not neglected like many other schools I've had to sit in when I was in college for credit. The learning style used is perfect for these students and you can tell how intelligent they are because of how this school helped to develop them. The president Alexandra and her staff works very hard around the clock to make sure things are prepared and students are safe and careful. They make sure things are sanitized and also provide proper instructions to teachers so that students don't catch and spread rashes. They have so many activities and programs to choose from and it reminds me of me when I started public school as a late 2 year old because I was accepted into an enrichment program. It prepared me so much. This was a wonderful school to be apart of and work for! Out of my 3 years working there and being in this atmosphere I have to give this school an excellent 5 stars! Update to my previous review: after just having my kids out of Esperanza, one HUGE thing difference is their sleep schedules got so much better. Esperanza forces kids to lie down quietly for two hours every day. My kids, once they hit 2 to 2 1/2 no longer needed more than half an hour of nap at most. But, they force them to lie on their mats, and so most kids fall asleep out of boredom. Getting them to bed at night was such a chore weeknights, and I did not realize how much this excessive napping was contributing. Since staying home with a nanny, they have made more progress academically in one month than they had the prior 6 months at Esperanza, and they go to sleep at their bedtimes. Yea! read more

Our little 15-month old daughter was fortunate enough to attend Esperanza and we are so grateful. We had tried another school in Houston and found that she was not receiving the kind of nurturing she had been getting from her nanny since she was 3 months old. Within a week, our daughter was not crying when dropped off. Her teachers Ms Amy and Ms Crystal immediately welcomed her with such warm hearts. Our first week, the director Ms Charmaine and Ms Zada made sure we were kept up to date, calling me to give me updates every so often with pictures etc. Very quickly I started noticing how well our daughter started to blossom. She would even want to stay longer when I picked her up from class. She learned how to blow kisses and just developed so many loving traits. In addition, she is a bright kid, while we teach our daughter at home, I love the philosophy Esperanza employs. I was so surprised to see my 18-month hold holding a crayon properly like a pen one day. She would come home and her ability to master puzzles just accelerated while at Esperanza. I would recommend Esperanza to anyone and we love love love love love the school, the teachers and everyone we have met have been so warm. This school is like a family. The annual school festival is so amazing, its hard to describe. We will miss Esperanza as we move to a new city. read more

Horrible "child care" place! The owner appears to have mental instability. I know an acquaintance of hers who quoted the owner as saying "I don't like children, but this business is a cash cow!" My own experience there was: great, loving teachers, but terrible administration and communication from above. My children were routinely moved to different classes with no notice. They scraped lead paint off the exterior and left it in the playground for the toddlers to play with. They are too cheap to use baby wipes, so they use rough paper towels on the babies. The owner, Alexandra, once even refused to allow me to give my crying child his precious security blanket. She said, "I don't care if he cries all night." That was the straw that broke the camel's back. We never went back. read more

I was worried after reading reviews that I would suffer the same fate and not be able to reach anyone but I actually got a return phone call and managed to schedule a tour. I was pleasantly surprised and figured those were old reviews, and the school had improved their administration. Well, after the tour, I paid my registration fee to hold my spot. After a couple of months, I tried to contact the school again few times for more info on the waitlist, etc but never got a return call! I tried emailing the Director as well but no response! We love Esperanza! My son has only been attending a short time but he loves it here. They play outside all the time and the teachers are great. He was enrolled in two other day cares in the area and Esperanza is by far the best of them. There are so few options for really good day cares in the area that don't have a wait list a mile long. The only downside is you have to bring your own lunches and snacks. I wish they would have a company come in and start offering catered lunches for those wishing to purchase--then it would be absolutely perfect. read more

My daughter joined Esperanza when she was about 11 months old and it was a wonderful experience. Her teachers Miss Laura and Miss Amy in the Lambs class were very sweet and my daughter adored them. The curriculum is varied and my child's language skills improved exponentially. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is very organized, structured, and friendly. In fact, my daughter is at a new daycare (we moved recently) and it's not nearly as organized as Esperanza. The teachers here really care. read more

Esperanza has a lot of great perks. The rooms are fairly large with plenty of toys and books for the kids to play. Some connecting rooms are still empty and I think the kids should be able to play in a bigger room while they remain empty. The children love to go outside every day and the playgrounds are perfect for outdoor play. I believe the schedule and nap times are good for the younger children; studies have shown that infants and young toddlers thrive better on a schedule because they know what to expect next. Flexibility is important though too. It is pricey and all food has to be provided, as well as paper towels, which ends up being an added monthly expense. I agree they should have an option for purchasing healthy lunch or snacks at a reasonable price. I had my son in another daycare when he was an infant & it was half the price of Esperanza and they provided a hot breakfast & lunch every day! Security at Esperanza is very good with gates surrounding the property & locked doors. My son's teachers have been very good and informative and they seem to love all their kiddos. They also do a good job of making sure the teacher-child ratio is never more than it should be. read more

If you are looking for nurturing teachers and a office staff that communicates with you keep looking! Our experience was awful. We were misled by previous reputation (prior to moving) and beautiful grounds. I'm not sure if the ownership has lost sight of the absolute necessity for qualified and nurturing teachers or if they simply grew too fast and can't keep up, but it simply is not working. The office staff does not communicate in any way. There is no response to phone calls or emails while enrolled or not. Once we left the school, I called and emailed to request a time to pick up my son's blanket and other items without disturbing the children. No response. When I finally went by, they had given his things away because "they don't like to hold on to things." No one ever responded or reached out to me about his things after repeated attempts on my part. My son, initially was so excited about this school with the wonderful play areas and beautiful grounds, but within days he was screaming before we even parked the car. I found the room to be unstructured and loud as it was shared with another class with only a partition separating the two. His teachers were indifferent and did not have a clue how to respond to him. It is obvious management's attention has been on their facility. Nothing else there is of value. The teachers don't smile! They do not even look the children in the eye when they speak to them. They tower above them and give short commands. Please and thank you were never uttered the entire time I was there. If your child wonders out of the play area on the play ground don't expect someone to go over, hold hands, explain where they need to play and bring them back. The teachers simply holler across the play ground without moving. This place is horrendous. Save yourself a tremendous amount of heartache and find a school that values teachers and children. read more

Dealing with this place was unpleasant. Just to get on the waitlist you have to sit through a pointless orientation. This is months before you're going to need a spot. For no reason other than to waste to your time. They also force to send in a $500 deposit that can go to the first months tuition fee. But when I wanted to go back on the waitlist and wait for our son to get a little older before enrolling, they told me that deposit is only applicable to the September enrollment. This is after a $100 deposit just to get on the waitlist. I was told this was stated on the contract we signed, but the contract is not nearly that specific (I double checked). I guess they're more interested in getting a few bucks from me rather than making us happy and comfortable in sending our CHILD there in a few months. Fundamentally, I no longer find these people trustworthy. When the time comes, we'll go elsewhere. read more

My two years old daughter assisted Esperanza school for four days. She started the part time program on October 2013. We enrolled her on the lunch program that Esperanza school offers. My daughter was not fed for four days. Because of an administration mistake her name was not on the list of kids that received the lunch provided by the school. The teacher thought that the snack I had left her every morning was also her lunch even though I had a conversation with the teacher about my daughter being in the lunch program on the first day. So what they did was to use the left overs of my daughter morning snack like her lunch. We find out what was going on the fourth day after I ask specifically about a particular food that was in the menu they gave me ( I paid extra money for the lunch program). When I talked to the director she told me that the teachers had thought that my daughter lunch was strange but they didn't informed to anybody about it. My daughter was also very very thirsty after school and her cup was always empty. I do not recommend this place to anybody. read more
