We selected Christmas-inspired games to enhance the festive atmosphere, which added an extra level of fun and engagement for our guests. The event hosts were professional, enthusiastic, and a pleasure to work with throughout the experience. The party package included unlimited drinks during gameplay, which was appreciated, and the option to add catering was a convenient feature--which I did end up adding. The only area for improvement that I would recommend is greater attention to detail regarding their add-ons. I had added a mini trophy and ribbon as part of our party package; however, these items were not provided until after the event had concluded and many guests had already departed. This was disappointing, as the add-on was intended to be part of the celebration itself. Overall, though, the event was a success, and we'll definitely be back for more:)

Colby was our host and Justice was our producer, and they completely made the experience. They were funny, engaging, and knew how to read the room and tailor the games to our group. We had so much fun that we decided to stay for a second game. We did both Classic and Prime Time and honestly can't decide which one we liked more. Both were so fun and really felt like you were on a game show. This was easily the most fun we've had together in a long time. What really stood out was how customized the whole experience felt. It wasn't just running through a script. Colby and Justice made it feel personal and special, which took it to another level. If you're looking for something fun and different to do in Salt Lake City, this is it. We can't wait to come back next time we're in town.

Mystery Escape Room

The most unexpected thing about playing escape rooms in the Salt Lake City area is how many…read morebusinesses are mindful of the need for couple date-night experiences, and how cleverly they are able to tailor bigger rooms to suit smaller ones. Mystery Escape Room, with locations in Salt Lake City as well as Tucson, did just that with their European Café mystery game, Café Amour, which we picked because it was a 40-minute escape room designed for 2 people, and it was rated mildly challenging. When we were booking our game, we saw on the web site that Mystery Escape Room does not offer refunds on cancelled bookings, but are more than happy to reschedule our visit, or place our tickets on will call to be used at any time and does not ever expire, which was good, because it was a bit of a drive for us to get to The Gateway shopping mall in downtown Salt Lake City. We need not have worried, however: getting to The Gateway was not a bad drive at all on a Saturday morning. The standard mall parking offered off street have their own app so it took us a while to get out of the car, but a short walk through the mall concourse, then up and down the escalator later and we found ourselves at the escape room - 30 full minutes before opening time at noon! Happily, the door was unlocked, and we were able to seat ourselves in the lobby and look through the 3-D image books and Elf-on-a-Shelf photo album while waiting. There were also puzzles on the bookcase, which was held a surprise in itself. Our fantastic game host, Kiki, was able to fit us a whole half hour early, which was more than great, because it was already 98°F out at 11:30am, and there was scant shade in the outdoor mall. The introductory video was self-produced and very amusing, and just gave Kiki the exact amount of time to get the room ready early and show us into the very dark second lobby. The game started even before we entered Lobby 2, and even that was only the preamble to our real experience, which finally started after we made our way through a themed doorway. Café Amour is a perfect date-night (or day) G1 (very low-tech, with conventional locks and lots of brain work) game, which took us to the streets of old Europe, from the glass-stained windows to the wood-and-brick décor. The rules of the game were laid out clearly ahead of time, and Kiki was terrific keeping us on track - very important for a short-term room. Since this game is a more intimate game within at least two other rooms, we really appreciated the clear labels on what was not part of the game. Our favourite puzzle was the one we had to solve using playing cards, and although the word association puzzle was interesting, it was also confusing because it didn't seem in-theme. This probably had to do with the fact that Café Amour was part of a larger experience, and our exit also did not seem to fully complete the one (café mystery) experience. It was / is, however, a clever way to entice us to continue our escape room experience with them again. This was our only gripe, and why this is a four-star review rather than a 5. The short-term rooms at The Escape Date and A Great Escape (both previously reviewed) were more dedicated and focused. That said, we really enjoyed our time at Café Amour and the big perk was the freebie take-home at the end. There was a clock in the room that was not used but our time of 33:45 was meticulously tracked by Kiki, who actually did a five-star job. We remain constantly surprised by how ingeniously all the different rooms in Utah are conceptualized and built, and we are really appreciative of how all our game hosts so far have taken the trouble to appear in costume and character. Our games have not been just "our" games, and it's so refreshing to see gamemasters enjoying our game along with us. We can't wait to try out the other rooms offered by Mystery Room - and soon! This review has been posted on both Google and Yelp.

The only great thing about the place was the lobby and the customer service from the game master. The lobby is well maintained and it made me excited for the room. However, the room had multiple issues. The largest issue was that the AC did not work at all. This ruined the experience because we had to have the main entry door open the entire time so that way some fresh air would come in. Even with this solution, one of us were completely disengaged due to the heat, and everyone else was highly uncomfortable. Not having AC in the summer when it is 106 degrees outside is just no acceptable. Beyond the AC issues, the escape room itself was middle of the road at best. There was no flow and the puzzles were incoherent. One of the locks was left unlocked so we did not solve one of the puzzles. The room was overall cheaply made. For example, they use wall paper on a standard door to make it look like a submarine door, whereas other escape room company's would design a door that looks and feels like a submarine door. There were also 2 other cheap locks on one cabinet that one person easily guessed the combination to. Overall, I would not bring my team back to this escape room company.

This time we come before 8 they told us that we can't book bc there system is down. And we have to book a hour before. Regardless on there website it would Let me book right there and then so why we couldn't book in store makes no sense. Mind you there has never been someone in the front the two times we have came we always have to wait a while for someone to come out the back. I wonder how this buisness is still going as it seems like they don't want to get buisness

10/10 would highly recommend!!!…read more Today my boyfriend and I took our kids (ages 16, 14, 13, & 8) to the escape room. It was for our 16-year-old's birthday, so he got to pick which room. He chose The Quest and I felt like it was great for our family's first time. When we walked in, there was someone at the front to get us checked in. Since we signed the waivers online, we didn't have to worry about them at check in. We sat in the front lobby and waited for the room to be prepped. They had two tv monitors in the lobby that showed the different rooms and the leaderboards. Once they were ready for us, they had us put our belongings in a locker and then walked us to the hallway to watch a short video explaining the escape room and the rules. Afterwards, they took us to the room so we could begin. I won't give anything away, but all 6 of us had such a good time! We worked together and figured out the clues. We made it out of the escape room with just 6 minutes to spare, but we were so proud of ourselves. It was our first one and I felt like we did awesome. Once it was over, the door opened and there was someone there to direct us back to the lobby. They offered to give us $7 off each ticket if we purchased some in advance (they are good for a year). We didn't hesitate and bought 6 more tickets. After we got home, they emailed me with our stats. It was fun to see how long it took us and what badges we earned. I think we will definitely do more escape rooms in the future. Every single person in our group had so much fun! If you're thinking about doing an escape room, DO IT!
