Being exhausted from the drive we found this motel on our way and it was nothing short of amazing! The room had a microwave and fridge as well as a grill outside for those that prefer to skip fast food and want home cooked meals! The best part was the location! Sitting here writing this review l, I'm sitting outside looking at Lake Michigan which is about 200ft away! Having beach access sold me and I can't wait to come back! The owners are so sweet and will bend over backwards for all your wants and needs!

The price was reasonable, considering the supply vs demand. The hotel is dated but otherwise modern enough, clean enough, staff polite enough. Other guests quiet enough, parking plenty. Being a regular at airports, I am used to being at airports 1-2 hours prior to departure. But that is not necessary in Escanaba. I didn't realize that the rental car return desk would be unmanned, and that the security checkpoint doesn't open until 40 minutes before departure. Had I realized that I would be sitting around for an hour before I could go through security, I would have use used that hour to find a last pretty lakeside spot to enjoy on my UP adventure. But rental car keys were turned into the lockbox, and nothing was in walking distance of the airport, so I waited. Props to the airport for good wifi and clean bathrooms. There are no restaurants or snack bars, just vending machines. Delta staff was friendly (they're the only airline at the airport). It seemed like all the people chatting at the gate were locals, and seemed happy to run into each other on their way to wherever the connection to Detroit took them. My only gripe was with the TSA agents. There is no TSA Precheck, and they were gruff sticklers on the new "guideline" to remove all snacks from your bag. Even after pulling out all my goodies, they still flagged a bar in the depths of my suitcase. But boarding the CRJ took about 5 minutes, and we took off before scheduled departure time...no runway traffic at this airport!

Plenty of parking, great amenities - we didn't have time to take advantage of the free bikes and kayaks but what a great option to have! Our room was recently renovated. It was perfect for us since we parked right outside the door. It was tastefully decorated with scenes of Michigan's natural beauty. Outside, there was also a pathway along the lake to go for a stroll and enjoy the outdoors. I would definitely return to this hotel on my next visit to Escanaba!
