My daughter has always dreamt of being a dancer. Once we finally signed her up for hip hop classes…read moreat PCDC, she was so excited too pursue her passion of dance. Her instructor Morgen made her feel very comfortable and more confident. Morgen told my daughter to try out for the competition team and when she got accepted she was absolutely over the moon! Unfortunately there was a miscommunication with a staff member the following recital, which also happened to be her very first performance. She was not told there was a bow at the end of the show, it was her dance teachers first year at PCDC and not even she was informed about this commitment along with many other students. We had other obligations the day of the recital not knowing about the bow. This lead to a staff member rudely stopping my daughter and her friend on their way to the bathroom to change out of there costumes. This woman approached these children with nothing more than a childish attitude. My daughter was being treated like she was dumb for not knowing this information. My daughter maturely stood up for herself causing the staff member too get more upset as her ego got hurt as she has clearly never had a student express there boundary's when it comes to blatant disrespect. I ended up signing my daughter out before the bow so we could attend our other obligations, however I was shocked to see my daughter walking down the hall hysterically in tears unable to calm down or explain the situation.Once we got to the car trying to understand her frustration became too difficult, I decided to go back in the building and ask a staff member what had happened. As I was walking through the doors I heard three employees including the member that caused my daughters tears, all gossiping not only about my daughter but "difficult students" in general. They were invalidating her feelings and minimizing the entire situation. As I admit too speaking in an angerly tone they still showed no remorse too the way they had acted as grown adults. To me this is concerning, considering they work with young children. Once we thought the situation was resolved, our family went along our day as planned, the following months we received no emails concerning the following dance season where my daughter had a place on the competition team. Once august rolled around I decided to call the PCDC office. Once I told them the lack of communication I received and my daughters name, they informed me that she was no longer welcome at the dance company. All summer my daughter was anticipating a fun filled dance season with her competiton team, and we were not once informed about her expell from this company. It worries me that this same staff member still works for PCDC and has every opportunity to continue treating students this way.

These kids love and support each other. I have been back stage for many, many performances over the years, and there is so much mutual respect and comraderie. It's beautiful to watch them working together, encouraging each other. We have always felt that the staff of LDT/CSB nailed the balance between letting kids be kids and setting expectations for them to develop as dancers. Our kids feel safe to push themselves and safe to fail here. It's been amazing to watch them grow in their love of dance. As a physician in the community, I have been more than impressed with how they have handled their operations during COVID. They quickly got classes up virtually this spring. When they were able to open this summer, they did so using guidelines that were even more strict than required. I felt totally safe sending my kids to dance there knowing the measures they were taking. Instead of taking the easy road and cancelling their 2020/2021 dance performance season, they went way outside the box and converted to fully filmed performances, including the full Nutcracker. The fact that they are willing to do all this shows how much they love their dancers and the arts and Longmont.

This is not a place I could recommend to other dance families, particularly, of teens. Laura, is a…read morewonderful, warm, kind instructor but unfortunately, she only teachers teens on Friday. The ballet and company instructor was shockingly rude, unkind and controlling. She called out dancers in front of their peers for wearing skin toned tights even though they had been told this was a perfectly acceptable and welcome practice. She forced a very clearly uncomfortable dancer to remove her skirt for ballet class, even though in the past skirts were apparently always ok. It would have been reasonable, if this was a new expectation, to tell the class that in the future, ballet without skirts would be the new expectation. There are a million reasons a young teenaged girl might not be prepared to remove her skirt for class without any warning. She also criticized my daughter's preference elastics on her pointe shoes. My daughter came out of class tearful after being embarrassed in front of her peers at a new school, in a new class. I went in to get clarification on what had taken place. The teacher was extremely defensive, terse and rude. When I asked about my daughter's pointe shoes she basically told me it didn't matter why they chose to wear the elastics. She didn't like it and wanted them to wear ribbons the way SHE wanted. My daughter has been en pointe for 3 years and knows what feels most supportive for her but this teacher did not care, nor did she even ask. We dropped the ballet class after this and also withdrew from company. In the 11 years we've been involved in dance we've rarely come across such a difficult and abrasive instructor. The second reason I would not recommend this school is the exorbitant cost. Most families are very mindful of the cost of dance, particularly with more than one dancer to support. The last reason I would caution others about Centennial is that our family went through a very drastic life change requiring us to possibly relocate to an area of the state that would simply be too far to make the drive. I had paid approx. $1600 dollars up front (a requirement) . We were only there for almost one month. When I learned about our predicament I asked for the tuition we hadn't used (2 months worth) to be refunded to us. They refused. I explained that it was a hardship to lose nearly $1000 for 2 months we didn't dance. No one returned my subsequent messages and we did not ever receive any of that money back. They claim it is their "policy". I have never come across this in 11 years of dance and moving to different states. Life happens! No one plans these things and we certainly didn't. It was upsetting to be treated so callously. There are many schools in the front range area... please do yourself a favor and pass on this one. Shiny brochures and head shots are not an indicator of a high quality program. Our experience has led us to caution other families who want a kind, supportive, inclusive environment, AND one that honors and respects how hard families work to provide their children with a dance education.

When my daughter walks in, I can see that Christine and the instructor know and take a personal interest in my daughter. I've observed the patience, kindness, and care they've shown to all students in class, which is honestly more important to me than anything else. ReVel has done a wonderful job with maintaining health safety standards and is incredibly accommodating when a class is missed by offering a virtual recording of the class and a class credit toward the next session. They are consistent with mask protocols and from what I have seen, other families are compliant with these expectations. Our experience with the recital was the best we have ever seen--bar none. It was evident that a lot of time, effort and thought went into preparing each student. From quality costumes to great choreographies, the studio did not miss. Most importantly, Christine has truly created a culture of focus on growing skills and confidence and this really shined through in the recital. Not only in the way the dancers were encouraging one another on stage but the ways in which instructors were hands on and supportive + the audience which was incredibly attentive + enthusiastic. Creating a positive culture like this doesn't happen by accident. It comes from intention, purpose + perseverance. And I'm so proud to have my daughter be a part of something as special as that. Our first season at ReVel was so wonderful + I cannot wait to see the ways in which the studio continues to grow + evolve!

She also didn't have much confidence and wouldn't stand up for herself which left her susceptible to being bullied at times. Needless to say, it was hard to watch as a father because I felt helpless. Less than a year into training with Proffessor Anthony, her personality had gone through the roof with confidence. By that time she had a solid Jiu-Jitsu foundation, and had even begun to compete and win in tournaments! And it all started to show big in her personal life, personal relationships, and just overall happiness. Today my daughter continues to thrive, battle, and win Jiu-Jitsu tournaments! She is still that sweet girl that she always was, but in addition is now very proud and confident. She no longer has problem making friends and now quickly and easily stands up for herself and others. The discipline and confidence of learning Jiu-Jitsu has also spilled over into school as she's a straight A student. I can't stress how much I recommend having a child join Motive. Just recently we signed up our 6 year old son and I look forward to proudly watch him grow into this journey as well. Professor Anthony is awesome with the kids! He has a great balance of fun, and learning a real effective martial art that you will keep with you for life. For the competitive minded, Proffesor Anthony encourages optional tournaments for his students where he prepares and coaches them for succes. Team Motive has often finished tournaments in the top 5 out of 45 plus schools. Words can't describe how proud I am to watch my daughter compete and perform complex submissions that I've watched pro fighters in the UFC do! 4 years ago I never would have even imagined her doing the things she does now!!!
