It's for all levels but directed towards those who might have taken a beginner class before a dance and are dedicated to improving their dancing. I took a fundamental class on spins and turns and it was fantastic. I came out of it with some really useful drills to practice at home and some ways to connect with my partner through turning. The second class is a Beyond Fundamentals Class. It's for anyone who's taken a fundamentals class before and is comfortable with basic moves. The last beyond fundamentals class I took was on competing and it most of all encouraged creativity without losing connection or the feeling of the music. So much fun! Frequently, the teachers will stay for both classes and help out, even if they're only teaching one. They're happy to give personalized feedback on what you need to improve. If you're brand new to Lindy Hop, they're also planning on offering classes for people with no experience. I expect this to be pretty awesome. The teachers at BLH are seriously cool magical unicorns of lindy hop who really look out for their students and also the community as a whole. After every class, we all go to the bar talk about dance, opinions of the class, and get to know each other on a more human level.

They have a program called The starlight pass, that encourages you to retake classes, to earn credits towards a really nice jacket and also gives you an opportunity to look at the material with a new set of eyes. Coming in for a second time you definitely pick things up from a different angle and it's a great way to see how much you've grown from when you started. All of the teachers are great, they have a rotating schedule so you get a nice variety. The website is easy to use and they're good about responding to questions. During covid they've tried to promote virtual events which have been fun and looking forward to when the world opens back up again and we're able to dance in person!

(If you want to tap dance to I'm a little teapot, go somewhere else.). The classes are mixed level, yet due to the smaller size, there is still quite a bit of individual instruction. The dancers support each other and value individual strengths. The studio is affiliated with Dance Prism, the local Professional Ballet Company, giving dancers of all ability the opportunity to perform professionally.

Aparna focuses on teaching the fundamentals with a strong emphasis on proper form and use of the body, as well as the aesthetics of Mysore style Bharata Natyam, an expressive and gentle form of this dance style. She sings the accompaniment herself and customizes group classes to suit multiple levels of students. Having studied with larger dance schools (Indian dance and others), I really appreciate the personal attention. I also study Kalari Payattu at the same school with Anil Natyaveda. This is a Keralan (the Southernmost state in India) martial art that combines intense workouts with various types of martial training. If you're looking for a martial arts challenge or a way to build upon yoga - this is it. Anil is a patient teacher with similarly strong emphasis on proper and safe movement fundamentals building into ever more complex combinations. The two forms together have greatly enhanced my dance skills with better body control, expressiveness, endurance and attention to detail. The school also supports Mohini Attam, and Kathakali upon request.

Serena and G, in particular, have made me grow so much as a dancer in terms of musicality, technique, and improvisation. The classes are challenging, technical, but simultaneously a total delight. I had to stop going for a while because of work/school, but I recently started going again and I've found these classes to be the most fulfilling type of self-care. Something that sets Masacote apart is the great community. Everyone is so friendly, from Greg at the front desk, to each of the instructors and even the students in the advanced classes. Tana, Audrey and Dave are great instructors. They are very skilled dancers but they also know how to communicate and translate that into skillful instruction. They really went/go out of their way to make sure I learn what I need to learn. They call themselves the Masa Tribe. While it was hard for me to see myself as part of something like a salsa dancing club, I see now why that name makes so much sense. I really feel I'm a part of a team every Tuesday and Thursday when I go to class, and even beyond that. I really recommend these classes to anyone who wants to learn to dance, to have fun or simply to meet wonderful people and make new friends. The location at the CAC is very nice and easily accessible. There is free parking after 5 pm. And the class prices are pretty affordable too!

My son (8) and daughter (12) have both danced with CRBA since age 3 and love it! My daughter now attends multiple days a week and is advancing in her ballet training, technique and pointe work. The teachers continue to challenge her and help her take pride in her progress. My son loves learning about different ballets and working with his classmates to choreograph pieces together. Both of my kids always come out so happy from their ballet classes. CRBA puts on an impressive Workshop Performance each year where students perform costumed and on stage. My daughter has also enjoyed performing in CRBA's annual Choreography Workshop. I would definitely recommend this ballet school for little ones just starting out to serious dancers who want to advance their training. The adult classes are fun too!
