The owners Duncan and Claire are so nice and accommodating too, and Duncan is so dialed w/the surf. Whatever your ability level he will get you to where you want to go. He has tons of quality surfboards and wetsuits for rent too. You cld actually just show up w/nothing (its expensive to travel w/surfboards and can be a pain in the ass) and rent everything at fair prices easily. Honestly this place has it all. Vasco is one of the nicest people you will meet, and is patient, careful, knowledgeable, multi-lingual, and accommodating. My husband and I hired Vasco to guide us for two days of biking along Portugal's coast -- from Nazare heading South one day and then heading North the next day. Both days were fantastic and we enjoyed ourselves immensely! We requested to make a few changes to the itinerary of the 2nd day, and Vasco was extremely flexible and helpful in making those changes. The bikes he uses are premier -- you're in for a great time! So my advice would just be to be very clear on your preferences -- paved road only, off-road trails okay, etc. He can show you all of it! And if you're lucky, he'll bring his camera and share the photos he takes.

While we didn't golf (we'll be coming back for that), the resort still offered a nice outdoor pool, and indoor spa. We stayed in a double room in the main building, though there are a number of apartments/villas on the property, as well. The staff / service were outstanding, from housekeeping and room service, to the Cobalt bar and restaurant. The breakfast buffet was one of the best we've experienced, the fresh pastries and bread being notable. Note the resort is on the coast, and might be considered a bit remote if you plan to taxi/Uber in (the drive is about 1 hour). The resort does offer a car service to the airport 130€??), but we rented a car at the Lisbon airport, so we could explore. Looking forward to a return visit! Cheers! RS

The waters cold, very cold. If you need a board there's a bunch offering rentals. Plus, I'm iffy about renting wetsuits but they do have some thicker ones that insulate the heat and keep you warm in the cold waters. You can park at the lot by SurfCastle and overall it's a surf beach with that Bohemic vibe that you were looking for. It's a peninsula so there's a beach on both sides of the thin sand way that separates the two waterways. I love everything about this beach and even though I almost got pneumonia from swimming in the water, it's just cause im fiery miamian who's used to 85 degrees Fahrenheit year round. For most Europeans who frequent the area, the water is actually warm.
