The staff are very nice and helpful and the kids have loads to do and just plain love it. One thing to note - if you want to send your child here you need to get on the list well in advance as they fill up fast each semester. I would recommend signing up at least a year in advance if you can, as space is at a premium.

There is always something exciting happening at the Ennis National School!! 3 of my children were…read moreeducated at the ENS and graduated with a great education and lovely memories of primary school. Both the teachers and the principal were very attentive to the needs of the children. One of my children needed extra reading support and the school were fantastic in how they handled this. Our children always felt safe at school which was very important to us. The school excelled in extra curricular activities. Each of our children left school with a great love for sport, music and art. The school building is new and has state of the art facilities. We would recommend the ENS to any family who is seeking a great primary school for their children. https://www.ennisns.ie/

My brother, 14 yo niece and I took a 2hour surf lesson with Bens in Lahinch on a whim in July 2014…read more It was amazing, mostly due to great attitude of the staff, a guy called Mike who sorted us out and the owner Ben who gave us the lesson. He is the most highly qualified instructor (level 3?) and vowed, he told us, to only let his instructors have a maximum 6 students at a time, with smaller groups the norm. He was able to give us instant feedback on every single wave we tried (and sometimes succeeded) to catch. We were all novices, though comfortable in the water, but made good progress, I'm convinced because of his instruction. DONT try surfing without first getting a lesson, as there is a lot that is counter-intuitive to us beginners. Ben himself is an absolute gent, good crack, and a very clear instructor. They also give instruction all the way up to advanced level, are open year-round, and he is expanding this year having bought a new premises to move into right beside the beach. I cant think of anything negative to say. The beach itself is very safe, with shallow waters that go out for hundreds of metres, professional lifeguards on duty, and a friendly vibe from all the other surfers and schools around. Non surfers, wives, kids, can enjoy the beach too while you are 50 metres away paddling on your board. Bens also does bike rentals, rock climbing and kayaking and this part of county Clare is perfect for those types of activity. Can't recommend this guy and his business highly enough.

The meals were tasty too - the Irish breakfast is HUGE and the Sorrento toast was fresh and filling. The barista was hilarious - he made amazing coffee, was passionate and kind and full of life. Truly elevated the experience. Cute newer looking establishment with great decor that is eye appealing.

I was expecting way more from a well known instructor here in Ennis, really disappointed with him…read more My wife booked 12 lessons and none were the whole hour as promised, being the worst as short as 45 min.!! He cancelled a few lessons with very short notice even knowing that she was in a hurry to pass the test due to the very advanced pregnancy. She was told that collecting/dropping her at home was a special favour, whereas all the other instructors in town are happy to do it as a regular basis. Eventually, he raised the price per lesson from €30 to €35. He doesn't motivate properly, and anybody learning anything needs loads of motivation! Forgot to mention that he never provided a bill and the Logbook where he should have stamped after every lesson of those 12 Essential Driver Training (EDT) mandatory lessons required to pass the car test that he never mentioned either. Just found another local instructor for her, such a big difference!
