I am beyond upset with Encore and Karen. We received an email today that the Chesterfield location was going to be shut down due to "moving into a new phase of life and planning on retirement". I can understand it being due to the lower enrollment at this studio, but this should have been communicated to us after the May Recital, NOT the day after the Summer Showcase and still let us sign up for classes TODAY! Yes - the same day the email was sent out! This has left us absolutely scrambling for other studios for our girls, since a lot of the studios have already been filled up or auditions for intensive programs already completed. These girls have been going for years and to not have the decency to let us know farther in advance is unfathomable. read more

Encore has been an amazing place for my daughter. She started dancing there three years ago in a beginner class and has since moved up to the competition level. The amount of self confidence this program has instilled in my child is unbelievable. These girls have no problem going on stage in huge arenas and giving it their all. I could not imagine doing that as a tween/teen. The studio is such a warm, secure environment where the girls can be themselves and encourage each other. The instructors are some of the best, providing good structure and setting high expectations for the dancers. When you are on a competitive team you need constructive criticism and critiquing. I know a few reviews said the teachers are "mean", and I wanted to speak to that. What the instructors are doing is pushing the dancers, beyond their comfort zone, to be the best that they can be. So many parents today think everyone should win and get a gold star. But that is not the way life works. I want my child to be prepared for the real world, and Encore is going to be a part of what she becomes. Now my daughter wants to push herself harder, to be better, and takes the critiques as a compliment. That makes me very proud as a parent. Oh, and guess what, the instructors are actually nice and they smile! Simply sweet as pie! We love them all. There is great communication from the studio and I am always up to speed on what is going on, where we will be traveling, and know what the schedule will be for classes and competitions. The other mothers of the dancers have become friends and we all support one another and keep each other in the loop. The owner is a doll and is typically on site watching the classes and sometimes teaching herself. My daughter just adores her. If you are looking for the best, then Encore is your studio!! read more

This place is horrible. Owners are absent except to take your money. Instructors are college kids who call in sick and take vacations all the time. At least one of the instructors also does not work well with children and yells at them all the time. I signed up two kids and over half the classes were canceled. Also, they will lump kids of various ages together in the same class - my 11-year old had a 6-year old in her class. What a rip-off. I have a friend who brought her two kids here, and had the same probelms with a bad instructor who either yells at the kids or ignores them. ONe more thing...when they have their year-end recital, you have to buy tickets for your kids, who are in the recital! What a complete rip-off. Stay away! read more

My daughter is 3 and just had her first dance classes this summer with recital coming up this Saturday. I have to say, she has loved it. Her teacher is "Miss Bridgett" and this girl is very peppy and optimistic and seems to be great with the kids. I love that her recital outfit is included in tuition, as well. The interior is very well designed and it's nice that you can register and pay for classes online. Out of all the places I looked at, this one seemed to be the best fit and from talking with my own clients, they all recommend this studio. I probably would, too. read more

I have two daughters, and one of them does dance. We moved to the area, and we heard good things about this studio. So, we decided to enroll her in some classes. She came out crying on the first day of dance, and she came out crying everyday since. I asked her if she wanted to quit, and she kept saying no. She decided to try out for Pink Ladies. At first we were very happy for her, but it wasn't what it seemed. Practices started getting more and more horrifying for her. She didn't want to go to dance anymore. We moved, and now she's at a dance studio where people appreciate her as a person. These teachers are crushing and ruining little girls' lives. It's horrifying. read more

I don't personally dance at Encore but all of my bestfriends do and they love it. They are constantly raving about their dances, teachers, and guest choreographers. It's so great to see all my friends so happy doing what they love at encore studio! If I could dance I would dance at Encore studio!! read more

I danced here for 3 years as a competitive dancer and it was a waste of 3 years. There's a few teachers there that are just completely rude. They'll talk to you anyway they want, as if you're a robot with no feelings. The best teachers there (personality wise) was Dana, Bridget, and Julie. The others are just rude people. Every single teacher there picks favorites and it's obvious. Also, the teachers just didn't like me for some reason.. I don't know why.. I never did ANYTHING to them. I once got called out in tap because I wasn't wearing "appropriate dance clothing." when all I was wearing was leggings and a regular t-shirt. meanwhile, there were a few girls that day wearing plaid button up shirts... I guess they decided to match that day.. I'm not sure. who even wears a plaid shirt to dance anyway.. The teachers always yelled at me for being late when it clearly isn't my fault. I'm not the driver. I can't control when my mom leaves.. She's the adult, and I'm the child, as a child, rushing my mom to get me somewhere sure isn't my place. We will get there, when we get there, that's it! I tried getting close with the teachers who didn't like me, but it never worked. Angel definitely didn't like me for some reason and I really didn't have a clue why. She always used to make faces at me. All of the teachers had their favorites... I was never one of those "favorites." A lot of my friends on pink ladies left encore for all different reasons and moved to Jadore or just stopped dancing. Encore is insanely expensive. My mom couldn't afford it anymore. Almost $400.00 a month for dance lessons, from teachers who barely even liked me. My mom was also confused on how she's paying all of this money every month for me to dance and she had to pay about 17 dollars for recital tickets. They didn't just pick favorite students either, they picked favorite teamsIt was basically a, if you're not that good, but have potential, you're a minority, if you're almost as good as Maddie Ziegler, you're a priority. . That one was an obvious one. The teachers yelled at me ALL the time for stupid things, and did things out of spite. They try to make themselves look like a perfect studio by posting those pictures on Instagram and Twitter and etc. but they're truly not. Besides that, their dances and dancers are super good. I loved every dance that they put on stag including mine. The owner, Karen, is super nice and I loved her !! read more
