This review is different from my last review because it's based on a eye emergency. Two to three…read moreweeks after getting an eye exam for new prescription glasses I noticed that my left eye ached a little bit and I started seeing flashes of light that looked like miniature thunderbolts and some black floaters. I didn't call Dr. Ward the first day because we had a storm that made tornados that were in our area - in fact we were under a tornado warning most of the day. Thankfully our area was unaffected but several miles up the road severe damage was done. I called the first thing Friday morning and explained my symptoms to the receptionist who stated "You need to get in here ASAP,it doesn't sound good and we will be closing soon." I live only ten minutes away so I was there as fast as could be. They took me back to an examination room right away, I explained to the assistant my symptoms which she relayed promptly to Dr. Ward who said to dilate my left eye right away. I was extremely nervous and apprehensive about the condition of my eye and how whatever it was would affect my sight in the future. I have to say how wonderful she was! She put my mind at ease by explaining the procedures and understanding my fears. She rubbed my arm and said all will be well. Then she turned out the lights and told me to relax and let the eye drops do their job. After about ten minutes she came back in and checked the size of my pupil and said it looked good and dilated enough for doctor to come in. Dr. Ward came right away and talked to me to help my anxiety about my vision even more. He was warm, kind and caring. He took his scope with an extremely bright light and looked inside my eye all the way back to the retina. He told me to look one way with my eyes and then the other way, up and down. He told me I had an eye condition called Detached Vitreous. He explained that there is a clear jelly like substance that is before the retina and that it had detached from the back of my eye. He said I didn't need laser surgery at that time because in a lot of instances it will reattach itself if I followed his directions. He gave me a print out of all the precautions I had to follow. No bending over, no lifting anything heavier than 10 pounds. No activity to cause the pressure in my eyes to go up, no banging or shaking of my head and I had a special eye chart that I had to look at using my left eye only. It had a black dot in the middle of a grid and if the lines became wavy or disappeared I had to call him right away. He also told me if my vision changed during the weekend I had to go to the emergency room right away. Very easy to understand direction after my visit to do. He also stated I had to return in two weeks for him to check my eye again to see how it was healing. His staff got me in and checked out with temporary sunglasses in less than an hour. I left his office with a appointment for two weeks feeling infinitely better with his diagnosis and care. Two weeks later I returned for a check up. Dr. Ward said my eye was healing but not completely so I had to continue for two more weeks of restrictive activities. Since there is a lot of road construction going on in our town he even told me to stay away from those roads since they were pretty torn up. I not only recommend Dr. Ward and his wonderful staff for eye glasses but most importantly for any eye problems/ diseases you may be experiencing. I only have wonderful things to say about his care. My vision is doing great - I am able to read and write again (especially my Yelp reviews) and resume all my activities. Following his directions for that month I truly believe helped save my eyesight so I didn't end up with a detached retina which requires laser surgery. Ward's Eye Center is fantastic for all your vision needs!

Dr, Ward is a very strange man. He told me I was overweight, I'm 5'6…read more163 pounds. I am a women, 66 years old. Told me i probably won't live another 10 years. He couldn't stop talking about himself and all his accomplishments. I've been a patient of his for quite some time and he didn't remember me. Couldn't even look at my chart then and greet me by my name. His office screwed up my husbands' prescription 3 times. Left the astigmatism off and his glasses were made incorrectly. My husband called him and called him out on his remarks to me. He apologized saying he may have been over the line. He said everyone makes mistakes and that he had already made 3 that day. Do you want a Dr. that makes 3 or more mistakes a day? I will not be returning to this weirdo anymore.
