This store may be small but it seems to have the best curated selection of handcrafted Swedish goods compared to others. It does mean one may have to look up and down in addition to sideways as yours truly did in order to find something :) I was about to walk out with something small when I saw a very nice necklace for my wife just below my field of vision in the showcase at the checkout. More frustratingly, Royal Design contacted me approximately seven months after my order was delivered to request reimbursement for import duties they said were mistakenly billed to them because of an issue with FedEx. I was then sent multiple reminders, including threats of debt collection or legal action, for a charge that was never communicated at the time of delivery. Customers should not be expected to calculate international duties themselves or receive an unexpected bill months later because of a billing issue between the retailer and its shipping carrier. At minimum, Royal Design should provide a clear duty estimate at checkout and resolve carrier billing errors promptly, rather than passing the consequences on to the customer long after the purchase.

I have received some as gifts but had never visited the store itself until now. IMO this is a unique place in Sweden, or anywhere. There are two sewing machines right in the store, and everything is made in Sweden. The designs are delightful and the fabrics are workmanship are quality. Also, I was pleasantly surprised at the prices! The dollar is strong right now and these items were much less than I thought they would be. The website is really user friendly; you can look at each item online and filter by category. The staff is extremely nice and helpful, and there's also a section of the store where you can pay for someone to help you repaint or rework the furniture piece you're buying. Great if you find the perfect piece but would like it freshened up, the color changed etc.
