UPDATE 6/6/17: There are a number of issues with the windows, mostly cosmetic. I will detail others in a follow-up because I don't want to detract from, by far, the biggest issue : one of the two large picture windows I ordered is all bent out of shape. (The other was also compressed, but relatively minimally.) Within 18" of the bottom corner it has already lost a full 3/16" of width from plumb, and in the middle it was 3/8" narrower than the header or sill. The issue, and this has been acknowledged by their customer assistance guy Scott, is that the window was shrinkwrapped before the glazing adhesive had cured, in a rush to get it out, and the frame got squished and was then stuck in that shape. This is not merely a cosmetic issue as the window can't be trimmed out because the accessory groove that would accept the trim is as bent as the rest of the frame. At first, Scott indicated that the window would be reglazed or replaced, as would be reasonable. He even said, in the case of reglazing, that they'd ship a new glass just in case the existing glass broke during the procedure. Then, having talked to some other folks there, he came back with an approach that involves me, the customer, trying to pull the window frame out by force, using screws all along the height of the frame. No pre-shipping new glass in case there's breakage, which all of a sudden was not a concern. I was not comfortable with this: the potential for glass breakage leading to over a hundred pounds of glass fragments all over the place, the insulated glass unit losing its seal in a procedure that I'm sure is not approved by the glass manufacturer, and simply the notion of stretching and stressing the sealant in ways that I am sure was never intended by the sealant manufacturer and would likely lead to premature failure - and, of course, there's the issue of again putting on the customer the burden of their error. First with being asked to deliver myself the windows for whose delivery I had paid, and now with being asked to fix myself a window which has a manufacturing defect and is supposedly covered by a 20 year warranty. Since then, I've had a week of back-and-forth where Scott acknowledges that I SHOULD be receiving a new window over the phone, but without any follow-up or commitment because he hadn't been able to get the replacement approved by his bosses. I keep calling because I don't receive the promised call-backs or emails. Today, I called twice and left a message many hours ago and nobody even bothered to pick up the phone or return the call. I paid the invoice in full and on time. I did my part. EnerLux, time and again, shows that they apparently don't consider themselves bound by contract, sound business practices, or ethics. UPDATE 5/15/17: The windows were delivered today and they appear sturdy and well made. I will post another update as soon as I have had a chance to gain some more detailed impressions. Since I haven't heard from Enerlux since the below review I have no update on their customer service. ORIGINAL: I don't know what Enerlux windows look like, because, four months after ordering mine and placing a 50% deposit (over $5000), I still have not received them. They were supposed to be delivered to my residence but two companies (Estes and National) have refused to attempt delivery because the crates are too large to be delivered by liftgate. Paul V. of Enerlux has made what he thinks are several reasonable offers, each of them involving me picking up the windows at the Estes warehouse (by pickup, or by U-Haul truck, or by Ryder rental liftgate truck) for which he offered compensation of $150. I disagree that it is reasonable to expect the customer to take upon himself the liability of doing a delivery that two professional shipping companies have determined is not safe. I have no crew, I have no insurance, I have no equipment, and I have no idea what I'd be getting myself into. Paul has called my reluctance "ridiculous," has accused me of not wanting to help at all, and has threatened that he will not refund the 50% deposit that I have already paid, even though no delivery has been made. If he follows through on this threat I will refer this issue to the authorities as well as seek legal recourse. Meanwhile, though, even if the rest of this transaction goes according to the contract, I am stuck with knowing that I have made a major investment in the product of a highly unprofessional company. read more

I'm from Boston and was looking for energy efficient fiberglass windows. I looked at all the standards Marvin, Pella, Anderson and also Inline and Fibertec from Canada. I happened to stumble on an article about EnerLux and decided to give them a call. After much research their product on paper is superior to anything sold in this country and had the same energy numbers as the Canadian windows (much stricter energy standards than US) plus much better hardware (not plastic). I ended up getting triple pane casements and could not be happier. They are beautiful windows and well crafted. They open more smoothly than any of the Marvin, Pella or Anderson I tried. Thad, the rep I dealt with at the company knows his product inside and out. We only had only 1 small issue in the order, not related to the quality of the product, and he addressed it and was responsive the entire time. I do NOT recommend anyone use this company for a new home building project. I signed a quote with them in late September 2012 to provide the windows and most exterior doors for the new energy star house we are building (installation was to be included); paid them half of the costs in early November 2012. They told me the windows and doors would be ready by early January. It's now mid-March 2013 and all the windows still aren't in and the doors are only partially in (doors are in place but not completely weather stripped or in working order). This company has no clue about the importance of the timing of new home construction, how one process can't be started until another is competed first, and getting the house closed in timely with windows and doors is a critical part of the process. I have had a TERRIBLE experience with this company, wish I had gone with the Marvin Ultrex windows we had initially thought about going with. They may be okay for remodeling work, but from my experience they are awful for new home construction. read more
