If I could leave six stars I would! This is the first time I've ever done hypnosis and empowered hypnosis is very good at helping you understand what hypnosis is vs. the myths about hypnosis before you start the session. I went to Selena because I have been trying, for several years, to get pregnant. Even with the help of fertility treatments, it still wasn't happening. The doctors called it on "explained infertility." Meaning there was no clear medical reason why it wasn't happening. I bought a 12 pack of sessions and by the 11th session I was pregnant! Does it get better than that! It will change the way you think about life and be a useful tool to help make all your dreams come true. I highly recommend Selena and Empowered Hypnosis. (Even though I bought a 12 pack from Selena I could use the sessions with any therapist. Caterina, who is also Reiki healer, did two of my sessions. She was wonderful and exactly the energy I needed the day before my transfer.) read more

This company continues to call me asking me to remove my yelp review. I keep asking them to stop harassing me and block their numbers but they keep calling me from other numbers and threaten me by telling me their lawyers will be contacting me. I haven't been to them in YEARS. The fact that they are now trying to harass me about this is pathetic and ridiculous. read more

This was hard to rate. Selena is a very pleasant woman, professional and well (and soft) spoken. All qualities, one would want in someone who would guide them through a process so intimate as Hypnosis. I purchased a Living Social voucher in August and went prior to my wedding. I was ignorant to Hypnosis and so when I went into the office I was under a different impression of services to be rendered than actually attained. For those that do not know, Hypnosis is guided meditation. And Selena was good at this. However, I have meditated in the past and found that I was much more energized and felt "healed" in a way, after having done it....I didn't really feel that in this session with Selena. Her office is tiny, yes. BUT it works. The intimacy of the office works, I think. With that said, give it a try and see if it works for you. It may, or may not. If you meditate I would suggest you go to a meditation class and do that instead, it would prove more beneficial to you. read more

I had the pleasure to have aromatherapy session with Rebecca, it was professional, on time and very relaxing. She has great healer personality, and you get way more than just a massage. I need to find more time and care for myself by Rebecca - thank you :) read more

I went to Selena D. Valentine Hypnosis Center a little over a month ago because a friend of mine who has been going regularly to see Shauna for the Hypnosis Gastric Band, lost a lot of weight. I am a woman of a "certain age" and I have begun to pack on a few pounds. I have tried diets but my lack of motivation had left me feeling at a loss. I figured why not try hypnosis, I tried everything else. I contacted Selena at the Hypnosis Center to inquire about the Gastric Band Program. She explained the program to me, what to expect, and the process. Selena is very nice. She even gave me a discount over the phone! I am a bit of a skeptic, so despite my phone conversation with Selena, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Fortunately I knew my friend would not send me somewhere crazy. The office was in a nice building, and everyone is so professional, and they are quite warm and just all around pleasant to speak with. I was made to feel comfortable right away. I must admit I was a bit distracted at first, but as we settled into the session, any outside distraction faded away. I have had several sessions now--It is actually working! I am truly amazed with the results. They have truly convinced my mind into believing I actually had Gastric Bypass Surgery. My stomach is very tight now and it feels tiny. I eat a fraction of the food I used to eat. I was able to cut way down on my sugar intake, and I have lost 10lb in the first month. If you are struggling like I was, I highly suggest the Hypnosis Gastric Band Program. I am going to start seeing them about exercise motivation next. Now that I am reducing, I need to tone up. Features: *Nice location *Friendly and professional staff *easy booking *priced well *It works (at least for me, and I am a skeptic) read more

I came to Empowered Hypnosis with a specific goal in mind. I wanted to pass my nursing assistant licensing exam. I worked with both Selena and Caterina. Both were wonderful to work with. It goes without saying that I not only passed my exam but I got specific questions on the day of my exam that I asked be included in my hypnosis session. Hypnosis is more like guided meditation it's not like what you see on t.v. so don't go in expecting pendulums and spiraling backgrounds. That being said, it can help you accomplish your goals and get to whatever is the root cause of why you're not accomplishing your dreams. Hypnosis is about getting to the subconscious mind. Sometimes things get in the way of our success and unless you can make them conscious it's hard to know how to resolve those issues. I'll be going back to Caterina next week for a deeper dive into what's been holding me back overall and look forward to having a completely improved lifestyle because of my work with her in addition to everything else I'm doing to improve my life! read more

I have known and collaborated with Selena for a number of years now and I can't say enough good things about her and her highly skilled team at Empowered Hypnosis. If you have been considering hypnosis but are unsure if it's right for you, or if you have tried hypnosis before and are looking for a lasting positive change, then this is the place for you! Great change doesn't happen by accident. It happens by choice. Choose to call them now! read more

I had outstanding results working with the Hypnotist Alexandra - She completely helped me to quit smoking! At first we sat and discussed everything. She was compassionate and easy going so I felt very comfortable sharing my previous experiences with trying to quit. I had tried many times over about 5 years but not with any long lasting results but after my session with Alexandra I finally was able to kick the habit for good and now it's been 6 months! I highly recommend her! She was fantastic. I was honestly shocked at how effective she was! read more

Yes this place is in clear violation of yelps polices and agreements. I would be skeptical of other places because they do offer you a discount for posting a yelp review. The whole review solicitation threw me off and something to consider before attending this clinic. Be advised read more

I remember I bought a Groupon deal for 3 sessions. So I tried one session out with each one of the three hypnotists. The first session, I had great experience with Shauna Cummins. I was there on time and prepared. And I enjoyed so much of her calm voice and the speaking speed as part of her excellent skills. The chair was comfortable and the room had a noise isolator if I am right. I think I fell asleep in a deeper unconscious level. After I came out from the session, I literally felt more energetic and happier. Myself is a social worker. So I came back to office and shared it with my coworkers. It was my first life experience of hypnosis and it was great! The second time was with selnena valentine and the third time was with Caterina Romano. I've noticed that everyone of the hypnosits were different. Not saying who was better, I personally enjoyed the session more with Shauna Cummins. Also for the later ones, I was bad that I was late and not prepared for the sessions so of course the quality would not as good as the first one. I wish to go back more often if it has deals or I can't afford the original price. read more

I purchased a voucher from Lifebooker for two sessions and then purchased another 6 sessions with Caterina. I had never done hypnosis before and found Caterina to be very empathetic, caring and she helped me with my recent break up with an ex. Her guided imagery with her hynosis sessions was very helpful in building up my self esteem and confidence. She is a wonderful lady and her positive energy is contagious! read more

Selena's awesomeSelena and the Empowered Hypnosis Centers have changed my outlook, mindset and hence my life! I have been going to them for approximately 2 years now, and it was not till I started going more consistently- did I start noticing the subtle changes and shifts in my life and my reactions. As the sublime Selena always says- practice makes perfect. This is a lot more than just hypnosis, it is a life coaching, life altering experience. With her upbeat positive personality and beaming, beautiful face Selena guides you to recognize what lies within.. your patterns, your internal dialogue, the way you say or see things and works with your goals to enhance or alter these patterns as need be. For me she is like Sunshine- Vital and nourishing and my practice with her as made me more positive, centered, confident and generally amazing! I can't recommend her and this office enough. Thank you! read more

I went to Selena's Weight Loss Meditation with a girlfriend and I was pleasantly surprised. She was very professional, it was extremely relaxing and the background music was very soothing. I definitely felt something tingling in my body as she began the session. My body was responding to her words and affirmations. I would definitely go again. Highly Recommended. Susan NYC read more

Amy continues to delete and rewrite comments/responses. It looks like part of her actual job description to hound yelp reviewers. They contacted me a few months ago offering a free massage- no thank you. Seriously I mean NO thank you. It's never going to happen. Same management, same assistant, same nonsense. read more

I met Selena one afternoon last summer. I had been given a gift of One Hypnosis session for smoking cessation at Empowered Hypnosis. On the day or so before it expired I made the call. With my appointment scheduled and almost no resolve to actually quit smoking, I made my way to their offices. In fact, I bought a pack of American Spirits on my way to my session. I remember it very clearly, I wanted to smoke and didn't have any so I bought some and besides as soon as I was finished with my hypnosis I'd want one before I got home...or so I thought. I arrived a few minutes early and Selena was finishing up with another appointment. She greeted me in the lobby and invited me to her office. The first thing I noticed was the calmness, the tranquility. A chill, comfortable office that smelled divine. And while I was the biggest skeptic in all of NYC at that moment I figured I'd play along. She first explained what we could expect, we talked about my background, motivation and desire. After she felt she had an understanding of me we began. Starting with relaxation she walked (or more accurately, talked) me through the stages into a deep trance. I was so relaxed. When one is in this state, the subconscious is more open to suggestion. So while I don't remember exactly what we said or did I do know that when Selena had me 'wake up' (by smiling) I was a non-smoker. No, really I no longer smoked! And that pack of cigarettes I bought at the Bodega for $14 I threw in the trash can in her office. And then my lighter. It is an understatement to say I was dubious. I still am BUT IT WORKED. I have since seen another hypnotist or two for other matters but none compare to Selena. Really, don't waste your time or money. And it is worth noting that I am writing this review almost 1 year after that visit. Selena, I don't know if you remember me, but I remember you and you changed my life. Thank you. read more

I've had three sessions with Caterina Romano, and they have been wonderful! Caterina is so good at talking you through the hypnosis, describing helpful visualizations and coming up with thoughtful, productive metaphors. It's great discussing what you need to work on with her, too. She's sensitive and insightful, and in addition to working the things we spoke about into the hypnotherapy itself, she also taught me some excellent techniques for relaxing and focusing, for breaking through resistances and cultivating a state of flow with my work. I highly recommend working with Caterina! read more

Selena's positive outlook and extremely upbeat personality make this a go to session whenever I feel like something in my life isn't headed where I need it to be. She makes the day brighter and on top of that, gets results! I have been for a few sessions and it seems that everytime we work on something specific, it manifest within days. She is such a pleasure and I thoroughly enjoy every session and the results! read more

I just received an aromatherapy body rub from Rebecca and I feel like I am on cloud 9! She is such a calm and warm person, and this energy transferred over to me as I relaxed deep into the massage table and allowed my thoughts to drift away. The oils she used were natural and smelled amazing. I will definitely be returning! PS- I have also had several hypnotherapy sessions with Selena, that were very transformative in my life and I will be returning to her soon as well :) read more

I've been here twice in the past and each time I found it was very helpful. The first time I didn't know what to expect. Yes the office was tiny but I wasn't bothered by that at all. Once you get in the chair and get in the zone your mind is in a completely different place. I left the first session feeling very positive. The second session I had was very helpful as well. I was feeling particularly anxious about an audition and once I saw Selena she helped me put all those anxious thoughts out of my mind and I was ready to focus on my audition. I would definitely recommend anyone to go visit Selena especially if you need to work on your positivity outlook. read more

I bought a 3-pack session and Caterina helped me through some self confidence issues and feelings of extreme guilt that sometimes prevent me from doing what I want to do. If you are struggling to break free of certain habits or negative thoughts I would Highly recommend Empowered Hypnosis. Selena is so gracious and accommodating, as well as Caterina! I've been to a couple of different hypnotists in the past and no one compares to Caterina. She is absolutely amazing. She genuinely cares, listens, and will help you in any way she possibly can! It's so comforting and refreshing to speak to someone with such an honest and caring soul. read more

I came in to Selena D. Valentine Hypnosis Center for the Gastric Band Hypnosis Program and I have already lost 5 lbs. and it's only been a week! I really wanted to get control of my food intake and eliminate junk food and just couldn't do it on my own. I chose the center because many friends have gone there and was raving about the place so I had to check it out for myself and I am so happy I did. As soon as I walked in I knew I chose the right place because the staff was so warm and friendly. I truly felt I was talking to my best friend. Someone that just cares for you and want your best interest at heart and not just after a quick buck. The two most significant improvements are my rapid weight loss and I have no desire to eat large meals or junk food. A small amount of healthy foods keeps me happy and satisfied. My stomach feels like the size of a golf ball. Even my husband has commented on how flat my stomach is now. The type of person that would benefit from the Hypnosis Gastric Band Program are people that are serious about losing weight because this program works! If you are on the fence, get off and make an appointment now. You will lose weight quickly and gain your self-confidence back too:) Shellyann read more

I got a Lifebooker for a 1 hour session and my reason to go was to help with shopping "addiction". I have had Hypnosis several times in my life and not all of them know what they are doing. However, when I had my session here I was hypnotized for sure. What also got stuck with me from the session, which I now use every time I go shopping, whether the item I am getting is a "liability" or an "asset". Meaning, if I already have 10 pairs of shoes and I wanna buy another one, it would be a "liability" for my finance. However, buying groceries, supplies for my daughters school is an "asset". I would definitely recommend them! read more

I went to Selena D for hypnosis to help me sleep better. I was skeptical but thought I'd give it a try. I only went once but noticed a difference right away. An added bonus was that I could download helpful audio sessions to do in my spare time, some for free and some for a reasonable price. If you are open to hypnosis, definitely go with Selena D! read more

Selena is really wonderful. She greeted me right at my scheduled appointment time and discussed what I felt I needed help with. We even wound up walking out together and taking the train downtown, both headed in the same direction. In speaking to her outside of the office, I learned even more about what drew her to hypnosis and how it really can be beneficial... even if it is just a placebo effect. I think that I'll definitely be back for another appointment. It can't hurt. And if nothing else, it's an hour in a quiet room, comfortable and hearing about how great you are/can be. Win/win. read more

Selena is warm, welcoming and makes you feel like she has your best interests at heart. I was skeptical/curious about hypnosis but I thought it was worth a shot. I'm excited to write this review and say that I have absolutely no regrets. none. I consider sessions with Selena a form of pampering. Think of it as a massage for your subconscious. When I leave, I feel light, refreshed and focused. I feel in control and confident, like I can (and I will) have the kind of life I wish to create for myself. Selena knows how powerful you are, your mind is, and only wants you to fully understand it for yourself. That knowledge is priceless in my opinion. read more
