Dr. Pourkbar is a good doctor. The problem often is being able to be seen. I allied today, Thursday and was informed he couldn't see me until maybe Monday if I called before others. After being a patient at Encompass (Lee's Summit) for over 25 years, I received a letter saying I need to pick a new primary care physician. However, they are saying their are no physicians in their clinic that can accommodate me. They offered me the opportunity to pick a nurse practitioner as my pcp, however, I do not feel comfortable with that. They offered no other solution, other than finding a new doctor. I really like my Doctor who is a true professional and I can tell he really cares. Unfortunately the staff is rude, controlling and I sense they don't care about their patients. Even though my prescription showed that I had a refill they refused to refill without an appointment. After many years with the Lee's Summit practice, I had to make the decision to leave. After two doctors have left over the last couple of years, the service has declined tremendously. They hold back on filling prescriptions until you make an appointment, when you were just in the office a few months ago. If I'm required to see a doctor every 6 months and was there 4 months ago, why tell me I have to make an appointment for 2 months from now to get today's medicine? I don't know who these clinical managers are that are making prescription decisions and strong arming patients into making unnecessary appointments months in advance, but Encompass needs to do an audit of this office. My primary care physician for the last 40+ years left the practice Aug 2024 and in 2025 I called about an appointment and found out the current Dr's have no openings for new patients even though I've been there over 40 years. All of this I found out after wating over 25 minutes on hold trying to make an appointment. I've been very happy with my experiences with the medical group but the staffing interactions are terrible. I'm not sure what is going on behind the scenes, but when 2 of the doctors have left, 3 new ones have been added and a legacy patient can no longer be scene there are major problems somewhere. read more

I wanted to like this group after my Doctor transferred there but it was awful After she left, I assumed they would assign me another Doctor there but NO. And it wasn't until months later, I was told to find another Doctor all together somewhere else as they would not accept any new patients. It is crystal clear to me now why my fabulous Doctor left They are rude, incompetent, uncaring, and unprofessional. And who leaves patients to scramble for another doctor before prescriptions run out... and act like they are doing you a big favor when they do give you one last refill. My doctor transferred to this group. I transferred my records there and saw her as a doctor there. Now she has left to go to urgent care. This practice is telling me that since my doctor left, I am now considered a new patient. They aren't booking any new patients out for a whole year. I had the unfortunate experience of picking Dr. Pourakbar as my primary care physician. I am now in the process of suing Dr. Pourakbar for malpractice and sexual assault. This doctor will rush you through every visit, he will ignore your symptoms, he will refuse to make the appropriate referrals and he will lose his temper and storm out of the room, leaving you to wonder what is going on. I made complaints to his management, and they also have ignored my questions and concerns and now I am left in a very critical period, without a primary care physician at all. I am quite sure they are breaking several laws. These people only care about money and seeing as many patients in a day as they can fit in. Jody, his phone assistant refuses to return any calls, or address any concerns. She should be fired from her position, but they probably cant find anyone else to work that cheap. She probably kisses his rear end every day and the Dr. loves that. I did not kiss his ass. I retired at 44 because I am much smarter than Dr. Pourakbar and know how to run a successful business with customer care and appreciation. Ian McDowell is the clinician manager and he promised to help me find care as I switched Doctors. He is a liar and a coward. Good luck finding a good doctor anywhere nowadays. They are all idiots treating their practice like a used car dealership. I pay 700 per month for insurance, and all I got was ignored by this sack of puss. I'm 63 years old. I have been a patient at Encompass Medical since I was a child. It was Hickman Mills Clinic, then in Grandview MO. All my claims for services provided were processed as in network. July 2023, the Clinic all of a sudden was out of network on my health insurance. Which I dont know until my claim is processed out of network. My insurance provider told me they mailed paperwork to the Clinic that would of corrected the out of network issue, but the clinic never returned the paper work. I called the office managers at 2 different locations, the billing manager, and a CFO. Left messages, all over the place trying to find someone who would listen. No one ever answers the phone and they certainly don't call you back. I'm a responsible person who can be understanding of explanations. But when NO ONE WILL CALL YOU BACK to talk about it, that makes me furious! Extremely rude behavior. read more

Had a horrible experience with Dr. Jones, who left the practice. Was transferred to Ashley Murphy (after being shuffled around to a couple of different Drs) and she is great, very thorough. However her team is terrible at communication. They don't return calls, don't fill Rx in a timely manor, even ones that cause terrible side effects if not tapered off. And anytime you call be prepared to wait on hold or at least 10 minutes to speak to someone, and don't expect to be treated kindly over the phone. And 10 minutes is short, usually more like 20+. The lab techs are fantastic and Ashley Murphy is great, but my experience with everyone else here has been terrible. I am going to try to transfer back to Encompass Leawood, I have been with Encompass for 25 years and hate to lose all of that data/medical records by leaving all together. read more

I only went there once but the front desk staff were incredibly rude after she left I needed a prescription refill for a well known Fibromyalgia treatment. when I called to get it, I was informed that their practice does not fill prescriptions for controlled substances anymore. they didn't give me any refills to get me to another doctor. This review is in reference to the Lees Summit Douglas site. After an experience my son had with this office I felt I needed to write a review. After reading a review written (Anthony A 8/3/22) I KNEW I had to write this review advocating for those with mental illness. If you suffer from depression or anxiety this IS NOT the place for you. They do not show respect, compassion, or dignity. My son was terminated from this group d/t being a difficult patient. I am sure that this is a true statement. Although trying to get a script filled and sent to the correct pharmacy can cause a person to loss patience. I am not excusing his behavior. My biggest concern and a potential liability is that he was sent a letter (that he did not receive) informing him that he was no longer allowed to be a patient at this office. That is their right- but with the medications my son is on, an antidepressant and anti anxiety medication you can't just stop the medication. He is now left with minimal medications and will soon be out, which will cause him to go thru some significant withdrawal. Apparently this is not a concern to this office!? When asked what he should do he was basically told "we can't help you as you are not longer a patient here". I am a RN an am very aware of the complications from stopping these type of medications without tapering off. I feel that they should or could at least see a patient one final time (he is not a threat) and set them up for a successful discharge. It saddens me the way that this office treats those with a mental illness- is this how they also treat those with physical problems? I would never refer anyone to the northland group at all! They have made so many mistakes, they are not timely in getting back with you, they didn't report accurate information regarding my grandmothers ADLs. This office has contributed to the caregiver strain of helping an elderly grandparent more than I care to share with repeat issues. The front office has a lack of empathy as you are treated as if what you say doesn't matter, one of the CMAs I worked with was borderline incompetent. Office manager didn't truly listen when I had to complain to her about all the problems encountered, she just kept trying to solve it right there without listening to me. She was speaking over me much of the time which was frustrating as well. The only person who was able to help me was Gary the RN. The tech filled out paperwork incorrectly two different times. IT has been beyond frustrating! This almost prevented me from being able to get my elderly grandmother admitted into assisted living. read more

This review is in reference to Encompass Medical Group on 1741 NE Douglas St Ste 200 Lee's Summit, MO. I have been a patient with Encompass for about 7 years now. I deal with Massive depression, social anxiety and panic attacks. Their policy is to terminate patients after 3 no shows. In complete honesty, I did not follow the policy and was terminated. I am currently on medication that has severe side effects if it is stopped immediately. I spoke with a receptionist who informed me that I had been terminated. She was rude, lacked explanation of the policy when asked and refused to let me speak with a doctor or office manager. I continued to explain my situation to her and she proceeded to hang up in my face. My issue is, what if I would have been a suicidal patient on my last limb to seek professional help and received this type of service? What if this very scenario caused a life to be lost because they were treated like a criminal after 7 years of medical care with this group? I urge Encompass Medical group to look at the the severe reality of how bad customer service can impact someones wellbeing. In the future, please treat each patient as you would want to be treated, even if the policy is not followed. Try warning your patients of the policy to ensure that everyone is on the same page. To Dr. Washington Muro, MD, I think you are an excellent Dr with tons of experience, however your staff lacks the ability to show concern in critical circumstances. read more

I had a horrible experience with a nurse practitioner named Ashley Murphy! When I saw her, she was arrogant and quick to send me to someone else without listening to my issues. I simply questioned her about my bill and she was rude, unprofessional as she threw a doctor in the practice under the bus, wouldn't listen, lied about what was in my medical records and was incorrect. Once my insurance got involved, the insurance claim was resolved but she never apologized since she coded things wrong. I've seen some negative reviews about Dr. Douidar, however I have been working with her for a little over a month now, 3 appointments total and so far she has been professional and direct. She understands that insurance can be a real issue and so far has been up front about telling me what I need and to make sure my insurance has it covered before proceeding to avoid any mishaps. read more

The most painful people to work with, and if your doctor is out of town for 4 months-- they will be sure to not let you know, but also, not refill any of your necessary prescriptions when they run out. I would have given 0 stars, but it wouldn't let me. Encompass bought out the practice that my previous Dr was at and they are clearly not capable of handling the case load that they took on. In addition, they did not do their due diligence with the transfers. My Dr has since taken a position at another company (now I know why). I tried to fill a prescription that I have been on for 10 years yesterday and was informed that not only was I no longer a patient, but that they are not accepting new patients and I was out of luck. Ashley Murphys nurse was very rude and snide on the phone. I had been with the office they bought out for 20 years! The urgent care that I went to today to get a refill while I hunt for another Dr was appalled that they would leave me without a medication that is dangerous to come off of cold turkey, as was my pharmacist. Both of them worked to help me. I have NEVER been treated even close to as poorly as I was treated by this group. If you are a LSPG transfer, you should start looking for a new Dr because you will NOT receive the care you are accustomed from LSPG at Encompass, if they haven't already just dropped you. read more

I went to Encompass for approximately one year. The first physician I had retired and I was given a second very young physician. A couple of months later he left the practice so I was again without a Doctor. I needed refills that required authorization and the best they could do was an appointment three weeks away with a third physician. I am a retired pharmacist and am well aware of laws and regulations. However if they can't maintain an adequate medical staff, I am one of those people that goes elsewhere. And waiting three weeks to see a Health Care Provider so my prescriptions and be authorized for refill? I don't think so! read more

Well 20 minutes waiting for a reception to answer the phone should have been a good indication. Tried to make an appointment with Dr Glass, but told she is not taking new patients. I asked if there is any other doctors that will prescribe HRT, which she stated Dr Glass will take transgender patients, but requires a letter from a therapist......I transitioned 5 fives ago. There is no need for a letter from a therapist, the estrogen is to maintain the balance and for bone health. Very rude.....do not waste your time with this clinic. read more

I've been going here for over 10 years. I love how I can easily make an appointment to get in, and can either see my primary doctor or one of the other doctors or a nurse practitioner on staff. I have had good experiences with everyone I've seen over the years. I am especially grateful for my primary care doctor, Dr Dempsey. He is a genuine and caring doctor, which I feel is hard to find. I recommend this place to my friends and family all the time. I like the small hometown feel. I also like that there is a lab on site. If you're looking for a new doctor I recommend you give them a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

Re: Dr. Christopher Zielinski Encompass Medical group Lee's Summit MO. I wish I would have read reviews before I chose this group. I would not even give this doctor and group one star. My husband and I followed Dr Zielinski from Leawood KS to Lee's Summit MO because we really liked him. My husband and I are both retired. My husband saw Dr Zielinski In January 2020 for his "regular annual well visit". In August, We received the first billing "late" we were told due to Covid. The bill was for $232.00 for a "physical". A "physical" was not performed. Knowing it was a billing error I contacted the main billing office. They were rude and they said they could not correct it I needed to contact Dr Zielinski directly. I tried, I talked to Teresa in billing in his office. She said no problem she would talk to Dr Zielinski to get it changed. She called me back the next day and said Dr Zielinski would not change it. I asked for Dr Zielinski to call me, as I was with my husband for his appointment so I knew what services were performed. She said she could not guarantee that he would call. He didn't call, Instead: Dr Zielinski sent my husband and myself a certified letter saying he would no longer be our doctor and we were not allowed to see "any" other doctor in the "entire" encompass group. Medicare does not pay for "physicals" so you see if they code it as a physical they can collect a higher amount from the individual; more than what Medicare pays for an annual well visit. During a time of a medical crisis what kind of a doctor would treat a patient this way? We have found a new doctor with no problem. I would not trust this doctor to have your best medical interest in mind if he would do something like this on a billing mistake that they would not admit to. I see other reviews regarding billing so I believe this has not only happened to me but normal practice for them. Glad I found this out. We really need a doctor that cares about us. Dr. Melodie Armstrong is incredibly thorough and a great doctor. I trust her judgment completely. As for the office, sometimes I have an excessive wait and one time my paperwork got all messed up and had people moving me from office to office to try and figure it out. It tacked an extra 45 minutes onto my visit, but it all ended up working out in the end. But the staff is very nice and genuinely helpful. read more

I've been with Encompass Medical Group for about 3 years now only because my Saint Luke's provider wouldn't prescribe me Adderall. Just to give a little background, I'm a health insurance agent with UnitedHealthcare all over the nation and have spoken with SO many people about this particular medication. I'm a 43 year old wife and mom that's struggled all my life and was labeled "hyper" before there was a name for ADHD even though I was in "gifted" classes. In just the recent year or so, my doctor has rescheduled my appointment around 4 different occasions due to "family and/or medical issues." Then today I saw a Nurse Practitioner for the first time and I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO TERRIBLY BY A PROVIDER IN ALL MY LIFE!!! She treated me like a drug seeker and told me I couldn't keep my Saint Luke's doctor and come to them for this type of medication. She told me I needed to see a Psychiatrist!!! She gave me an ultimatum she wouldn't refill my prescription because I wouldn't get labs done there and didn't even give me a chance to explain that I'd be paying "out-of-network" and question why they couldn't get my recent annual labs from Saint Luke's. All I know is that I'm appalled and mortified ANY professional could treat somebody this way...and I'm in sales!!! read more

I started going to this practice less than a year ago. I was seen 3 times by one of the doctors and had my yearly blood work done. My doctor left the practice and when the pharmacy went to request a refill for my high blood pressure medication, Encompass Medical Group denied it. When I called to enquirer about why it was denied they explained that it was because my doctor left and I needed to schedule another appointment to be established with a new doctor. I confirmed that they have all of my records, all of my previous doctors notes, and my recent blood work from only 2 months ago. She said yes of course they have it. Then why would you deny my request for my high blood pressure medication?!?!!! It's UNSAFE to stop taking my medicine cold turkey. I shouldn't have to come into the office to shake a doctors hand just to get a refill on hbp meds. These type of business practices could lead to people having strokes or heart attacks. The entire entity "Encompass Medical Group" is responsible for my patient record. They have a responsibility and are liable. She said I had to schedule and appointment to meet the doctor but they could prescribe me an "emergency refill" until them. Is scheduled the appointment and I will be cancelling it as soon as I pick up my "emergency refill". I'll find a business worth giving my copay to. read more

I had my lab work done for a routine physical and wanted to ask my doctors nurse a question. I was told I could not have a conversation with her until I made an appointment. Seriously? I have to go without my medication until I can get in to see my doctor. I will find a new doctor. I've been receiving care at Encompass for more than 10 years and I'm very satisfied with the quality of care and the ability of the Encompass location to provide numerous diagnostic tools on site, like X-rays and sonograms. You don't have to run around to different locations to get those done. I've been a patient of Dr. John Mahon and he's personable and attentive as well as knowledgeable. On occasion, I've been seen by other doctors at the office, like Dr. Melodie Armstrong, when I needed attention on short notice, and they've all been excellent. Unlike another reviewer, I haven't had any problems with the office staff. It's always been possible to make appointments for care within reasonable amounts of time, waiting times are never long once I arrive, and in general it's all been well organized and hassle-free! I certainly can recommend Encompass if you're looking for a doctor! read more

I used to go here when I was young before Encompass bought them out and they were great. Now my son was going here but always saw a nurse practitioner because he could not get in with a doctor. Called today and was told he is no longer a patient and would be a "new" patient as he has not been in for 3 years and they are not accepting new patients until March. He is 20 yrs old, he has not been sick and no one has ever said that a young kid must come in for yearly checkups to stay on as a patient. What a joke this place has become. read more

Dr. Douidar is the worst I've seen. Little to no compassion or empathy. I was rushed through my appointment. She asked very little and made no time for questions. She wanted to run some tests and when I asked if my insurance would cover them she left the room as if disgusted with me. When I later made an appointment for the ultrasound I was told that I couldn't eat the day of. The doctor knew that I had already eaten that day because she wouldn't do my blood work, yet she still wanted to perform the ultrasound. Plumping up the bill? She also threatened not to refill my prescriptions unless I had these tests done. She instructed me that I had to follow her directions and if I didn't show up for my next appointment that I would still be charged. Appalling!!! I have no history with this doctor. So why would she assume that I wouldn't show up for my appointment. She was treating me like a drug addict who needed refills. My medications are typical. No narcotics. During the routine questioning she asked if I wanted to harm myself and before I could answer she said if you say yes I have to send you to the emergency room. Doesn't exactly beg me to be honest. I told her that I had lost my daughter three years ago and was experiencing some darkness. Asked no further questions about what was going on. Just threatened to send me to the emergency room if I had said that I wanted to hurt myself. I believe this Dr. is dangerous and should not be in the medical field. I am not the type of person that goes online to write a negative review. But I will not stop until this doctor realizes what harm she can do by being apathetic. Disgusting human being!! read more

I started going to Dr. Fitzmaurice two years ago when my physician of 25 years retired. I have been extremely happy with the office overall. I had some recent health concerns and expressed them to Dr. Fitzmaurice at my last annual check up last week. He went above and beyond listening to every one of my concerns and addressed each one until I understood what was going on. I would highly recommend Dr. Fitzmaurice and his assistant Pat. This was the most thorough exam I may have ever had as the Doctor and his assistant I felt actually cared about me. Thank you!! read more

Dr Mahon is the Best Doctor! He is almost (99.9%) always running on time, is very thorough, never rushed and very attentive! I've gone to this office for 20 years! The staff is very polite and helpful! The only Dr I will ever go see! He is a rock star! You can get so many tests done here and not have to run to different offices. The lab staff is excellent as well! I feel I'm in the very best care available! read more
