Amazing massage!…read more You have to remember this is for education for students so you won't get the upscale feel but after the massage got started and I closed my eyes it was like being in a luxury spa. They had the music and essential oils going. The rooms itself is small and not decorated but has the essentials the students need for the massage. I noticed they don't close the doors and just have the curtain so I was a little confused when I was told to undress if the door was going to close or not. It was a sunny day so the sun was shining pretty bright so the room wasn't very dark. They had the fan going but it felt really nice with the heated bed. The foot soak was nice in the beginning, he gave me a choice of essential oils and gave me a little foot scrub after the soak. I did the serenity package for $90 which included an hour of foot reflexology where he followed the chart. The next hour compromised of a face massage (he put gloves on for this), scalp, neck décolleté, arms, legs, abdomen, glute, and back. He really worked out my problem areas and added some stretches in. I was so relaxed and comfortable the whole time. I do have to mention his voice was very calming and soothing and he checked to make sure I was ok with anything before he did it. I really appreciate him spending extra time with all my knots and issues. I wish you great success in the future Dan! They have two free parking lots that had plenty of spaces when I arrived. Bring cash to tip since they can't take tip on a card.

What wasn't expected was the poor professionalism from instructors and management. It took two instructors to create a color formula, yet my hair turned out much darker than discussed and had noticeable missed spots. When I asked for corrections, I was met with back talk, rudeness, and resistance instead of support or accountability. A touch-up was eventually done, but I still left with a result I didn't ask for and without anyone taking responsibility. Disappointing experience, especially compared to other Aveda locations. I will not be returning to this location , largely because of the behavior of the people who are supposed to be the educators.

I have had my hair done at Atelier in Hopkins for about 6 months. The last time was exactly two…read moreweeks ago. The color was done really well. I was very happy with it! However, each time I have a student cut my hair I get the impression that they are not ready and have not been trained well enough to be on the floor cutting hair. If the instructors were more available that would be helpful to the students. Two weeks ago I know that the student did not cut my hair correctly and the instructor did not take the time to check it. She just said, "looks good" and sent me on my way. My hair does not look right. The face framing was not sectioned correctly and I know that had the instructor combed through and checked it that it would have been caught and corrected, which would have helped the student to learn and it would have helped me to walk out feeling good about how my hair looked. I think that if a student doesn't feel sure about what she is doing that an instructor should be available to help. And, a haircut should always be thoroughly checked before a client leaves.

If you don't want to spend a fortune on a haircut, Atelier Academy of Beauty is the place to go…read more I've had my hair cut by Fara and Addi and have been happy with the results! The instructors check in periodically and give pointers to students as needed. Making an appointment online is easy and both times I was taken back a few minutes after checking in. The appointments are longer than other places because students are providing services, but I always schedule my appointments when I'm not in a rush to be somewhere. Cuts are $15, which is a steal given I've paid a lot more at salons in CA and even Aveda Beauty School in DC. Best of all, it's a 10-15 min walk from my apartment so I don't have to worry about parking. As a recent transplant, I'm thrilled to have found a salon I like on the first try and I'm glad it's in Hopkins!

Neither times did the students doing my services do general small talk and instead chatted with their friends. The managers seem friendly, but the students need A LOT OF WORK!!!!!!! Photos of the manicure I got. Gel removal took 45 minutes, and the gel job was horrendous. I hardly do reviews but I will not be coming back. This is only my experience with the waxing and gel service. Other services may be different!!

I had a pedicure. My student was very sweet and professional. She did an eccellent job. However,…read morethe polish seemed thick, almost stringy, coming from the bottle and there were streaks on my nails. The student admitted the quality of polish they use is not the best. She fixed it with an extra layer of top coat. My polish chipped and peeled within 24 hours. I feel bad that students are provided products that don't set them up fir success. There was a group of students nearby, working on each others' nails, talking about personal subjects and swearing. It didn't really bother me but it seemed unprofessional.

I guess it's my fault or is it? I was looking for an opportunity to get my nails done for cheap…read moreand decided to go to this establishment because they advertised a $15 full set. This is an amazing deal because most nail shops charge an upwards of $35. For those of you who are not familiar with acrylic nails here is a little info for you. In order to apply the properly you need a drill. This place did not have one. The young man who did my nails had only been in school for 3 weeks, out of a 6 month program. (I found this out 1 hour into the nail process) I should have known when I sat in the chair that I was in for a problem but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, especially since the place in the middle of nowhere and gas price are crazy right now. Long story short. The young man did the best he could with 3 weeks experience and no drill. I asked to see his instructor because he said that he hadn't learned how to use the drill yet. She came out with two broken finger nails that were in desperate need of a fill themselves. I asked if she could use the drill since the student hadn't learned yet and she stated that they didn't have any in the building. YOU CANT APPLY NAILS without a drill. He did my nails with a regular nail file that you buy at Sally's. Two hours later I told the young man that I had to leave. I left without him painting the nails because I knew that I would have to go to a professional to get them fixed. $25 dollars later at a regular nail shop my nails looked somewhat presentable. One week later I'm at writing at my desk and a nail goes flying off towards a client. Want to talk about embarrassing. I went back to a different nail shop to get it fixed and she said I needed a whole new set. At first I thought she was trying to get my money, but she proved it by easily popping of all nine nails without soaking them. Most nails require over an hour of soaking before they can be taken off. $35 dollars later I had a beautiful full set of nails, that won't pop off while writing. Also, the other students at the school were very unprofessional. They were laughing and giggling as if there was no one else in the room. There is a time and place for everything and when clients are in the room it just isn't the time. Lastly, when I attempted to pay with a $20. The "instructor" stated that they didn't have any change. Even though my nails were horrible, I was going to leave a tip. But the idea of being force to tip infuriated me. This is my very first review EVER, so this is really a reflection of how horrible my experience was. To the young mans credit he tried his best with what he had. (3 weeks of training and no drill) Grand total was $75 for something that should have cost me $15.
