A substantial amount of thermal/water amenities, all of which feel very sanitary/maintained. I wish I was able to schedule a massage - however, it is completely understandable I couldn't squeeze in an appointment the day of. I felt completely relaxed after my appointment! My only note is that the aroma mist in the salt room did not seem to work (this may have been user error). Additionally one of the showers in the locker room was not in service. Definitely recommend booking here if you are looking for a relaxing day!

Mind you they can be quite pricey, but this has all got to do with the image their trying to project, as well as the various treatments they offer. As usual I haven't heard of most of them, but was particularly curious about the rainforest shower. Thankfully, I have a friend who has actually been to the Amazon (they come in REALLY handy!) and basically it's a room with showerheads all over the ceiling, so it seems as though it's raining in the room. Ofcourse if you'd rather just have a facial and a massage, they do that as well. They've got two pools, one of which is thermal, and a gym for those who'd rather "feel the burn" than relax, though I'd rather get in the sauna when there's that alternative.

They had a kiosk where you can become a member, buy a day, 3 day pass, etc. if you need any help there is a call button & someone does come out. I got a 3 day pass for about $16 USD. You use a code to enter and exit. They have an abundant amount of cardio equipment, free & machine (Matrix) weights. I visited around 7:00 on a Friday night and they weren't busy, just right. Equipment was newer and in good shape and the floor/area was clean. They also have showers & lockers (need to bring your own lock) as well beverage vending machines. TVs show health tips mixed in with Ads & commercials. Great place for a visitor to keep the workout routine at a reasonable price!

The gym is in a sort of funky area. You have to enter a building and walk down an odd corridor to take some stairs down to the gym. It feels a bit like you're going to a basement. There really isn't natural lighting so it added to that vibe. The equipment is ok. They had enough machines and cardio equipment for most. The weight area felt a little light and small, but plenty to get a quick workout in. The people were quite nice and friendly, something I don't experience much in the states at gyms. In the states it's a laughably competitive environment where everyone tries to outdo each other. Being at a gym while on vacation, where am I going to get a protein shake, or a caffeinated preworkout? Luckily they had a pretty solid little machine there with anything you'd need pre, intra, or post workout. Def come in if you're from out of town, and if you're a downtown local, not a bad option at all!

I had the worst experience with this club and rude customer service trying to cancel my membership…read more The locker rooms were unsanitary and slippery, with no plastic bags for your clothes or any place to put wet towels. Half of the equipment in the gym needed to be fixed and updated. The mats were dirty, and there needed to be more weights for everyone. The steam room was out of service daily, and the swimming pool was filthy. I signed up for a yoga class, and they called to cancel the same day without an explanation. I wasted my time, energy, and money. I recommend joining the One Spa Gym, which has excellent state-of-the-art equipment and a fantastic spa experience. I canceled my membership after three visits, and I paid over £100 in the joining fee, pro-rated costs, and another month on top of that. Beware of scams, and stay away from Bannatyne.

Gym is upstairs, really spacious and bright, wide variety of machines and weights etc. Cafe is big too and offers smoothies, protein shakes, and healthy breakfasts and meals if you're in a rush! I'm yet to try a class so will comment on that later. My only gripe is that it's only open until 8pm Saturday's and Sunday's, I work 12 hour shifts at weekends quite often and would love to come for a swim afterwards. I'm sure other Bannatyne's gyms are open later so that's something they could improve!

I know of other PureGym's which charge £19.99 or even £14.99 per month. For me, I'm happy paying what I am. - This is my closest gym and I know I would be less likely to visit if I had to walk farther and paying bus fares to get to a cheaper PureGym would work out less cost-effective across the month. I've had my fair share of gym memberships, my last membership being to a health club with a pool. I've saved myself a lot of money by switching to PureGym and the quality of training is in no way inferior. It's really easy to book a place in classes online and the class timetable is pretty jam-packed too. I love that they offer yoga classes! - These are £2 extra as the qualified yoga instructors are independent of PureGym. I'm happy with that as my nearest yoga place is £15 per class! Yikes. The only thing missing is a pool. PureSwim, anyone?

The same machines and equipment, the same showers set up, the same locks for the lockers, the same always bring a towel etc etc. So I will summarize the following points: -always bring a towel (for machines) and a lock (for your locker) -there's plenty of treadmills, bikes, rowing machines, strength training machines that I've yet to have to wait. -the January influx isn't as bad as you think except for classes. -personal trainers are available at a price but they generally loiter around the gym and always seem happy to offer advice. -24 hours, 7days. This gym has a weird layout to be honest. It's somewhat longer than it is wide, so you feel like you're in a corridor. This means you might have to look around some corners to find the equipment you're looking for. It's also more expensive than the others (though obviously nowhere near other type of gyms). It's a convenient gym for me and I'm loving my visits! Still need to try a class though!!

Treat their long term members with complete contempt. They are a despicable conglomerate - bought…read moreand sold dozens of times money money money .. but its all about your health and well being isn't it ??? Due to the lack of decent private gyms in Edinburgh they get away with the profiteering and pretty poor experience in relation to the fees. Sycophantic management on a mass scale .. only care about taking your money steer clear give your money to the local authority gyms or other independents ! This club is Very poorly run by incompetent passive aggressive management who turn a blind eye to real problems and hide in offices plonking away on a keyboard writing pathetic nonsense about their members. Staff come and go through a revolving door. However, ok facilities and kept pretty clean although this has deteriorated over the years.. Lounge area is nice to sit in but as others comment is not somewhere you would go to relax or have a quiet coffee as it's always full of children bawling and running around. Unfortunately they have a monopoly on indoor tennis courts which hopefully will change in the future. Tennis wise - you can also never get a court due to coaching and kids tennis unless you can get in during lunchtime. At over £144 for 1 full peak adult per month - Not worth it unless you want to live there. Apparently you can't use the new club in Danderhall as it's an Elite one yet this club is a premier ... they're even inventing new ways to make their crap clubs sound more exclusive. This is in part ruined by their constant 2 week deals throughout the year , you ask yourself why am I paying all this when people can use these deals over and over and not forgetting the 3 months notice period meaning a full racket member will pay £1738 per year and 3 months to cancel - During the school holidays (Easter, summer etc..) they always run promotions so forget relaxing by their outdoor pool as it's Scottish Butlins ! All this is fine I guess but they don't tell you this when you sign up , it's not really an adult environment more for families. Long gone are the days where it was an inspiring environment for youngish professionals/ adults it's a glorified, over priced, underwhelming leisure centre. Gym is just ok- it isn't very big and can feel busy with only a handful of people in it , and certainly is not worth the fee , your also not buying into some sort of better gym etiquette, if anything it's one of the worst I've witnessed people sitting on there phones , lost count of the amount of TikTok videos I'm on without my consent ! Most other local gyms have just as good machines and weights and some have a lot more at a fraction of the price, with same or better etiquette. Changing facilities and toilets are completely inadequate for a place of this size and it's membership. Gym staff pour over you if pay for PT sessions otherwise ignore you and all the people sitting on their phones for ages as well as other behaviour.. Don't do anything to enforce rules and for this reason you'd be as well joining a budget gym as the managers are certainly more in tune with members rather than their ego and being the top performing club ... ie ripping their members off the most. Regional manager is horrendous, bullies the staff hence the reason everyone leaves. Very very bizarre culture. Wish Esporta Virgin active/ Nuffield could take it over. I've was a member for 15 years and left overlapped with new membership at Nuffield and haven't needed to complain once in nearly 2 years.

I actually felt a little like I was in an American Movie when I walked into the gym (clearly I have been going to small gyms for far too long). I am not a member but was given a guest pass which I really enjoyed using, the gym was great, the pool was great (indoor and outdoor), sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi - need I go on. The one thing I did notice was that no one spoke to each other (unless they knew each other) which made it feel a little unfriendly. Despite all this I do think the prices are a little high, but then this kind of gym is aimed at people with money (in my opinion) having said that if I am ever in the position where I can afford £80 a month then I will definitely join too.
