The changing facilities are good (why can't all swimming pools have decent-sized family changing cubicles?) and the prices quite reasonable. There will be bigger and more exciting swimming pools up and down the country I'm sure, but for what it is this particular swimming pool cannot be faulted. Our two kids (now aged 3 and 5) love it.

Things which could be better are the opening hours and the water temperature. Also, a bigger gym would be a huge plus.

I can't really put my finger on what it is about Louth, but it just doesn't really appeal as somewhere to go. Although not technically expensive, I feel that it is more on the pricey side, considering the quality you get.

If you're willing to pay more they can supply fresh towels for your visit, give you your own locker, and let you use their UK gym network. The courts are a surprise in terms of surface: they have opted for carpet. However this plays quite well for tennis. There are six indoor tennis courts and 3 badminton courts, together with 3 squash courts. The club benefits from three swimming pools: indoors there is a junior pool and a 25m pool, with a 10-15m pool outdoors. One of the better clubs I've been to, but you certainly pay for it.

It's open all year round as it has an indoor heated pool which is pretty lovely - almost like a giant bath. It's also a full sized 25m number which means that those serious about using swimming to get fit have plenty to go at. Ilkley Pool's finest hours come in the height of summer, however, when the outdoor pool, the "lido" is open for business. It's perfect for those very rare days in England when you actually need to cool off, and can be a good day out with mates as there's always plenty of young people there having fun - there's also plenty of opportunity to sunbathe if the weather really is that good. There's tennis courts and a putting green available too but it's really all about the lido - at under £4, it's the perfect summer bargain day out.
