My first visit there they did an exam and made no mention of expensive items that my last dentist had told me were urgent and needed immediate action, such as a crown that they said had a cavity under it. The dentist at ADA had a good look when I told him, both by physical inspection and by X-rays, and said the crown was fine. At some point, dental offices started putting tv's in the ceiling which has always really bothered me as someone who appreciates the opportunity to simply lie there and zone out or, gasp, interact with the hygienist as another person. The dental hygiene appointment I went to had no tv. I appreciated that a lot. And the hygienist was really personable. She paints and they let her decorate the office with her art, which you can buy if you like it. I thought that was really nice. Gave the place a really good small business / family business feel. I really have come to loathe how dentistry got away from that feel over the past few decades, so this place has been really nice for me. It feels good to go there.

I then called her superior who told me that they do everything perfectly and that she has never even read the 5 steps on the FNHA page for accepting it. Not so much a 'feel good' treatment, as an efficient and effective one. This dentist was willing to consult with me, for free, on what my priorities are, as I cannot afford everything! I think the prices are in the normal range of too much, but I believe the quick and sufficient results are worth the (in)convenience. It is well worth your time to learn to assess your own mouth Needs, and ask for what is really a priority for yourself. Good luck!

She informed me which titers had to be requested through my doctor, and assisted me with several vaccinations, my TB test, and boosters as required, in addition to signing off on my required documentation for school as a PHN. And, she does HOUSE VISITS! I am so thankful for the service she provides, demystifying and helping organise all of this took such a weight off my shoulders, and I feel so much more knowledgable about my general health (i.e., adult vaccination) status. I had previously gone to another optometrist but felt his diagnosis of my problem was not right. There was no comparison between the two optometrists. Bought glasses here...waited two years for the next eye exam and gave them my glasses to change out…read morethe lens to up date the prescription....the new lens caused headaches...so I took them back and complained. They refunded the cost and Alana kept my glasses. I paid close to $300.00 dollars just for the frames! "Lauren Hutton" black frames. I remember the last technician complimenting on them, and he is no longer there. As the years past...I had received another pair of glasses from another optometry but this optometry was in another province. No problems with the glasses. It was two years until I needed another eye exam....thought I would try them again...thinking people will change and giving Alana another opportunity to correct the situation. I gave them my glasses for the updated prescription again ...and again they were giving me headaches...so went back in, complained, refunded and had to demand to receive my glasses back...she replaced the old lenses with some ones that were in the garbage can. Just disgusted with the whole ordeal! Start to wonder if she put the right lenses in the right glasses in the first place. They finally lost my business...gave Alana more than enough opportunity to be honest and correct the situation!

In response to the Dr.SAUNDERS review: I've been told that that doctor has not been at the clinic…read moresince shortly after that review sometime in early 2014 so it is no longer relevant. I can't say enough good things about this clinic and it's current doctor and staff. As someone who is part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and also has sensory sensitivities, it's rare to find a space that feels this safe, welcoming, and respectful. The staff here go out of their way to be kind, patient, and accommodating--without making a big deal out of it or singling anyone out. The environment is calm and thoughtfully set up, which makes a big difference if you're sensitive to noise, light, or busy spaces. I never feel rushed, and they always take the time to explain things in a way that feels clear and respectful. It's a genuinely inclusive place where you can just be, and that matters more than most people realize. Highly recommend for anyone looking for affirming, accessible eye care.

I went to see Dr. R. Saunders years ago when I lived in Kamloops. I have since moved to Vancouver…read more I was up visiting family (Oct 16, 2013) and decided to make an appointment to have my eyes tested with her again, as it had been awhile since the last time I had them tested, and my first experience 7 years ago was a very pleasant one. I have since heard negative feedback from several Kamloops people that had been to see her, but I decided that because my experience was a good one the first time I saw her, so I ignored their negative feedback and decided to go have my eyes tested. Over the years things have sure changed, and not in a good way! I would have to agree with all the negative feedback unfortunately, and wished I'd listened to the people who had tried to warn me. I found her to be very abrasive, rude and it was not a pleasant experience at all. I would not recommend her if you would like to have someone who is compassionate, and has a nice "bedside manner" that you would hope for and come to expect when visiting a "professional" in the medical field. The office is clean and on the surface appears to be a place you would feel comfortable in, state of the art equipment - until the moment you come in contact with Dr. R. Saunders. She seems to be a person who doesn't enjoy her job anymore, and either needs a nice long vacation or to retire from the profession she clearly no longer enjoys.
