Having previously contracted Mr. Sanchez for another project, a custom "no soliciting" sign, which I was very pleased with, I presented my case to Mr. Sanchez exclaiming that all other vendors I had attempted to negotiate this service with would not have the product turned around in time for the ceremony. I apologized for the short-fused request. He accepted the challenge, asked me several questions to work out the details of material, measurements and aesthetics. He had a draft turned around within 12 hours, and by next morning It was done. Result: "OUTSTANDING" He not only captured every detail, but chose materials and texture that I had not accounted for, which added a "pop" to complement the rest of the artifacts associated with the member's service. I sent Oleg a simple silver tag bracelet to engrave two plates with name top and date on back. One…read morename and date came out well. The other plate had a few issues. The name was off center to the right, there was also a small tool mark. On the back, the date had a large stray graver cut right through the top of the first 2. This 2 did not even match any of the other 2s that he did. When I ask him to redo the engraving. Oleg said that I should go away and he never wants to do business with me ever again. This is the whole email exchange: Me: "Got the braclet. There are a few issues with it. Attached are some pictures. 1) The name Jasper has a scratch from the J. Also the name is both physically and visibly shifted to the right and squished. 2) The first 2 on the date on the back of Jasper has a engraving line right through the top. I would like to send you another silver plate for a redo. Would it be better to machine engrave the date to better match the others?" Oleg: "In this situation, engraving is free. Don't send me your stuff anymore." Me: "I send the new plate tomorrow. " Oleg: "No, I don't want to do business with you." Me: "Why are you saying that you won't fix this job? You, as a professional Jeweler and Master Engraver, are refusing to work with me, because you rushed a job resulting in a faulty engraving? I have not even mentioned the fact that when you did the engraving on the box clasp you damaged it and I had to spend more time to repair it back into working condition. When all is said and done, you'd rather drop me as a client than fix your simple mistakes?" Oleg: ... (the sound of crickets chirping, and a lone wolf howling) My small shop has used Oleg several times a year for about four years and his work has been adequate to excellent, but apparently if you ever criticize even the simplest thing he becomes a drama queen. Honestly having to deal with his ego 3-4 times a year is such a pain that its just not worth it, even when he does a good job. I would rather work with someone that took enough pride in their work that they would at least try to fix a simple issue.

I met with Lee Ann Martinez in the showroom and asked if they could create a plaque by then. Instead of turning me away with a laugh, she told me to wait while she spoke with their engraver. A few moments later, she returned with an alternative suggestion since an engraved plaque wouldn't be possible in such a short time. She offered a printed plaque using our company logo, showing me a few samples. I chose a gold overlay with a redwood base. She asked me to email her the logo and the text for the plaque, and she would send me a quote. I quickly returned to the office and sent the information. By Wednesday, she contacted me with the invoice, which I paid immediately given the tight timeline. At the time, I didn't realize that another email had come in with a proof for me to review. On Thursday at 2 PM, she sent a follow-up asking me to approve the proof, and that's when I realized I had missed her email in my overflowing inbox! I immediately reviewed and approved it, but I was worried it wouldn't be finished in time, especially since it was my fault for the delay. She assured me they'd notify me when it was ready. Less than 24 hours later, by 11:30 AM the next day, the plaque was ready--and it looked amazing! Our retiree was thrilled with it. I'll definitely be using Crown Trophy again soon.
