I had a wonderful experience at this charming office. The staff was amazing, and Dr.Tran- endodontist was incredibly skilled, compassionate, and patient. They fit me into their schedule immediately for a same-day appointment. The office is spotless, the team is welcoming, and the procedure was totally painless. read more

Dr. Christine Tran is wonderful! She is very knowledgeable and thorough. Great service from her and the staff!

This review is super long overdue. First let me say I hate the dentist let alone a damn Route Canal. I did one with Dr Eric and Chris 5 or 6 years back and the experience from what I remember great. Fast forward to present time and I just had anothe route canal by Dr Chris and it was super easy. Main point no pain at all. She made the experience super easy. Unfortunately I have to do a lower tooth as well in a month but after this experience Im not worried at all. read more

Great doctor. Very gentle and careful. The whole team there is very polite and kind. I highly recommend that doctor.

I had a great experience at this dental office! There was no wait time, and everything was very efficient and well organized. The staff were patient, friendly, and took the time to answer my questions. The office is also very clean and comfortable. Overall, I'm very happy with the care I received and would definitely recommend this dental office! read more

What a relief to find such excellent, caring, ethical, and thorough endodontists! I was referred to Eric Wong many, many years ago, and most recently saw Dr. Tran to diagnose an odd sensation that turned out to be a dead nerve needing urgent treatment. Do not wait until your tooth hurts to see Dr. Tran! Nobody is gentler at painlessly numbing your tooth, or more thorough at finding the cause of any problem. And, if you have any questions at all about insurance or billing, their brilliant and caring expert at the front desk will quickly and accurately calculate every option. Do not dilly-dally when it comes to your dental health! read more

Eric is wonderful. Despite moving away from SF I came back to have him look at my tooth because of the experience I had the first time . If you need a root canal, make an appointment with Eric. read more

Dr. Christine Tran is thorough, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. Her report was well written and her recommendation and explanation of what to expect helped make me feel very well taken care of. Her office staff is incredibly helpful and kind. Pricing is transparent. I was given a quote of $44 before my endodontist appointment, the copay was $43.50 after insurance. Thank you front desk lady. I really appreciate all your patience with helping me send my report and referrals to my oral surgeon. An honest dental office and business, highly recommend. An exceptional dental experience. read more

Dr. Christine Tran, is fantastic. I don't have dental insurance and went to see a random dentist because of excruciating pain in my upper jaw. He wanted to immediately perform major surgery that would involve opening a half dollar size hole in my palette. Long story short, a dentist visiting his office took a look at me, called Dr. Tran and got me in to see her that day. Dr. Tran discovered that 2 root canals performed by another Dentist had gone terribly wrong, leaving a plum sized infected cyst in the bone of my face . She Re- did the 2 root canals, plus a 3rd and used a procedure called decompression to remove the infection. I've been working with her for over a year now and the cyst is almost completely gone and the bone is almost completely grown back. And NO major facial surgery. She gave me a more than fair price and even joined care credit so I could pay it interest free over 36 months. If I ever need endontic work again, I'd fly half way around the world to have Dr Tran do it. Every time I've seen her over the past year, it's been completely painless from my body to my pocketbook! She even referred me to a great general dentist, who will be my next review! read more

He doesn't seem too patient to me. In fact, he was a bit annoyed. I was referred to him by my general dentist since she didn't know what was wrong. Went there.. and he told me everything is fine, go home. After my check up, my dentist told me there's a black mark on the xray and I might need a retreatment. ok.. so i decided to make an appointment.. go to him and see what's wrong. First off, his staff arent that friendly.. i am assuming it's because it's 9 AM. He was also a bit cranky himself. he told me there's nothing wrong with my tooth and he doesn't know what the black mark on the xray is.... "it can be anything". OK THAT HELPS!! He told me to come back when it hurts. He is obviously not that fond of questions. I know I was a bit paranoid since I suffered from one root canal retreatment and gum surgery. I am there not because I want to throw money in the ocean, but because my dentist referred me to him. Never going to him again. read more

Outstanding Dentist! Best I have been to see. I had been going to another dentist for root canals. They worked on me like they had a sledge hammer and it was painful. It also took a very long time. With Dr. Eric Wong, he did several root canals on me and I was shocked because it took about a half an hour for the procedure each time and there was no pain. I had not even realized he started it. I have since sent others there who also have raved about him. (Who raves about a Dentist? So you know he is good.) He also teaches at UOP in San Francisco and I believe that he has all the latest equipment. He can also fix teeth that other Dentists have messed up, as he did for my husband. read more

Dr. Eric Wong has a small office, but it's full of happy drugs to get you through your root canal. Since he specializes in doing only Endodontics (don't worry, I had to look it up, too), he rocks my dental world. I like to think of my teeth as shiny and healthy, but due to a childhood diet consisting mostly of Hershey's kisses and apple juice, my perception is a little off. An old filling needed to be replaced. My dentist did a fine job, but it was too deep and the nerve got all angry. I've never had an angry tooth nerve before and it made me want to drink Drano. Dr. Eric Wong let me listen to my "This American Life" podcast on my iPod while he worked, which distracted me from the impossibly long corn-poker looking things he was sticking in my tooth. You know... those things shaped like little plastic corn cobs with the pointy ends that you use to hold corn-on-the-cob? So... maybe I'm giving four stars to "This American Life", but both Dr. Wong and his office staff were very helpful and patient with my squeamish self. read more

Dr Eric Wong seemed annoyed with me throughout my visit. At first I thought the issue was me and then I noticed how abusive Dr. Wong was towards his own staff. He was verbally abusive to his assistant who appeared quite inexperienced, untrained and incapabable and Dr, Wong expressed his impatience during my dental procedure. Dr. Wong dropped medical implements on the floor, picked them up and went right back to my open mouth!!! He was borderline rude with me and I did manage to stay polite as this is the dentist (endontist) who was referred to me by my regular dentist, a USCF faculty member. If I was not in the dental chair and halfway through the procedure, I would have left the office. What a horrible experience. An absolute nightmare. I am so disappointed. read more

Two of the very worst thing that can happen to a person; when you're feeling really POOR and you get a tooth ache that makes you want to jump off the bridge. Due to some very bad dental advices from my last dentist, I had silver filling replace with porcelain filling, In the process it crock my molar unbeknownst to me...till the pain started. Instead of going with my "old" dentist recommendation, I decided to go to my trusty yelp and find my own doctor. Called about 10 office (some of them are real jerks btw) and was able to get an appointment with Dr. Christine Tran, the next day. The front of the office was extremely kind, they didn't treat me like some kind of dirtbag without insurance and they offer a cash discount! Dr. Christine Tran was really caring, gentle, and most of all honest. In fact, while waiting for the Novocain to kick in, she help me smooth out another molars that was cutting into my tongue. No thanks to the last Quack that worked on my tooth. All in all, she was not able to save my tooth but she gave me some extremely great advice and didn't charge me for the root canal that I didn't need! I got a refund from my original quoted price and was only charged for an emergency visit!!! Who does that?!? The moral of my story is when your tooth hurt like hell, you have NO insurance. Give Dr Tran a call, she won't ripped you off and you be taking care of. read more

Came in to see Dr. Wong a while ago for a root canal after a bit of an accident that I had. Walked in worrying about what I would need to do and talked to Dr. Wong about my situation. He was very professional with me, telling me what needed to be done, but was still able to reassure me that the procedure sounded much worse than it actually was. After thoroughly making sure a root canal was for sure what i needed, Dr. Wong started the procedure and I got to watch a movie with some nifty glasses and earbuds. Before I knew it (and before my movie was near done) I was told that it was finished and that I could go! Would go (if I really had to, knock on wood) back for any other mouth related problems! read more

Great endodontist. Went in to redo my root canal. He found that I actually don't need it. Thorough work!

I'm going through all the places I've been in the last year. Or maybe the last month. Lol. Got my teeth clean. If you are looking for a handsome and awesome dentist come here. He's the best. The dentist was fine. The problem was the front desk personnel. I was referred by my general dentist because I needed a root canal treatment. I made the phone call for an appointment. I asked specifically whether they were in network with my insurance company. The girl answering the phone asked for the company name, my policy number, subscriber number and even the customer service phone number. They then told me I need to pay upfront and they will submit the bill to the insurance company. Not a work of the fact that they were out of the network. I only found this out through the insurance company today, after I've paid the entire bill upfront. They withheld the important information when asked about and that to me is a lack of integrity and honesty. read more

I had a consult with Dr. Wong regarding a difficult tooth problem. He spent a lot (1 hour) of time with me discussing treatment options. I appreciated that he didn't just run me through the root canal drill (pun intended). read more

My visit to Dr.. Wong's clinic changed my perception of root canal. he was very nice and very calm. His clinic was very clean. I was done in 45 minutes. I would definitely give him five stars. I did not have any pain during the procedure or after the procedure. Very good job done. HE IS AN EXPERT ON ROOT CANAL. Thank you Dr. Wong. read more

dr. wong is excellent....his office staff is polite and professional, the appointment was easy to make, and best of all, he took care of my difficult problem with good and steady hands. there was no pain during the procedure and very little afterwards. considering that the xrays looked like it would be a difficult problem, he did a fantastic job in what i consider to be relatively short appointment. i will be sure to refer friends and family, even those who might fear oral surgery. hb read more

Dr. Eric Wong is an outstanding endodontist. He explains the procedure patiently in understandable terms, gives excellent injections ensuring complete comfort, and makes the experience as comfortable as possible with a DVD player and head phones. If you have to have a root canal, I strongly recommend Dr. Wong. read more

I had a two visit root canal re-treatment with Dr. Wong in Spring 2006. He was very thorough in re-cleaning my roots, but I did experience some severe pain after the initial re-treatment (other wise I would have scored him higher). He's experienced, knowledgeable, and took the time to discuss my procedural concerns (in fact, he teaches root canal treatments at UCSF). Dr. Wong's staff went above and beyond the call of duty and I cannot say enough about the front desk receptionist (unfortunately, I don't remember her name). While I was in treatment she went out, walked the four blocks to my car and fed the parking meter for me! She prearranged this for me since the procedure was likely to take longer then the hour I was allowed on the meter. After some frustrating experience at another dental office in town, this gesture really impressed me. In short, Dr. Wong and his staff did a good job, but I would recommend some careful preliminary planning with the doctor regarding potential pain management (potentially with medication, which I did not have). read more

Dr. Eric Wong was fantastic. My general dentist called Dr Wong to arrange an on-the-spot appointment to address the quick onset of excruciating bouts of pain lasting about 12 minutes about every hour. On his day off, Dr. Wong came in to meet me as I came directly from my general dentist (also highly recommended - Chong Family Dentistry). The tooth causing the issue wasn't immediately obvious to my general dentist because none in the area were sore to biting/tapping pressure, hot/cold, nor did any of the teeth show decay. A radiograph of the roots didn't point out which was the culprit either, though there was some "space" (inflammation?) in the area where I had a crown. This 2-year old crown from a different dentist apparently wasn't seated flush with the adjacent tooth and allowed for entry of food stuffs. Dr. Eric Wong by process of elimination demonstrated expected sensitivity to a different type of cold stimulus for each tooth in the region, but exaggerated, albeit delayed sensitivity to cold on the crowned tooth. A root canal was preformed through the porcelain crown. I imagine it took longer than normal to remove my roots because they're so long and make a 90 degree curl at the bottom. Sure enough, the root under the crown was dead at the top and alive, crying out with pain at the bottom. I felt absolutely no pain from the root canal procedure AT ALL, save the short-lasting discomfort of the syringe to deliver anesthetic. I had a wisdom tooth removed in my 30s, and other teeth removed in my youth because of overcrowding. The wisdom tooth removal was painful but this procedure gave absolutely no pain what-so-ever, nor was I sore afterward. I couldn't be more grateful for competent and caring professionals both in endodontist, Dr Eric Wong, and referring dentists, Drs Robert & Alan Chong, for relief of the unbearable pain. read more

My mom went to see Dr. Wong when her dentist told her that she needed a root canal retreatment. I called the office to make the appointment. The staff who answered the phone was very nice and helpful, and I was able to get an appointment relatively quick. The appointment went great. My mom said she didn't have any pain during/after treatment. Also, Dr. Wong worked fast, 45 minutes and she was done. I will go see Dr. Wong if I ever need a root canal (although I'd prefer not to have one ever). read more

I've had 1.5 root canals here (in the process of doing my 2nd), both with Dr. Tran, and she is a great healthcare provider. Professional, explains what's going on, and has a style that is totally geared towards patient comfort. Definitely would recommend. read more

DR. WONG IS AN EXCELLENT SPECIALIST IN ROOT CANAL! My General Dentist referred me to Dr. Wong for a root canal to be done on tooth #30 because of an abscess on the gum next to it. When I called to make an appointment, Dr. Wong asked my dentist to send him the X-ray of the tooth. After looking at it, he asked that my dentist took another X-ray to trace where the pus was coming from. Just as Dr. Wong suspected, the abscess came from another tooth located next to it, which was #29. When I came into Dr. Wong's office, I was very impressed at how clean and neat the office was, just as a patient would expect or hope for. All the instruments were ready and the necessary parts of the machines were properly wrapped in clean and clear plastic. Dr. Wong took my blood pressure and told me I had some anxiety coming in. He did more tests on my tooth to make sure that his previous diagnosis was correct. Then he carefully explained to me all the procedures that he was going to take. Because my tooth was crooked and not aligned with the other teeth, it would make it more difficult to drill since the instruments are normally not made to bend for crooked teeth! Then he gave me a pair of goggles to put on to protect my eyes from harmful sprays. After giving me local anesthesia, Dr. Wong worked diligently on my tooth, taking more X-rays after every step to make sure that everything was done properly. Throughout the procedure, I did not experience any pain and felt assured that I was well taken care of thanks to Dr. Wong's expertise, cautiousness, thoroughness, confidence and calm demeanor! After filling the tooth, Dr. Wong made a final X-ray and show it to me on the big computer screen, carefully explaining what he had done to the tooth to help make it better! When all the numbness was gone from my mouth, I did not feel any pain as one would expect after such a procedure! I'm glad that Dr. Wong took care of my dental problems with such professionalism, expertise, care and thoroughness! He's knowledgeable and excellent at his job while being patient and honest with his patients! I would come back to Dr. Wong for any future dental problems! read more

Medical events freak me out. I cry, squirm, hyperventilate, fight the doctors off. I act like a 3 year old. I was incredibly scared going in for my root canal but Dr. Wong is so patient and calming. His assistant (Karina?) held my hand as I got shots of Novocaine, kept telling me how well I was doing, and was overall a very calming presence. Dr. Wong would wait to do anything until I was ready, never seemed annoyed with my antics, and tried to make small talk as I was trying to nitrous myself into mental numbness. And in the end, the thing that hurt the most was the numbing shot. Didn't feel a thing during the procedure. Better yet, two days on, no pain in my mouth at all. I would recommend him any day. Only wish they could set up a payment plan for those of us without insurance (which accounts for the negative 1 star). But the nice receptionist gave me a slight discount :) read more
