My experience of car rental companies to date had been so so at best. I was stunned that they called me within about 5 minutes of my insurance company approving the rental to me over the phone. They offered to collect me from my house as they knew that my vehicle was not roadworthy and when I got there, they offered me a choice of vehicles. They told me that a set rental had been agreed with my insurance company but that they would liaise with the vehicle repairers and extend my rental as necessary. When I spoke to them on the phone and when they showed me round the vehicle they were incredibly thorough and professional. All car rental companies should be like this.

Excellent service - far exceeded my expectations…read more I hired a van from Gatwick Van Hire on 28.09.18, having picked them at random from an online search. My intial enquiry was dealt with very efficently, and I arrived early on the day of collection to find that the paperwork was ready, the van was ready and I was on the road within 10 minutes. Their Gatwick premises were immaculate, and the hire fleet were in a similar condition - I did not see a vehicle that was over a year old, or other than pristine. Upon return - which was out of hours - the facilities to leave the van and keys was effortless, and I received an email from them early the next day - Sunday - confirming that they were happy with the condition that the van was returned in. I did not have any preconceived ideas of what to expect when hiring a van, however Mercedes / Audi levels of efficency and customer service, and an immaculate hire fleet was far beyond my expectations - and they were the cheapest too. I can't recommend them highly enough! 11 out of 10 stars.

I hired a Luton van so that I could move from Canterbury up to London as I had quite a lot to move…read moreand only wanted to it in one trip (the first 100 miles is free then it costs per mile). The hire cost seemed reasonable to me - it was £75 for a day, which is all i needed. Then there was £200 insurance... Which felt a bit steep but I paid it on the understanding that it would be returned back to e asap (who can afford £200 just when they are moving). The move went great and the van seemed in pretty good knick for a hire. The problems only arose once we had returned the van. The deposit that was supposed to be returned asap was anything but prompt. When I hadn't received the deposit after a week I gave them a ring and was told "it's definitely been repaid and will be with you in the next couple of days". Another week passed and I called again. This time I was told they would check with their accountants and see whats happened. Then nothing... I heard nothing from them until a month later when they called me to tell me that they had just realised the repayment was never made. I'll give them their dues - they did call and let me know but it was now a month and a half after my original rental and i still hadn't been paid. I was told they were processing it now and it would take 5 extra days for the money to go into my account. That's fine but it was December the 21st before I received the money after taking out the rental on November the 16th. It was extremely frustrating and I can't in any good faith recommend them.
