Had a great experience renting a rental car. Sedrick was especially professional and taking care of the customers coming into the place. He strikes me as a hard-working, caring, high quality professional who really cares about his job and the customers. If he isn't a manager yet, he should be one, climbing higher in the business. I rented the car through USAA. I got the car I wanted, got a great price, no hidden fees, was full of gas when I picked it up, it was a really great experience. Another man helped me later upon returning the car, I don't know his name, but he had a beard. After giving Enterprise on Broadway in the Bronx a low survey response I must now go back and apologize to the staff who throughout my whole rental process were attentive and courteous. Upon the return of the rental vehicle I had an issue and blamed Enterprise (it was not their fault). Classic bait and switch operation with miserable customer service. They refused to honor my reservation insisting I take a more expensive model. I asked to be notified when the model I reserved was available for the advertised price. They never called. I called every two days and was told the same thing. Take a more expensive car or get nothing. Never rent a car from this location or any enterprise for that matter. I contacted the corporate customer service line and was promised a car. My car was vandalized on September 13th and I have been using this location for my car rental needs. I cannot say enough about the staff and especially the Manager Chrisann. She was absolutely wonderful with my son and I, and always took a moment out of her busy schedule to inquire if we were okay. She truly cared about our situation and us. Tomorrow I finally get my vehicle back and gave her a big hug this afternoon and thanked her and the staff for always being so nice and helpful to us. I've used Enterprise location at 5618 Broadway, The Bronx, NY quite often over the years. Recently, I've noticed the maintenance of the vehicles has gone from bad to worse. This especially true with tire pressure. During a recent rental I asked that the tire pressure be checked. I was told it would be. Regardless I pulled into a gas station down the road and found one of the tires was off by ten pounds! It is dangerous to rent a vehicle with such low tire pressure. I can only suggest checking the tire pressure on the vehicle as soon as you leave the 5618 Broadway location. Also, over the years I've experienced the following at the Enterprise 5618 Broadway location: tire with a bubble (had to exchange vehicle at distant location), missing oil cap (only discovered when burning smell began), cars with filthy interiors, interior light not working. I could go on and on! Enterprise is a great car rental company, but this Bronx location is awful! read more

Their hours and days of operation are pathetic. Closed Sundays even though that's when people need to return weekend cars. Open only 8am-5pm, if they're open at all. I tried them a few times but each time was forced to garage the car the night before and/or after my rental. Now I use a 24-hour Avis location. read more

I arrived in plenty of time before closing to pick up the car. The woman at the front desk was extremely cranky. She needed to feed my details into the handheld computer twice to correct for the level of gas in the vehicle. Then it was claimed that my card did not go through. I called the card company they confirmed it had gone through. She then printed a slip showing that the card was declined. I called again and and the card company gave me a confirmation number of the transaction. I asked to run the card again, so one charge would fall off as a mistake, but the lady said that it was company policy to not run the same card twice. I needed to speak to the manager, she said. She then proceeded to give the car to 'another qualifying customer' and proceeded to close the shutters. The manager came and explained that it was company policy. A car was returned at 5 minutes to closing time. I had no choice and presented a second card. This car again had half a tank of gas. Upon return the same cranky woman slaps a refuelling charge on my bill, even though I returned it with well over half a tank of gas. So now I have one of two charges at the credit card company still pending and I will have to file a complaint with them to sort out this mess. Sigh. This place is more trouble than it's worth. read more

I rented a car from the Riverdale Enterprise. I had a wedding to go to. They left me sitting and waiting for about an hour and a half. One associate came up and asked me a few questions then disappeared. I have no idea what happened. I saw people come in after me, get a car before me and leave. I asked twice and they told me the car would be up front shortly. A hour and a half later, another associate took pity and asked me what my name was and when was my reservation. Needless to say, I'm glad I drove up the night before the wedding. They would have made me late. read more

Friendly, professional and the most affordable in NYC! Rates are significantly cheaper than anything you'll find in Manhattan--less than half! It's a quick ride via bus or 1 train coming from upper manhattan. The guy behind the counter is always on top of his game: Friendly, courteous, accommodating, personable and professional. I have rented from here 3 or 4 times now and its the same unwavering customer support; solid and friendly. There was only one time where I was forced to wait on my reservation because they decided to drop an old lady off on Saturday, a special exception that they made because they don't usually do drop-offs/pickups on the weekend. The person who dropped them off got lost in the car that I had a reservation for. I had to wait a good half hour and was pressed for time because I had to get to a wedding rehearsal. It worked out in the end however and the Enterprise guy was apologetic and sympathetic. Other than that, it's been solid and they usually have sufficient service and cars as long you make a reservation. I strongly urge you to make a reservation in advance for 2 reasons: 1) It's significantly cheaper if made in advance, you cut nearly half off on the rental costs. 2) Cars are reserved quick, especially on the weekend. If you wait to the last minute, you're most likely going to be out of luck for getting a rental. Tidbit: Reserve an economy car and usually you'll get bumped up to something nicer because they won't have an economy car available. read more

I reserved a car about 2 months ahead of time with my Enterprise online membership. I went into the shop to confirm my reservation 2 days ahead of the rental date and the guy said no problem. When I went in to pick up the car, there wasn't a car. It took about 4 hours for them to find a car. When I finally got the car, I noted damage to the attendant and she said it wasn't big enough damage to note. Then when I returned the car, they tried unsuccessfully to charge me. Insist on noting all damage, however small. read more

Canceled my reservation because they said I was "disrespectful"; after waiting for an hour after closing and being told I was going to wait an hour more. I booked ahead, my total cost was comparatively "low" $75/day (when I tried to rebook the cost was up to $300/day) - they never had any intention of renting me a car - I was not profitable. I have no car and need to get to 55th wedding anniversary - canceling a reservation is not justified, but that is in their power. This location is greedy, poorly managed and obnoxious. read more

The management in this place is terrible. Came in to rent a car and once I'm going to pay the imbecile of manager who is taking care of me decided that he does not want to informe that I can't use my card because of insufficient fonds but still continues to swipe my card to the point that it gets blocked by the company. He see that my card is getting declined but it not letting me know why. Only after it gets blocked by the company does he say that I don't have sufficient fonds and that I can't used the same card even if I put more fonds because it blocked. Like who in there right mind keeps swiping after a card is declined and does not informe the customer. But there is more after he says that I can't use the card that I need to use another, I said that I will use my debit card. But apparently I need to bring my bank statements and work pay stubs in order to use my card. MY CARD WHICH IS DEBIT. After all of that he has the balls to make me wait 40 minuets for my car only to receive a car that was unclean and smelled like cigarettes. As a person who has experience in customer service and still works in customer services THIS IS NOT HOW YOU TREAT A PAYING CUSTOMER. read more

I have used Enterprise Rent-A-Car literally for years, and always had a very good experience. The last rental, which came from the Broadway location in the Bronx, was the exception to the rule: The worst experience to date. For starters, when we did the "walk around" to see the condition of the car, I noticed there was a dent on the front bumper. Just for safety's sake, and no future arguments, I took a picture with my phone. Later, I realized that the driver side window had this weird sticky film on it, that I couldn't explain, that made night visibility very poor. One of my coworkers explained that what was there was cheap film, that had been removed, and what remained was the gluey residue. Then the issue with the E-Z Pass: The last time I rented from Enterprise, up in Elmsford, NY, it was a seamless rental. That Enterprise switched the account to my own E-Z Pass account and allowed the use of my transponder which made all the toll transactions easy. Not so with this Broadway location. I could not register the rental with my own E-Z Pass account which would have been the easier way to go. Then came time for the return of the vehicle. Another agent did the "walk through" and immediately pointed to the dent. Seems his colleague had called it a "scratch". Thank goodness for the photo. But why should it have been necessary? They had no answer for the gluey window. They really could not have cared less. I wrote all this to corporate headquarters. Not a single response. That alone was shocking. I don't make a habit of writing Yelp reviews nor sending reports to company headquarters, but this warranted some attention. Corporate apparently did not think so. Perhaps when it hits them in the pocketbook, I'll get an answer. read more

I have rented here several times over the years. I am very pleased. The staff is very friendly. Yes, it can take a while during peak hours (maybe 20-30 mins), but the wait times do not come close to how bad they are at other locations/companies. I understand the car you reserve may not always be the car you get, but fortunately I usually don't need more than an economy or compact. Most times I am upgraded to a larger car which can be great as long as I don't NEED a bigger car or get a huge gas guzzler. One Thanksgiving they were completely out of cars, which wasn't great because we needed to get on the road to the holiday party out of state. They were very apologetic and drove us to another location about 20 mins away and upgraded our car. Granted the 30 minute collective delay was a pain, but we were also picking up a car on Thanksgiving morning...issues are to be expected. The cars are always clean and in good condition. I'm very meticulous about looking for any damage before taking a car. I'm paranoid because another company accused me of damages I did not incur. Staff always kindly and patiently wait for my thorough inspection (even in the pouring rain - twice!). Returning the car is a breeze. Customer service is really great. It's my favorite car rental location/company. I just wish Enterprise in general offered more convenient store hours. They basically force you to pay an extra day for weekend trips because most locations are closed Sundays and only until noonish Saturdays. A Monday morning return is hard for those with 9-5 jobs. In short this location is good and has great customer service. My major issues are how Enterprise as a company conducts business as a whole, which isn't the fault of the great folks at this location. read more

Enterprise Rental Car - Seems that Enterprise fall into NYC bad habits, that are kicking all business with long, long waits. I received a reminder call, two days in advance to confirm my reservation, I was ask to be at 5:30 PM to pick up the vehicle as business closes at 6:00 PM; so I though, that was nice to have a reminder; after that call my expectations were hight. Big disappointment, I got there as requested 5:30 PM; four clients were ahead of me in the office, well I ask for a walk-in signing list, nobody pay attention, people walk in with car returns and were received right away, three customers got here after me and left before me, don't ask me how that happen, but I start thinking what type of system they have - "if it was any" - was no organization in this place. Finally, I complete my rental until 6:30 PM, with a car that was return few minutes before, - customer got late and of course they took care of him right away - car was just lite vacuum and wet the exterior. Staff wasn't rude, they were just not paying attention, anyways you cannot compensate when there is a lack of planning. Honestly at this time, I will keep myself away from this place, we'll see in the future. Two stars should be enough as they don't have a procedures but if they have, well they are just not following any, its my personal opinion. Try it yourself and good luck.... read more

She responded "ok"...never heard from this place again. MY FINAL REVIEW...If you want to be completely ripped off, lied to and picked up by there representative in a vehicle that smells like freshly smoked marijuana. I've rented many cars from this location, and I am compelled to give 2 stars because I feel like I've seen the customer service decline significantly in the past year. Some things are just out of control of the staff - the location makes it very, very difficult to drop a car off if there is another customer present because of the tiny driveway that's always full. I was once told to keep circling the block until I could pull into the driveway because if I parked in front I would get a ticket. I mean...it just shouldn't be that difficult to drop off a car. I would also just really appreciate it if the staff who are working would at least acknowledge me when I'm waiting for my reservation for 30 minutes. I can name 5-6 times when I've walked in while others were being helped, and no one even said 'Hello, I'll be with you when I'm done." Since I rent for work, I'm going to McLean Ave more and more because the length of time that it can take to get into the car and on the road is so unpredictable at this location, and the customer service is stellar. Also, they actually pick you up and drop you off. I've been offered drop off service in Kingsbridge exactly twice, once it was totally fine and the other time they said it would "just take an hour." I rented a car through Enterprise and had an OK experience. When I picked up the car, the gas tank was nearly empty. When I expressed concern they told me it was OK for me to return it empty, but as I was using the car to drive upstate, I had to fill the tank to get there. I ended up spending nearly $60 to fill it up as it was an SUV and returned it half full which they didn't even acknowledge. And they get away with it because they offer an option for the customer to pay them a lower rate than at the gas station so the customer doesn't have to fill up the tank before the return, yet Enterprise doesn't fill up the tank. Also, one of the key fobs was out of battery and every time I turned on the car I got an alert. There were 2 key fobs but I was a little concerned both were going to die and it's one of the fancy cars where you need the fob nearby to press the button to turn on the engine. Aside from those concerns, the car was really nice. All in all OK and location was convenient and generally affordable so I might use them again. read more

Rented a mini van as a one way from this location to another state. When I was given the car, the associate barely looked it over for damages, asked me if I was getting insurance coverage I said yes and handed me the keys. THANK GOD I DID! I had the van in my possession for a total of 3.2 hours. No issues whatsoever. When I returned it to the out of state Enterprise, I was told this was by far the most damaged car they have received to date. Me being a first time renter, felt beyond mortified. I trusted this company to give me a car in good condition, I didn't know I should have covered myself with pictures and notes on the damages when given to me. I wasn't expecting to be used as some sort of pawn to load the car off on another location. I was told, because I had coverage I should be ok, since it wasn't in all honesty my fault. Guess what I got overnighted to me 3 days later? A letter from the damage recovery unit asking me to fill out an incident report. I mean really?! I don't know what's going to happen now, and how I will even start to fight something I didn't do. The car had damages that could not have possibly been done in 3 hours under my possession. Words cant describe how upset I am to be put thru this situation, I am beyond disappointed. I will NEVER rent from this place. EVER. STAY AWAY. read more

What I love most about this place is the location - a block above the 1 train stop, which makes it sooooo easy to hop off, get a car and go! I also like it because you can avoid some of the Manhattan traffic, especially for points north and west of the city. I would give a special shout out to Cedric, who has been wonderful each time we've been in. I'd recommend getting there early on Saturdays, because they close early. read more

I rented a corolla a week ago. When I went to pick up the car, they gave me a maxima , never asked or authorized an upgrade. Great check in and great check out except they charged me $14/day more than my reservation price, price of full size which isn't what I reserved. I have called to speak to the manager twice to fix and I'm still waiting for a callback. Not professional. I would not rent from here again. I shouldn't have to chase the manager around, they should make it right! UPDATE after writing this review, the branch manager called and refunded 100% of my rental because of the problem. He said he was never given the message of my call. That is more than I asked for. I will now consider renting again from Enterprise. read more

Cedric (Manager) and Amie (Assistant Manager) put a lot of work into helping out with a billing issue, worked with the credit card company to resolve and was in touch with me once it was resolved. Due to the location and the demand, the branch is busy and most times there is a wait to get the car. I find (like most rental places) they do not always have the car you reserved, but always offer an "upgraded" car. I live in the neighborhood and find the location convenient. Usually I have no problems here, but my rental for the July 4th weekend was a very negative experience. There were lots of reservations - no surprise for a holiday - but after the first few people were taken care of, they simply did not have any more cars. About 20 of us had to wait for several hours while the staff called other locations to see if they had extra cars, and called customers scheduled to return their rentals that day to find out when they'd be returning. I waited over 2 hrs. and there was still a crowd waiting when I finally got a car. I understand this is a small location, but why not either keep additional cars in a nearby lot or just don't take reservations you can't honor in a reasonable amount of time? When I finally got a car, I realized (after driving away) that it was Canadian--so the speedometer was only in km. What a pain. I didn't think it was even legal to rent a car in the U.S. that didn't have an MPH speedometer, but when I brought it up when returning the car, the agent was pretty indifferent about my concerns. I'm a longtime customer, and have generally had good experiences with the friendly staff here, but after this I'm not sure I'd want to go back to Enterprise again. read more

I have rented from this location several times in the past year. I agree with other comments that the staff here is very professional and friendly. However, it doesn't seem that they are given the resources to provide adequate service. We rented a car on July 2 to go out of town for the 4th of July weekend. I understand that it's a holiday weekend and that a lot of people want to get out of town. However, I (and everyone else) waited over 2 hours to get a car. It's a small location, and I know that they can't keep all the cars onsite, but it seemed like they had no plan as to how to get cars. They were calling customers to see if they were returning their car that day, calling other locations to see if they had extra cars (of course, nobody did). They also had a few specialty cars onsite, but they would not upgrade people for free. One person finally caved and paid the extra $50 a day for a convertible because he couldn't wait another hour for the car he had reserved. Now, I'm no expert, but it seems to me that if you have 40 people coming in on a Saturday morning, maybe move the SUVs and convertibles to another site and have a few extra sedans available. Maybe have a plan in place for drivers to deliver cars from the airport every 30 minutes or so. It's not like the 4th of July snuck up on them. I appreciate the donuts and coffee they had in the office, but I would have appreciated the extra three hours to enjoy the weekend with my family instead of sitting in a rental car office. read more
