You won't find me in urban environments frequently and I spent time growing up in the country fishing & hunting. *IF you're a "City Person", this probably isn't the spot for you. There are three larger campgrounds that run adjacent to the river: one North of the bridge and two to the south of the bridge. If you're a tent camper, there's plenty of treeline to stay mostly shaded. If you've got a camper, there are several electrical/water hookups (you need to call in advance to book). And if you're more of a cabin person, they've got 3 sleeper cabins with heat & A/C that sleep several and a big cabin that has it's own kitchen & bathroom to go along with the Heat & A/C (once again, I highly advise booking well in advance). They offer a few different options for river fun. The canoes, kayaks, tubes, and rafts all offer different experiences. The upper stretch of the river starts with a bus ride up to the put in and takes 5-7 hours to float back to camp depending on how motivated you are. Make sure to check out the springs. The lower stretch starts at camp, takes 4-5 hours, and ends at Dawt Mill where they pick you up and bring you back to camp. Either way, make sure to bring a bunch of water, sunscreen, and a camping attitude. Just remember that the Pettit's clan is amazing and will work with you as best they can, but this is camping, not the spa at Hilton.

But what sets it apart? The game changer? COFFEE. ICE. CUBES. No more watered-down iced coffee. Run - don't walk - to your next favorite cup and throw around some hatchets while you're there. Because nothing screams safety like some jittery, caffed-up, handsome, pampered guy throwing an axe.
