When my mother died in August of 2024, I found myself completely spiritually lost. I ultimately turned to Christianity to help me survive the excruciating grief, and Eastside was the first church that attracted me with its whole "it's okay not to be okay" tagline and mindset. In terms of their services: to be blunt, they are extremely impersonal. Everything's on a screen; there's no live pastor giving sermons, no live anyone doing anything except for the worship songs - otherwise just QR codes and a recording that they play on a projector. That's why I ultimately left. They have multiple branches so they just treat it as a franchise almost, and that's just not how I was necessarily raised to feel like church should be. That being said, they do offer incredible resources, several of which I took advantage of and will always be grateful for. The first was their grief group, which I attended for several months after my mother's death (after also having lost my father a few years before) and which helped me tremendously. The second was a pre-marriage course that was somewhat like couple's counseling, which I went to with my partner as we were hitting some rough spots. I will always thank Eastside for providing these specific outlets of help. I was baptized here as well on Easter of this year, and that was an extremely positive experience. Everyone rallies around for the baptisms and offers encouragement, so it was beautiful to be baptized in that type of environment with everyone around you cheering you on. If you like more traditional Christian services, which I realized that I do, this is not the church for you. But if you're a little more contemporary or you need any type of personal help, I would recommend checking out Eastside and their offerings. They have something akin to AA too that they call something else, but they're really great at offering support to the community, and I'll certainly give them credit for that. Side note, and not necessarily important at all, but their bakery has the best ham & cheese croissants I've ever had. Stop in a bit early before the service, grab one and a coffee or smoothie and mingle. There's always a large amount of people socializing before/after the services since they've got both the bakery and a basic grill with burgers, breakfast sandwiches, etc. I was always too shy to invite myself to anyone else's table, but if you're outgoing, that window of time might be a great opportunity for you to meet some friends.

We found our church and also a community to grow spiritually. Everyone is really welcoming and…read morefriendly, not plastic or distanced. Jesus is here as the Holy Spirit envelopes us during worship. Amen and amen!

Weekend at Calvary Church for the Reality Apologetics Conference…read more My heart is full. So many powerful messages, convos, and reminders of truth.

If I could give this church a ZERO I would! DO NOT EVER COME HERE, DON'T BRING YOUR FAMILY HERE…read moreBECAUSE YOU WILL BE DISCRIMINATED & DISRESPECTED! I just left a meeting with pastor Glen to plan my grandparents funeral.. I originally chose this church because my mom attended here for the last 20 years.. she left due to discrepancies in teachings & discriminatory remarks made against criminals, the lgbtq community, amongst many other things.. during the meeting he proceeded to ask me for my beliefs, if I attend church, etc. I explained to him that I recently moved to the IE & have yet to find a church to attend. He then asked my partner who is a female, and she told him she was raised as a Mormon and is here to support me & my family. He diverted from planning my grandparents funeral to an immediate response of "You know you're going to hell right?" Told her that she's a heathen, that she should consider removing her tattoos because those are a sin as well but that in itself won't eradicate her sin of being a Mormon.. said that because of her belief she clearly doesn't believe in God & that if she doesn't convert to Christianity when she dies God is going to tell her he doesn't know her & she will have to deal with those consequences. Even had the audacity to ask her when she gets to the gates and God asks her why she thinks she should be let in, what she would say.. & with a respectful response she replied saying she would tell Him she is a Child of God.. he immediately cut her off & told her that she is not a Child of God & whatever she's been taught she believes in whatever God they made up.. After about 10 minutes of the most uncomfortable conversation, she kept her composure & stayed silent.. he smirked once he finished talking and sarcastically said "Oh I made her mad didn't I?" At the end of the day God doesn't teach us to judge one another, regardless of who you are or what religion you believe in. Matthew 7:1! He teaches love & understanding, & in the 30 minutes that we had to endure with this man.. I have never felt so belittled in my life, for a man like this to be guiding people to God is crazy!!! HE ISN'T BEING USED AS GODS INSTRUMENT & NO ONE SHOULD FOLLOW OR LISTEN TO HIM! I WILL NEVER COME BACK!

The priest assigned did not speak Spanish in a mostly Spanish-speaking parish. He wore a mask that made him hard to understand, and finished the Mass quickly with no emotional connection. To make matters worse, the priest - who was a last-minute replacement - was never informed he was expected to attend the burial. The staff offered no solution, no replacement, and no empathy. They even ignored our calls throughout the week when we tried to confirm the readings. This entire experience felt disrespectful to our family, our guests, and most importantly, to the memory of our loved one. Our mother's Catholic faith meant everything to her, but there was no warmth or compassion from anyone. We strongly urge other families to avoid this church or to confirm every detail in writing before trusting them with such an important and sacred event.

I was trying so hard to follow along but he's Spanish was soooo bad. Prior to the service we had a few questions and we had called the office several times but couldn't get a hold of none, I wished we would have took that as a hint. also no restrooms are available during the mass which sucks because like I said we had elderly people with us but the lady in the office didn't care. Also even Mass was over the priest never let us know, didn't wish us well nothing. Also after the service usually and we had paid for him to go to the cemetery for the burial and he said he wasn't able to go, the person informing us about this didn't even seem compassionate about it. We were stuck scrambling to find a priest who could go to the cemetery in such a last notice. Very sad to have to go thru this when your family is already going thru a lost.
