J'étais si heureuse de trouver Épicerie-traiteur La Montagne dorée car ils avaient tout ce que je voulais. Je suis à moitié japonais et ils avaient du riz japonais, des boissons, des collations et des assaisonnements parmi d'autres aliments asiatiques de Chine, de Corée, du Vietnam et du Laos que j'aime - en un seul arrêt, j'ai pu remplir mon réfrigérateur et mes armoires. J'ai eu une excellente conversation avec un homme et son fils qui ne savaient pas ce qu'était le furikake japonais ni comment il était utilisé, alors je l'ai expliqué et ils ont acheté quelques bocaux avec joie. Si vous visitez le Québec, ils n'acceptent que l'argent comptant ou le débit - pas de crédit, alors soyez prêt. Je ferai une autre visite avant de quitter Québec. I also like having familiar Asian ingredients so I can make rice and other dishes as well as Asian snacks and drinks. I was so happy to find Épicerie-caterer La Montagne Dorée because they had everything I wanted. I'm half Japanese and they had Japanese rice, drinks, snacks and seasonings among other Asian foods from China, Korea, Vietnam and Laos that I love - in one stop I had been able to fill my fridge and cupboards. I had a great chat with a man and his son who didn't know what Japanese furikake was or how it was used, so I explained it and they happily bought a few jars. If you are visiting Quebec, they only accept cash or debit - no credit, so be prepared. I will make another visit before leaving Quebec. Great place, highly recommended!

Located in the Marché du Vieux-Port, this is an excellent destination not just for tea lovers but for spice folks too. I was staring at this place up and down from the outside. And once you're inside it was hard to take it all in. Place is jam-packed with a gazillion cabinets and Tins full of Teas and Spices. Plus you can get other non-perishables. So here's the thing- La Route isn't a Café. But it is a cozy and funky shop holding a humongous selection of Teas- practically in every flavor. Heads up people, aisles are narrow. They're so narrow, two people walking opposite each other have to just keep it moving sideways. Brought back home a Chocolate Chai Tea selection as well as regular Chai in loose tea form. Plus grabbed Cayenne, Garam Masala and Coriander powder for my fave Lasooni Gobi recipe to make at home. Definitely make a stop here if this is up your alley. And have to also say, La Route is the most enticing tea and spice shop I've seen so far.
