Namaste Empanada
Andy N.

Who knew that South Lake Tahoe would have such an awesome empanada stop that was the perfect snack during a long day of driving? Empanadas are ordered a la carte and they had a variety of veggie friendly options. I went with the Namaste (eggplant, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, and sun dried tomatoes) as the only vegan option and it was so, so worth it. The crispy empanada was fried to perfection and the house chimichurri sauce gave it an extra kick of flavor. Definitely glad that they offered a veggie option so I could experience these Argentinian flavors. Even though there were a few orders ahead, we did end up waiting 15-20 minutes for our individual empanadas so expect a bit of a delay (and be glad if it comes out sooner).

Phenomenal! I had this place for breakfast this morning and it blew me away. I ordered the chicken and beef empanada and were probably the best I ever had. 10/10. Thank you Empanash :)

Service is pretty slow. Almost 30 minutes to get our food with no one before me waiting. I was there for Sunday lunch and it was not busy. Food was not bad but not good either. I ordered one beef and one chicken.

Scratch-made is the way to go, and this place makes fantastic empanadas. We tried the beef, corn, and dessert cinnamon apple. The beef had a rich, bold flavor and was filled generously with ground beef, making it a satisfying portion on its own. We didn't need any sauce for this one. The corn empanada paired perfectly with the chimichurri sauce, creating a great balance of flavor. The cinnamon apple was the largest of the three, packed with so many apples that they practically burst out of the crust. It was warm, sweet, and a perfect way to finish the meal. Pricing is fair and portions are generous. If you're looking for a fresh, scratch-made lunch or an easy snack, this spot is definitely worth trying.

Loved the empanadas and small mom & pop restaurant vibe. We tried the beef'd up and Popeye empanadas with on advice of one of the owners. Both were delicious and substantial. And the chimichurri was fresh and delicious. The dough for the empanadas is handmade. Definitely an economical and delicious option in South Lake Tahoe.

Place was empty both times I went in. These empanadas are so good that when I came back up to Tahoe, I definitely wanted to go back and get more. Lots of room you can sit in and outside. I love these definitely a must try

A must visit each time I'm in S Lake Tahoe. The empanadas are made to order and they come out nice n hot. As shown in one of my pics, order 6 and get one free. My favorites are beef and the breakfast If you like empanadas, I highly recommend stopping in

Empanash is a South Lake Tahoe hidden gem! The empanadas were made fresh on the spot and wow they were delicious! My brother and his wife got the buy 6 get the 7th free (they decided to get one of each and said their favorites were the beef, spinach/cheese, and ham/cheese). I got the Beef'd Up and Henhouse (regular). The beef was my favorite - super flavorful and tender. The chicken was also delicious The crust was definitely home made dough and was hand rolled and stuffed. It had a great filling to crust ratio Just a warning.. these are hand made so it took time. We waited about 45 minutes for our order. So if you want something flavorful (and not a tourist trap) and are not starving/have to eat that second.. this place is worth the wait! Side note.. if you have kids - they have so many books, toys and puzzles while you wait. They also have a side room that offers more space

Breakfast, Beef'd Up, Henhouse, Hammer, Popeye, Namaste

we ordered the Breakfast, Beef'd Up, Henhouse, Hammer, Popeye, and Namaste for pickup and they were still nice and warm and not too soggy. the chicken in henhouse was a bit dry but they were generous with the meat filling. I liked the hammer the best! we bought the Flan with Dulce de Leche in store, and unfortunately I wasn't a fan of its texture. I wish it was more smooth and soft, it had too many air bubbles and was too firm

Place is a hidden gem. Have to park near Hilton vacation club. It's in the same complex as Riva Grill. Place does have inside and outside seating. There is no customer bathroom. Great customer service, gave us all the info we needed to make a good decision. We got our food to good. The food pricing was fair for portion size. The food was flaky and crispy and had good flavor. The fillings were good and flavorful. Would recommend this place if you're visiting here.

Beef'd Up

Previous reviews did not disappoint! Came here for lunch on a Saturday and ordered the Beefed Up and the chicken empanadas, along with tomato bisque and fries. Empanadas are made fresh so took around 10 minutes, but very worth the wait! Tons of flavor in the ground beef and tomato bisque and the sauces added wonderful flavor. The chicken was a little dry and not quite as seasoned as the beef, so I recommend getting the spicy option. Overall through, really great find!

These empanadas were exciting, flavorful, packed full of deliciousness! I ordered to go four different empanadas, spicy, henhouse, spinach and eggplant. The spicy empanada was really quite hot and the chicken was high quality. The veggie empanadas were the highlight the spinach cheese empanada was cooked perfectly, the crust is buttery, light, and just dense enough to hold its shape, without ever feeling heavy or greasy. The eggplant filling was rich and velvety, almost meaty in its depth, balanced with just enough seasoning. These aren't just snacks. They're mini flavor adventures, each with their own personality, and all of them worth getting to know.

Great Lake Tahoe stop if you're feeling for some fresh and filling empanadas. The service was pretty quick considering that we ordered 7 different empanadas. The beef empanada is flavorful but a little oily. The breakfast was savory and blended well together. The Popeye and Namaste is a go to for veggie lovers and still tasted fresh when saved for the next day! Our favorite sauce would have to be the chimichury. The Cinner Apple empanada was shareable and the filling was not too sweet compared to other apple pie deserts. Overall, would definitely come back

I wouldn't give that crap to my dog! Anyways, I was a bit PTSD after that and didn't have high hopes for LZ as I view them the same type of dining establishment. I could not be more wrong. Everything BJ's did wrong, LZ did right. From the host counter, to seating, to even the smell of the place, it was right. Table spacing, right. Decor, right. Waitress, right, right, right!! She took our order and didn't even have a pad or pencil. I thought well, it's just the two of us, but I saw her at the next table, 4 people with lots of options and she didn't need to write a thing down. We started with drinks and candied bacon. Just great! Hardly anyplace has diet coke, only Pepsi, but LZ has my diet coke. Thank you! We each ordered from the $15 menu. Me some sort of BBQ bacon cowboy burger thing and my wife had shrimp tacos. I asked for medium rare and it came medium rare. The lettuce and tomato slice were cold, the burger hot and the bun warm. Right, Right, Right. I substituted fries for onion rings and got plenty. The oil was good, not the freshest, but that's o.k. too. Some sort of dipping sauce, no ketchup, but after tasting the sauce, I didn't need any ketchup anyway. I did salt the burger and rings, but that's just me. Most folks would find them seasoned well enough as they were. The meal comes with individual sized dessert. I had some sort of brownie/ice cream thing which was awesome! My wife had the banana pudding. It was exactly like homemade. The wafers were fresh, not soggy, the pudding cold and chilly. While the brownie was warm with gooey sauce and a solid scoop of ice cream. All was right with dessert. The only thing I would have liked was our waitress to check on refills, but I did fine as it was a tall glass to begin with. We were on our way to Harris Center for a concert and this was a great place to hang out before and probably after too, if we were with another couple. No left overs, we ate every bite and enjoyed ourselves. We will be back regularly.

This spot delivered last time, so expectations were already set... and somehow this Sunday still leveled up. From the moment we walked in, it just felt easy--like the kind of place you can settle into and actually enjoy the night without rushing anything. We kicked it off with the firecracker shrimp, and yeah... you have to do it with that thin rice cake layer to tie it all together--otherwise you're just playing yourself. Then I went with the bibimbap with an egg, and that dish came out hitting on all levels. Flavor, texture, heat... it all worked. One of those meals where you slow down a bit just to enjoy it. Add in good company and the whole thing just lands different. Shoutout to our waitress too--super attentive, friendly, and made everything feel smooth without hovering. We grabbed a spot inside next to the fireplace, and it brought that extra level of comfort to the night. Real talk, this was one of those simple Sunday dinners that just hits right. Good food, good people, and a perfect way to close out the weekend.

I spotted the shopfront and its signage while driving down Lake Tahoe Blvd. That word "bakery"caught my sweet tooth's attention and off I go. The bakery is unassuming, and no frills. The gentleman at the counter was a man of few words. Kind and earnest. The various pan dulce sat so pretty within the glass cabinets. But there was no pricing. They had the pan dulce names clearly labeled though. Considering it was early afternoon, some items were scarce. But they still had enough variety to satisfy my sweet tooth. I bought some orejas (don't you dare say palmiers), polvorones (they're gorgeous tri colored happy looking butter cookies), conchas (soft bready center with sweet sugary, crisp top goodness), and butter cookies topped with shredded coconut. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, and looked so cheerful. It's a true panaderia where you take a tray and tongs and serve yourself by loading up the baked goodies onto your tray. You take the tray and tongs to the cashier to pay. They'll bag up everything for you. Another important thing to know is their payment policy. They take cash, Venmo, and Zelle.
