They remodeled the reference desk and moved it to a different spot. It looks so modern now! I think the rest of the project was behind the scenes because everything else looks the same. I'm a big fan of this library. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Looking for something to do? Their calendar is full of activities for all age groups. Cheers to 2026!

There is an excellent and renowned glass blowing department at Palomar College. It is part of the Arts Department at the school. There is a student and teacher sale usually held three times a year. At the sale, which is open to the public, you can find the most beautiful glass and ceramic vases, bowls and objects. Earlier this month there was a sale. I attended and was able to find several glass items that I treasure. I also bought a little blue and beveled ceramic dish that I have placed in my entryway to hold my house keys.

My first time here I purchased a few children's books and a 300 piece puzzle. This summer, my youngest son has fallen in love with large puzzles. I never pay full price for kid things. Why? They lose interest in them so quickly! I really didn't want to pay almost 20 dollars for a puzzle on Amazon....and then I remembered this bookstore. I called to make sure they still had a puzzle section and they sure do! They have such a lovely variety too! I'm sure you'll find something you like. My kiddo was thrilled when I let him pick two puzzles and I picked one. You can't beat the prices....and they offer an credit policy too! Three puzzles cost me less than one puzzle at a big box store or online. Stop in here and support local business. I'll be back!

Two stars for cleanliness and friendly staff…read more Three stars off for the most important aspect of a used bookstore... price. $5 per paperback? More for hardbacks? For a book whose spine is parting? Missing pages? C'mon. Don't even bother looking at most of what they call "Vintage" books. They ask a king's ransom for them. I found paperback after paperback that was priced at over $20 each... for a book barely 50 years old and a cover price of $1.50. Outlandish. I actually performed a reality check and went to Ebay to check on 7 or 8 of those titles. In each case the books sold for much less on Ebay than Helen is asking. They most definitely need to adjust their pricing schema. It's not like they're paying rent in downtown La Jolla for goodness sake. I was originally, upon walking in, going to say their large, diverse selection is a strength. Now I understand it's simply a function of them not selling their books at a good turnover rate at all... consequently, their stock piles up. Shame.

Tuition is INSANE for what you are getting. Students complain about the services, or lack of services, and honestly the money isn't going anywhere apparent. The departments that help students were drastically cut during my time working here, and in my department alone, more than 8 (out of about 12) people either were fired or layed off or quit due to stress in the course of a year. On our orientation and open house days, we were instructed to show off they schools assets, even though students would likely never use or have the opportunità to use the technology available. I truly hope this BUSINESS (not a school) CRASHES AND BURNS. B Corp my **** Yeah right. The people who run this place are cooperate junkies, FRAUD teachers who repost research under the guise of new titles (true true true), and a bunch of cheap sell outs. DO NOT GO HERE :---)

Old Escondido Mother's Day Home Tour - Three Generations at the Old Escondido Mother's Day Home Tour 2010

Old Escondido Mother's Day Home Tour

For Mother's Day every year, the family crowds into a couple of vehicles, we head to an overpriced…read morerestaurant for a "Mother's Day Special" (which is really the regular menu jazzed up with higher prices and maybe a pastel carnation or two for Mom and Grandma), we wait for frackin' ever even though we have a reservation, then are hurried through an overcrowded dining room with hungry kids going bananas and then we empty our pocketbooks and head home. Everyone leaves more exhausted, unnerved and impoverished than when we began. So this year we decided to do something completely different. My Mom heard from a co-worker about the Old Escondido Mother's Day Home Tour. Now I know what your thinking, "SERIOUSLY? A home tour? In ESCONDIDO?! Aren't there GANGS there?! DRUGS?! The MEXICAN MAFIA?!!!" And I'm here to tell you, not only was the Mother's Day Home Tour fun and charming but I didn't even see one drive-by. The 2010 13th Annual Mother's Day Home Tour covered 5 properties in Escondido on 6th and 7th avenue in the Historic District. Most of the homes were built in the 1915s and painstakingly restored to beautiful detail. Volunteer docents from the Historical Society provided intimate details about the architecture, the original inhabitants and interesting stories about each property. $15 a person (really just a donation for the Historical Society) covered the tour and provided a nicely detailed program and refreshments at the last home on the tour in a lovely English Garden setting. All the walking and a few long lines were a bit much for my 80 - something Grandma, but I managed to find street parking nearby and chauffeured her around to the different homes. There were also shuttles available from some classic cars owners who volunteered for the day which included a 1924 Model T Runabout which was a real treat. A lone pedicab entrepreneur also tried to solicit folks for a ride but blasting old skool Jay-Z really didn't entice the garden party set. So if you're looking for something a little different than the average Mother's Day hoopla, take your Mom up to Escondido for the tour and then treat her to some margaritas and Mexican food afterward in the afternoon. Your Mom won't be disappointed and neither will your pocketbook!
