We thought we were going to eat dinner at Legoland in Billund today, but one thing led to another and we ended up back in Vejle, so just decided to go to Enzo because it was the restaurant at the bottom floor of our hotel and we were too exhausted to plan otherwise. You're next to the fjord and all the beautiful architecture, so if the weather is nice, it's a perfect area to walk around before and/or afterwards.
So, yeah, it's Italian in a small city in Denmark. Service is wham bam quick and dinner arrived pretty suddenly. Our daughter got the kid's lasagna that was clearly a reheated/broiled situation (sauce, meat, etc. were OK). The #25 fusilli with sausage, gorgonzola, and mushrooms was just...odd. The sauce was a thin cream sauce and there was SO much of it that the pasta was drowning, and nothing tasted like it had gorgonzola. The #67 Ortolana pizza had a nice crust but it was beyond bland and we had to douse the whole thing with salt. Good that we had a Aperol Spritz and beer to wash all of it down.
Honestly, the best part of the whole experience was dessert. We ordered the pistachio cheesecake, which means something else in Denmark because the "cheesecake" part was essentially a very light and delicious whipped filling that had pistachio crumble on the bottom and a kind of thick saucy layer on top--FYI it's served from a jar. Delicious! Our daughter was escorted to the gelato case to pick three flavors, and she settled on apricot (we were so proud!), vanilla, and cookies-n-cream. All of them were delicious, but the apricot was extraordinarily so. The flavor was buzzzzzzing! Yum.
Come here if you must because it's not a "bad" experience. Just set expectations accordingly and be sure to order dessert. read more
