Emory is an outstanding school to sneak into the DUC for with your sophmore buddy for free all-you-can-eat lunch, or when he dissapears, to offer to pay some kid to let you in the dorms to do laundry though he won't accept $, but let's you in anyways & asks if u have enough coins for the machines(!), and to lounge w your feet up, watching your fav Adam Sandler movie while girls ask you for dating advice as your clothes wash! Emory is also great to come back hours (or a day?) later scrambling to find your purse, bc it is still on that same table in the laundry mat you left it, with EVERY SINGLE THING INSIDE.

I went here many years back and returned recently for Alumni Weekend after 20 years out of Atlanta…read more I'm glad to hear that they actually have changed for the better from students, classmates who got into in leadership roles and recall those bad old days too well, staff members and so forth. I attended a number of events and was thrilled to hear the President say they weren't trying to exclude and alienate conservatives from the community + still teach critical thinking skills (one of the positive aspects of my time there). Gone are the good ol' boys and now diversity (including being a first generation student) actually seems to be considered and appreciated where that wasn't my experience. The bad old days were so bad I had nothing to do with the school for about 10 years due to the presence and protection towards a group I found loathsome (and would be completely inappropriate in our modern times just as it was 20 years ago). Since my most recent visit, I can say with pride that I went to this school and am proud of my classmates for stepping up and being change so others don't have to go through what I'm sure some of them did.

Had me up at 7 am on Wednesday on a cold November day to sign up for classes. I am on ten standby…read morelists. I couldn't get in to a single one. It took 15 minutes of loading to get into a standby lists. This is absurd and I'm just disappointed in the infrastructure of this historic university.

Real talk, Georgia has like 7 ranks of schools 1 being highest 7 being lowest…read more 3. and 4. really are on the same level of prestige 1. Really High-Ranking Schools, it would be difficult to get into (Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, University of Georgia) and Mercer 2. Safety Schools like GA State University (merged with Ga Perimeter College), Kennesaw State University (merged with Southern Polytechnical State University), Georgia Southern University, Columbus State University 3. HBCUs which are really in a class of their own (Morehouse, Clayton State University, Clark Atlanta University, Albany State, Savannah State University, Fort Valley State University, etc) or Atlanta Technical College 4. All woman colleges like Spellman or Agnes Scott 5. Colleges weirdly named small private schools or religious schools you see ads for or considered but will most likely not go to/not ranked Nationally not an HBCU PBI or Minority Majority School but are for the local population (Ga Perimeter, Ga Gwinnett, Gwinnett Tech, Augusta State, Valdosta State, Middle Georgia, South Georgia, UWG, UNG, Dalton, Armstrong Atlantic State University, College of Coastal Georgia, Ga College & State University - not to be confused with Georgia State University, Devry University, Life University, Beulah Heights University, South University, Thomas University, Shorter University, Thomas University, Reinhardt University, Baulder, Wesleyan Abraham Baldwin Agricultural, Brewton-Parker, Berry, Paine, Columbia Theological Seminary, Lagrange, Piedmont, Truett-McConnell, Emmanuel, 6. Lol no offense imo but rip-off or Non-Accredited Colleges like SCAD the Art Institute of Atlanta 7. last and least lol 2-year colleges or Technical College or Vocational Schools Some of the rankings blend but generally shoot for the higher ranks of schools if you can't start at the lower ranks. Unfortunately, there's a huge gap between the Really Highly Ranked Colleges and the Safety Schools which seems like there is a barrier of entry for marginalized students or POC, but you could work hard and transfer even if you start at a 2 year college or Technical College. So, by all means considerably Id say in the state of Georgia, GA State University is a great option if you care for Research and name and prestige and diversity and value financially Return of Interest.

HONORS COLLEGE ONLY! (other GSU faculty and staff were great)…read more Parents and students: be aware that the Honors College at GSU has a troubling internal culture that can impact student experiences. Leadership frequently forgot the names of Black students and faculty who had been part of the program for years, while white and lighter-skinned students and staff were consistently remembered and engaged. Students were also treated unfairly. For example, one student with ADHD/Autism was yelled at by a leadership employee for harmless stimming, and others were spoken about negatively behind their backs, including being called "weird" despite social challenges. Black students were often only engaged for photo ops or promotional events, rather than receiving genuine support. Overall, the environment can feel hostile and unwelcoming, and students should know that office culture may affect their experience in this program.

Just a Scottie here to represent. ;)…read more I adore Agnes Scott, and it has truly made me a very strong and capable woman. Yes, it's an all female college in Decatur GA- just a stones-throw from the city. But with all of the wonderful food, shopping, and (lets be honest) beauty, Agnes Scott is a sure thing. All of the professors at ASC have their PhD., and offer incredibly insightful, interpersonal, and unbiased teaching. I don't believe that I could have found a better support academic environment. ASC also has an extremely high rate of their pre-med being accepted into medical school, not to mention many graduates go on to graduate studies, or leave ASC with a job. Socially, it is the type of school where you need to be incredibly open minded. Yes, there are many outlets for the students to go party, meet people of the opposite sex, or not. I would say the most wonderful thing about Agnes Scott is the students respect for one another regardless of sexual and gender identity, religion, race, and background. We have an extremely diverse enrollment, and many clubs and associations for students to become involved in. We work hard here, but many of us also play hard. We do throw many social events, including a fall semester formal, and a spring semi-formal. Agnes Scott knows how to throw down. Sometimes on-campus guest are a little weary of what to expect... but every date I have brought on campus has has an awesome time. Being from a fairly small town only 75 mi. north of Atlanta, I didn't expect a lot of change from my conservative high school. Well, it did. I have become very well rounded, open-minded, accepting.. and driven to succeed. When I first came to Agnes, my class motto was "Take root...grow beyond." And I most certainly have.
