Hollywood Cemetery was established in 1870. Honestly, I thought that it would be a lot more…read morehistorically significant, however, it seemed that a lot of the graves here are much more newer. I don't know why I like visiting cemeteries. I know it seems a bit odd to many, but perhaps I just like the thought that the grounds that I am walking the ground that house the graves of people who lived entire lives long before I was born and now they rest in eternal slumber hopefully content with the path they walked while upon this realm. I also am always amazed at the reference that people from other times gave to their loved ones when they have gone. The graves are truly testaments and the headstones show the love that the grieving families bestowed upon those who have passed.

My dad recently passed away in September 2024 and he was laid to rest one plot down from my grandmother. Nearly a month after being laid to rest, we installed grass at his plot because this cemetery does not provide grass. Upon arrival, we were circled repeatedly by a red jeep. This jeep was speeding around the cemetery and it felt as if they were watching us. An old man stormed out of the jeep and stood on my stepfathers plot and began to yell at us. This man identified himself as Barry, President of the board for the Hollywood Cemetery. He told us our grave decorations were not allowed and that we had better rip them up and take them home with us. He also screamed at us about laying grass and said we needed to call first. We did try to make contact prior to laying the grass. They do not have contact information or business hours listed on google. When I let Barry know, he screamed that he did not care what Google said and that the phone number has been the same since the 1800s. He then tried to scare me and intimidate me by saying I was on private property. I let him know he was standing on my family's four grave plots to which he replied we only paid for the burial not the plot. I think he's very confused and unfit for this position. When I called the cemeterys number on site, he answered and told me if I had a problem with him to write the board a letter and that he serves as president. upon receiving the letters he said he would read them and share them with his friends along with the video his wife took from the jeep. i Pray she releases the video to show what a pompous asshole this guy is. He told us to go get the rules from the office, we said we would and he declined to provide them and drove away in his red jeep. This person should not be in charge of speaking to the public. He is unfit to deal with people who are in mourning or coming to pay respects to their deceased. He has no manners and lacks respect, empath, and general understanding.
