The English Garden is divided into two portions by the busy Isarring road. The southern part is around 2 km long, while the northern part, called the Hirschau, is around 3 km long. In the southern part the grass in the open expanses must be kept short; but in the Hirschau some meadows are allowed to grow and mown for hay in June and August, while others are used as pasture for sheep. Two beer gardens, the "Aumeister", built in 1810-11 and the "Hirschau", built in 1840 are located at the north and south end of the Hirschau respectively. The northern part of the English Garden is the quieter and more open part of the garden. It is also the part mostly frequented by locals.
On really warm days there is often plenty of space in this part of the park when the rest of the park on the southern side is chock a block with locals and tourists. This is the more rugged part of the park and has wide open spaces along with lots of trees.
I love this part of the park and so does our dog. Plenty of open space to run around and not be running into people all the time ;-) It is relatively close to where we live and we often visit this part of the park on busy days. read more
