We were tired and didn't want to walk far and so we ended up here. The service was leisurely but we expected that after reading other reviews. The food was good, maybe a little overpriced -- an appetizer, two entrees, a glass of wine and a beer came to $98US. The fish pot was very tasty and the presentation is very fun. It's like dinner and a show, so maybe not overpriced? They did give us free tea and baklava at the end, a nice touch. read more

We were called into the restaurant by one of the staff for dinner one night. Our meal of a meze, kebab and salad were tremendous as well as the cocktails. The wait staff dote on your to make sure everything is the way you like it. One of our party eats gluten free, and they were able to accommodate that nicely. Although the food prices are clearly stated on the menu, the server gave me a handwritten receipt, (looks like they don't print actual receipts), with the prices for the items I ordered, and a random inflated total at the end. When I asked him how he arrived to that amount, he said "just give me" the total I actually ordered... Although I recommend the food, I warn people to scrutinize their bill, just in case. read more

I stumbled upon this place looking for something for dinner. The food was good and the service was great. They were very attentive.

We decided to eat here based on the reviews. We walked over from the center but realized next day that it was right by our hotel. The entrance is on the side street and you have to go up the stairs. It's a small restaurant with a home feel to it and the food too felt home-cooked. We liked everything we got, especially the mixed appetizer, which had a little of everything. The eggplant was really good too. The flavor of the chicken stew was very good but some of the meat was a little chewy. I'm guessing the lamb is really good but I'm not a huge fan of lamp. The price was very reasonable and they gave us some Turkish tea and baclava at the end too. Highly recommend this place, which is within walking distance of the main sites. read more

Tonight we decided to try this place as we were looking for a reasonably priced dinner in Istanbul. We were not disappointed! The food was delicious and authentic. We were given bread with 2 dipping sauces which were very tasty. We ordered the hummus, fried shrimp with butter and the moussaka. Everything was outstanding! To add to the wonderful experience, the staff were friendly and very service oriented. If you're ever in Istanbul, make sure to try them out. read more

Good food and service. We ordered the mixed meat clay pot and ikender kabab (not your traditional kabab). The flavor is excellent. The price is reasonable and great location. On our third day in Istanbul, we hadn't had luck eating great food, walking around we found ourselves in front of this restaurant, Ethan restaurant. They are on TripAdvisor. The restaurant was clean and they made us very welcome. Each one of us chose a different dish. They accommodated our orders, like one didn't want meat on their Moussaka and the other wanted a dish for one when the menu stated it was for two. To our surprise, the food was amazingly delicious and the service was great. The bread was unique and tasted good and fresh. They were generous with the yogurt and tomato ( salsa like) sauces. We had the kabab plate ( the meats were so tender and tasty) and lamb stew- oh my the best I have tasted, the combination of the tomato and peppers with tender lamb and luscious. My husband had the seafood pasta, the salt and the creaminess was perfect and the shrimp and calamari was tender. We also had the fish stew cooked in a clay pot ( see the video) - sooooo good!! We had grapes and tea to top it all. If you are looking for great food- this place is a must EAT! read more

We decided try this restaurant after read positive reviews on yelp. The location it's near of blue mosque tram stop but it hidden back round street not easy to found. From outside look just simple and regular small Turkish restaurant. As I have chicken clay potry (testi kebab) it just average. I feel just simply boiled chicken with tomato and paper and onions not more taste less. Don't know how it can rate 5 stars. There's many better restaurant around many. read more

An excellent experience from beginning to end. Menderes was an outstanding waiter - considerate, friendly, warm, kind and very patient. He made the entire experience a real highlight of our brief time in Istanbul. The food - spectacular - and nothing less. The testi kebab (we enjoyed beef & lamb) was filling and full of rich, juicy, succulent flavors - and was quite the spectacle being served from the broken pottery case over fire right in front of us! The appetizer sampler plate and mixed bureks were excellent (my wife fell in love with the eggplant!) and the dessert of baklava was the best we had tried in the city :) Erhan and Menderes made this magical city even more wonderful. If we return to Istanbul (almost a certainty!), a visit to Erhan will be a top priority! Many thanks Menderes - you made a few great days in Istanbul even more incredible! read more

In most trips there is a memorable dining experience and we've had two at this restaurant. Food delicious and very friendly owner and staff, Moses and Esaf. Istanbul overall has been amazing and these guys helped towards that experience. Hope to go again before we leave. read more

Our hotel recommended Erhan because everyone they have sent there has loved it. I understand why. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and the food was excellent. My wife and I both had an entrée and we shared a bottle of house wine. I also had a bowl of soup. Greek bread with hummus before the meal and dessert afterward were free. The total bill on my credit card came to $38 including the tip. It was a enjoyable meal and a great way to relax after a tiring day of sightseeing. Understand that their idea of service is to not rush you. They might still be refilling our (free) apple tea if we had not asked for our check. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We went to Erhan based on the tripadvisor recommendations and of course Yelp reviews were great. I would say we were thrilled to have chosen this place, for one it was extremely raved about and secondly it was barely 20 steps from where we stayed in Sultanahmet. We were greeted by extremely welcoming people. Started with grape leaves and minced salad. It was one refreshing start for dinner. For main course, we ordered lamb stew, which came with rice and mashed potatoes. It was one flavorful, well cooked meal served with Lots of love. The meal ended with serving of chocolate sauce covered baklava and Turkish tea; and they were on the house. I would highly recommend this place. And also, it was very reasonably priced, actually much cheaper than any of those restaurants on the Main Street which is just 10 ft away. I went in based on the raving reviews a solo female traveler from Hawaii gave us of this place and we were not disappointed. The people here were so kind and just wanted us to be full, happy, and comfortable. My family was led in by one very friendly gentleman who was advertising on the street, and served by Asef (my spelling is probably off) who was also very warm. We met & spoke with just about everyone who worked there. They were just so kind and welcoming, it was exactly what we needed for our first meal in Istanbul. Not to mention the food was great! We'd been traveling for almost 17 hours and this was a wonderful and relaxing experience. I am a vegetarian and they accommodated all of us. We had lentil soup and bread, yogurt, and spicy tomato dip to start and then we shared a vegetable stew with mashed potatoes and rice. Everything was so delicious. Deliciously fresh food. Lovely hummus and salad. The calamari was good, but could have been fried a little longer, and also could have been a bit more seasoned. Searing chicken stew with lots of great vegetables, it came with both rice and potato mash. The mash was superb. However, the stew also lacked some seasoning. The staff was attentive and friendly, and I was served baklava on the house together with my coffee.
