I was scheduled last minute with Rebekah. I was pretty nervous because I've had some traumatic haircuts in the past and I expressed that to her as soon as I sat in the chair. Don't be fooled by her quiet nature and delicate touch. Rebekah is an absolute BEAST behind the scissors! The teacher Mrs Marie was knowledgeable, very professional and very patient. all I can say is....WOW... I couldn't be happier with the result. Rebekah should be so proud of herself. Her precision, attention to detail, and patience blew me away. If anything, I just hope she steps into her confidence even more because her talent is undeniable. Facilities: I came in for guest services (specifically for a perm and haircut). Le Jeane Academe is located within a cute Colonial Revival style building that's as charming on the inside as it is outside! The interior is very modern and spacious. All of the equipment, from styling seats to manicure tables were very new in condition. There's even a cafe inside, although it was closed when I came due to the pandemic. Hygiene: All staff wear masks and appropriate personal protective equipment. They also check your temperature when you come in. Everything that a guest would touch, from the pens to the chairs and tables were sterilized between guests. On top of this, I had an entire area of 10 styling seats to myself (and the two students and instructor, of course). The safety measures taken combined with the ample social distancing allowed me to leave with peace of mind and no anxiety about whether or not I might've contracted coronavirus. Student to Instructor Ratio: The student to instructor ratio was 2:1. While this review rates Le Jeane Academe from the point of view of guest services, I think any prospective cosmetology student should pay attention! Other schools I've been to, often have an instructor supervising 5 students, as well as floating between multiple guests. The best part is that I had one instructor dedicated to me; she didn't divide her time amongst other guests or students, and supervised my service the entire time. Quality of Work: I was extremely satisfied with the turnout of my perm and cut. The students clearly take pride in their work, and the same is true for the instructor. Of course, as students, there were a few moments when they needed help, but with an instructor dedicated to me, she was literally always available to offer help and instruction. Unlike some other schools where the students may need to call an instructor for help, at Le Jeane Academe, because all of the instructors' attention was on her students and one guest, she watched and was able to anticipate moments when the students would've had questions and show them. Not only did it probably provide better instruction, but it sped up my time here, as there was no unnecessary downtime and everything just flowed seamlessly! Conclusion: As a guest, I got professional salon quality results with my perm and haircut, with the whole visit taking about 3.5 hours, which is slightly slower than a professional salon, but much faster compared to most schools I've been to. Not too shabby, considering I only paid $48 for services that would've easily cost me 3x to 4x more at a salon!

I stayed on top of my paperwork and felt the need to do because I had already experienced FINANCIAL AID FRAUD years ago when I attended Everest Institute(after 6 years of fighting with student loan entities, I finally got my student loans discharged.) But from that experience I pretty much knew what to look for. While enrolled there were issues with students being able to obtain specific documents. I ended up calling state board on their behalf and stare board told me exactly what to say and which code to quote to obtain documents. The individual I spoke with stated that by LAW Cherri was REQUIRED to provide us with the paperwork upon request. She gave me mine without incident, but refused to with Este and Combo students. I recall another situation where a student withdrew after being there for a VERY short period, not even enough time to have used much Financial aid. When the student contacted state board, I believe, for clarity, they informed her she owed for a tablet or IPad which she never received. She provided them with the serial number for the chromebook she had and they revealed to her that Cherri had sent invoices for tablets or IPads instead of the chrome books. Pure fraud. Even in them knowing, they did nothing. To add, my 1st day there as a student, I was worked on a mannequin practicing flat iron methods and my comb melted. I ended having to replace my combs that day at the Rite in near the school in Squirrel Hill and then eventually buying better supplies at a Sally's. I made sure to use my bank card for a paper trail. I also purchased my own professional nail kit and hand and it wasn't taken off my student loans so I emailed Sara and Cherri for it to be removed. That part of my financial aid was corrected 2 days after I reached out to them. As for the Squirrel Hill location, there were no vents and neighboring business complained of the smell of monomer daily. Illegal There weren't enough teachers for all the students that were there. Illegal The equipment and supplies, the majority, were outdated, cheap materials and not durable, and broke. 2 of the sinks were down for what seemed like months. Illegal We didn't have properly working restrooms and at one point no restroom at all. Unsanitary When state board came to Squirrel Hill location, they gave her so much time to get the school up to par. She had the carpets painted, NEVER had proper insulation or vents installed, just bought a fan and moved the nail area to the back of the school, cleaned the sinks out that were broke, but still hadn't gotten them fixed by the time I left, and the list goes on. Just about every student there paid for their own supplies out of pocket because the school either didn't have them or they were expired. Cherri just about bullied teachers into spending more time in the office to help her cook her books so half the time we were on our own during the day. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone.
