I move very often, mostly to larger cities, and currently reside outside of Philadelphia. A few months ago I went to a new dentist for the first time near my home in Pennsylvania and was given the news that I had 16 cavities, needed a root canal performed and needed a tooth extracted, a bill which totaled over $10,000.00 after insurance payments!! I was shocked at this news, and most definitely did not believe it, since of course, I've only had two cavities in my entire life when seeing Dr. York, but yet, it had been a few years since I had seen a dentist, but still this seemed excessive and I wasn't sure what to believe and didn't know if this was just a gimmick for the dentist to receive more dollars in his pocket. I made an appointment to see Dr. York on a visit to see family in Ohio to get his opinion, and long story short, I did have cavities, but only five, and no root canal, no extractions. So only around $158.00 after insurance payment out of my pocket!! Dr. York is an amazing doctor. He has a well established business. He doesn't have to "fake" cavity fillings to make more money because he does well and is honest and that is why I go to him even though I live far away!! I'll arrange my appointments to correspond with family visits from here on out!

The dentist who I have been seeing for awhile has never been rude to me and talked to me about what the issue could be with my jaw. It only took about 10 minutes for him to do and waiting is not his fault. Then I talked to the receptionist, Jerry I believe her name is, about how I was scheduled a cleaning to day and she said no I was not scheduled for a cleaning (even though I have been due for a cleaning); I corrected her saying I was or I wouldn't be here for nothing and when asked to schedule one for January (which I hadn't been seen all year this year) I told her no and to have a good day. They worked with him for pricing because he doesn't have insurance and they were able to explain things in such a way that a non-English speaker understood.
