Lone Star Lights - Nooks with books & games in main lobby of lodge

The overnight stay included our 4 entry tickets to the park, shuttle to and from the lights, & complimentary breakfast on day of checkout. Lonestar Lights put on by Carolina Creek is a holiday gem that is sure to have something for everyone. Petting zoo, snow hill for sledding, gingerbread bouncy house, magic shows & live music, storytelling and caroling groups, light mazes and displays, to Santa visit with free digital photos quickly sent via text. Additional Arctic addons to your tickets include zip line, wall climbing, and a large swing each offering great views of the lights. We partake in zip line every year at $10 each (or even cheaper if you get in on their promos of 20-50% off online throughout the season). Throughout the park there are craft options from ornaments to cookie decorating ranging from $3+. We did the leather stamping and snowman tree stump ornaments. There are several truck eateries around the park with many opportunities to enjoy that traditional holiday hot cocoa. Also shopping can be found inside the main lodge behind the beautifully decorated tree in the center of the facility. This year differences there was a small train (not sure if it was included in ticket price) and an end of the night fireworks/music show at 9PM. Overall my family enjoyed our second visit and the themed room that was decorated in all things Nutcracker. I definitely plan to make this a continued family tradition!

Why 5 stars? Because this is a great place to take the kiddos around the holidays…read more --- --- --- I didn't really know what to expect with Lone Star Lights. My wife told me about it and I saw several people online say it was pretty great. I knew very little about it, other than those rave reviews that were coming in. Well, it turns out it's basically a Christmas Fair for kids. There are a million stands for food and various treats: cookies, smores, candy, etc - with plenty of savory stuff too. Aside from the food, there's: train rides, a petting zoo, a huge zipline, rock climbing, a massive electrically powered swing, horse rides, cookie decorating, music, and about an 8-10 minute firework show at the end! The only downside is that this appeals to young kids and you have to keep them up way past their bed time, especially if you want to stay for the 9pm fireworks. Oh, and it had rained earlier that day, so our shoes were basically mud pits from our walk through the parking lot back to the car. We got a golf cart ride from the car to the park once we arrived, but didn't want to wait in line for that when we left. I went to Sam Houston State about 20 years ago, and never would have guessed that I'd be taking my kid back to Huntsville in 2024 for such an experience. Also, I never realized how large the city of Huntsville technically is because this is at least 20+ minutes from campus.

Since Terror Nights has been the scariest haunt in East Texas since 2008 we were excited to purchase her. One partner said to another partner, "Wanna buy a haunt? It will be fun!" Then they named her World of Khaos Thrill Park because the 33,000 square feet of random haunt matter throughout their 5 warehouses was incredibly 'Khaotic'. Imagine their surprise when they also learned the business came with about 8 spirits. So far so good. They seem to like us, well one doesn't like Charles too much, but that's another story they'll share with you when you're there! World of Khaos Thrill Park is expected to be bigger and better than anything we've seen before. This year they're planning an attraction called Blackwater Bayou - a Voodoo haunt with a couple of quarreling Voodoo Queens. It is guaranteed to make you scream and jump. A lot. They'll also have a rather unique chainsaw crew that have really cool plans for Friday the 13th and Halloween night. Trust us, you won't want to miss these nights. Also demented KarnEvil. We thought with all the clown shows and movies going on, why not show just how psychotic we can get.
