It really meant a lot to me, and I'm so glad I went to the appointment. My cholesterol results were horrible and I don't remember him ever suggesting I start cholesterol therapy, which I am now on. Dr. Christoff is thorough in his analysis, committed to preventative care, and dedicated to his patients. For example, I was misdiagnosed at NW Urgent care. After weeks of the wrong dosage/medication, I reached out to that doctor. The response came a week later asking me to follow-up with my primary care physician. So, I contacted Dr. Christoff. He acknowledged the urgent care physician did not copy him on the visit (copying the PCP is protocol at NW), all the tests had not been performed, and if the diagnosis was accurate ... the dosage I was prescribed would not resolve the issue. He asked me to come in immediately, tests were performed (and completed), and a proper diagnosis emerged and proper medication was prescribed. Dr. Christoff has been my primary care physician for 20 yrs and I will follow him to any new affiliation he has. I hope he is well and miss the quality care he provides. I use Dr Christoff as my primary care physician. He is very good, thorough, and explains everything explicitly. I get lab work done in the office which is nice since I don't have to go to another lab. One of the best features is the online portal where I can request appointments, communicate with the dr, see lab results and request prescription refills. Hands down, the best doctor ever!!!!!!!!!! I use to go to Illinois Masonic and the doctors weren't so helpful, and the staff.....oh their no good either. I decided to go see Dr. Christoff at NMPG for chest pains and from the first day until the last day, he took such good care of me. He sat down with me and listened to everything I felt was wrong regarding my chest pains and he kept trying different solutions to help heal my pain. I have been a patient for a little over 10 years. And used to always experience great service and recommended this doctor to everyone I know. However in the last year the wait times at my appointment seem to get longer and/or I was stuck in the exam room waiting for the doctor to finish up with another patient. Personally I think he is getting too busy we're booking too many patients in one day. A couple weeks ago, I was running late for my appointment due to an accident on Lake Shore Drive. And I called his office and alerted them of that. I arrived five minutes late for my scheduled appointment. I have the stamped parking ticket to prove it. Yet I had to wait 45 minutes in the waiting room and finally had to leave because I had to go to work. There's no excuse for that and the doctor blamed me for this. Yet many times in the last year he kept me waiting more than 20 minutes. So I have decided it's time to switch doctors :-( Update - as you all know, Dr Christoff is now gone. MIA. No one is saying ANYTHING! It's very "mysterious". I have heard rumors about why - but I am not going to spread gossip. I believe it was a parting of the ways. It's all very hush hush. I am sure there was a settlement and a gag order. Thats why we all know nothing. It's too bad. He was a good DR. UPDATE - Just found out Dr Christoff will be joining Howard Brown (not sure which location) in January. There just aren't enough words to describe what a great doctor Eric Christoff is. I stumbled across him by accident a few years ago and am constantly grateful I did. Never in my life have a I had a doctor that has taken such good care of me. Over the years I've had a number of chronic, ugly medical issues crop up. During that time Eric has been constantly and consistently there for me. He takes the time to listen to me, makes me feel he genuinely cares about me as a person and does everything in his power to find answers for me. The man even answers personal emails from me whether they're sent at 8am or midnight. I actually wonder when he sleeps. Most if not all other doctors would have given up on me by now or written me off as high-maintenance. I never feel that way with him. Over time, I've come to feel that he is more than my doctor...he's something of a friend to me as well and I cannot say enough good things about him and his practice. If you need a good doctor who will bend over backwards to help you out, you'd be lucky to work with him. As far as I'm concerned I'll be his patient as long as he and I are both around. read more

When my insurance, United Healthcare, required that I have a GP, on a friend's recommendation I met with Dr. Christoff. Completely thorough, upbeat and made me appreciate needing a GP along with my diabetes specialist. I met with him several times and couldn't have been more appreciative. I received a letter advising me that Dr. Christoff was, "no longer available" and that I would have to be reassigned to another physician. I don't want to be reassigned to another physician. Calling Northwestern provides no satisfaction. They curtly reply that they "have no contact" with Dr. Christoff and you know from the tone that there is a big story there that remains untold. I would like to know if he was taken by extra terrestrials, ill or just tired of dealing with Northwestern. I will do everything I can to maintain my relationship with this fine physician and besides my concern over having a current GP, I just want to know that he is well. read more

I've been a patient of Dr Christoff for about 15 years. While I believe he is a superb physician there are a few other qualities that I have rarely encountered with previous medical relationships. First, in 15 years and probably 2-3 dozen visits, I do not recall ever sitting in the waiting room for more than 5 min. I do not know how he does it! The same goes for my time in the exam room. Superb physician in every way. I have seen him for many years so we understand each other. I am a frequent flyer and he never hesitates to suggest further testing if he thinks it's necessary. He has made a couple of really great catches. His staff is polite, efficient. I like the My Chart option to keep in touch with the doc without playing phone tag. As an aside, I know through others that he has been a tremendous advocate for HIV/AIDS issues from way back. And he is a dog person, always a good sign. read more

I have had a lot of health issues and I now feel like I'm in a great place after having had not been for a while. I have been with Dr. Eric Chistoff for over a decade. After seeing many Dr's I found his Dr. to be sincere and caring. He by far is an outstanding doctor. If Dr Christoff reads this please contact me at 847-224-2480 so I know he's ok. I say his because I really care. NorthWestern is not telling me anything as if he is non existent. This is no way to treat a person or patient. The covering person is not covering at all. Leaving me in a dangerous situation as my medicines that I have taken for years after trying many others that Dr.Chistoff directed me to and got me out of a full time wheel chair to now being bed ridden. I had to go to urgent care after being refused by"covering" Doctor. Stating to me to go to ER when all I needed is a antibiotic. Certainly this is no way to treat a patient. Dr Eric Christoff is alive and well! With a quick call to HBHC, I did confirm this morning that Dr Christoff will begin seeing patients on Jan 3, 2017. However, as of this AM no schedule has been posted to make an appointment. The new location is at 6500 N Clark. Though this is almost an hour direct bus ride from my home, the time spent for peace of mind, an excellent physician, one with whom I trust and knows me is well worth this time. Unfortunately I've had the opposite experience from most people on here. Dr. Kristoff was referred to me by a friend. At first Dr. was reluctant to see me because his practice was full, but he changed his mind and kindly fit me in. Ever since the first time I visited with him, I felt like he was annoyed to see me. I had injured my knee playing basketball and he said it was probably just a knee sprain. The pain persisted for a while, and finally got me to get an MRI. MRI results were inconclusive. Fast forward 2 years and while playing basketball I felt a pop in that same knee. Went to see him, and he told me just a sprain, come back in a few days if it still hurts. Came back as I wasn't getting better, and he sent me for an MRI. Turns out it was a torn ACL. The knee surgeon reviewing my history told me that I had probably partially torn the ACL the first time, and without proper treatment it was only a matter of time before I would completely tear it. OK... so Kristoff doesn't have x-ray vision and couldn't know, but you'd think he be a bit more prescriptive. The other series of issues with him stem from me not coming in to see him enough. He and his staff try to get me in, at least once a year, and each time, they try to push something on me like getting a flu shot, or getting blood work (for no apparent reason mind you). This time I had enough and told the staff i did not have time to come in for a check-up, just wanted a refill on my Rx. After a couple calls from the staff and me explaining the same thing, Kristoff calls me and starts lecturing me about his policy, and that if I'm not happy, I can go elsewhere, to which I said I would. Dr. Christoff is my primary care physician. My initial experience was favorable a few years ago. However, it started to become extremely difficult to get an appointment time to see him. He's now working out of varying locations on different days. Regular check ups need to be scheduled weeks (sometimes months) in advance and I've had to go to other doctors on the couple occasions where something more immediate came up. For patients with a busy schedule that don't go to the doctor often, his practice is less convenient. read more
